When I upgraded from MacOS Ventura to MacOS Sonoma, Thunderbird stopped working. Getting it to work the first time required me to use Apple's 2 Step Verification process to create an app-specific password. After the MacOS upgrade, that process was no longer available. Apple switched to 2 Factor Authentication, which is apparently different and incompatible with 2sv. The other websites and applications on my iMac have already switched to 2fa, and I'm not sure I can have both methods active on the same computer (but I've asked, Apple, anyway).
Is there a recent change in Thunderbird that would allow me to use 2fa instead of 2sv to access Thunderbird?
I have many years worth of emails in Thunderbird that I can no longer access. I can see the directory structure, and some of the email lists, but not the content.
Thanks for the help!

Hi there,
I accidentally changed my view to card view (at least I think it was me...) by clicking on a button on the quicksearch bar. Working quickly (to quick...) I don't know what happened, but the button was not there anymore and I cannot change back to table view anymore.
I really need table view! I manage hundreds of emails and need to be able to sort them quickly by clicking column headers.

How can I turn off the threading of my emails? Its driving me crazy as when an email comes in after a short time it disappears into the threads and then I have to open each thread to find out who sent the email. At one stage there were 6 emails noted near the inbox but no new unthreaded message, all went to respective threads. Very time wasting.

I use Thunderbird in full screen mode on a high resolution monitor. I keep overlooking attachments because the tiny paperclip and the tiny link to the attachment at the bottom of the screen are too easy to miss. A more obvious visual cue is needed. Perhaps display the paperclip in a contrasting color and move the attachment link to just below the message header instead of putting it at the very bottom of the screen so far from the message body? Up to now this was just an inconvenience, but today it actually cost me $50 because of an attached notice I missed even though I had read the email several times.
Can't send messages. I get the new message widow. I type in sender email address, title, and the message, but the is no send button!
I keep checking "manual updates only" But it changes back to Auto which is pissing me off as the view and setting change......How do I stop this crazy Sh-t......

How does one enable calendars in Thunderbird version 115.8.0? When I click the calendar icon on the left of the page, I get a calendar displayed but it has a message highlighted in yellow that says: "All calendars are currently disabled. I cannot find anything in settings or elsewhere to enable calendars.

Hello. I was searching my Inbox for e-mails I knew I had, but they weren't showing up! After doing a general search, I found the e-mails in the search results. Then, I clicked "open in conversation" and they were all there and labeled with "Inbox" or "Sent" folder, respectively. So I right-clicked and selected, "open in containing folder", but it didn't work! The "containing folder" opened [i.e., the Inbox], but didn't show the e-mail! So then I searched manually by scrolling in the Inbox to the date of the "hidden" e-mail -- yet it wasn't there!
(In other words, when I did "open in conversation" from the search results, it showed the conversation, but I can't actually see the e-mails in their containing folder!) Besides for this problem, but I think there are a lot of other e-mails that are "hiding" in this way as well. What should I do?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Sincerely, Jonathan Rosenberg

It is a very bad sign that I have to find my password and log into Firefox to tell you that the email service on Thunderbird SUCKS.
Maybe if I GOOGLE looking for an answer someone will post directions how to use your product.

I need to send emails from my Thunderbird email client to recipients but in that email also attach other emails messages that I have received that may or may not have arrived into the same email account inbox folder as the one from which I am sending.
Another way of asking the same question is that I want to attach email messages or copy and paste them, from one location into my outgoing email message? Is this possible in Thunderbird?
In Outlook, I can simply copy the relevant email that I want to send on and then paste that into the outgoing email message; is the same possible in Thunderbird? I am using 115.7.0 (64-bit)

At age 85 I apparently have lost my "Primary Password". And I've tried the re-setting of this from the help pages with no success. "Primary Removal" looks very problematic in that I will lose so much of my saved material. If we could only have what other programs have--sending texts to my phone 510-575-6326 or other "proofs" that I'm who I say I am.... That would solve my problem. I've been using Thunderbird for some decades to support a charity program for impoverished Haitian children. Now I'm facing a complete rental of Thunderbird, or just using Google which has--as I've discovered now--things like "mail merge".... HELP!
