Hi. Long time user, first time writer....

I like the older versions of Thunderbird without message threading. I tried to turn off in Settings Config but did not work. Can I revert to an older version? Or can you please tell me how to make the threading stop? I am on a Mac.

Thank you! Frani

Hi Thunderbird keeps asking for my password

I followed the solution below

To stop Thunderbird from asking for password every time you send an email, do this: In Thunderbird, click Tools, Account Settings, and in left pane, click "Outgoing Server" Click Edit. Under "Security and Authentication" DESELECT "Use name and password" Click OK and again OK

However Under Securuty and Authetication I do not get the option to DESELECT and Click OK twice. But I do have authentication method where I can change from Normal password, or No Authentication, or Encrypted password....

Hope you can help What can I do? Thanks Richard

I have Thunderbird mail. I have had it for years. But it has been hacked ? by whom. I believe it is Google. As I have a Gnome account and they constantly want me to delete it. And I am unable to get my mail on Thunderbird because Google it appears won't send it. I have a google account on my Linux Mint. I have checked my google account and password. I am also unable to upload photos on Facebook Lite. I uploaded an embarrassing block of my email by our Health Minister Mary Ann Thomas and I have been hacked ever since. I don't understand why Google would be involved if its only the Victorian state Government. Are you able to help me. I am going to get an external CD rom and load Duckduckgo on it to see if this will help. I don't write code but can understand basic concepts and load via instructions. I'm a 78 year old widow with a lot of discernment. The Victorian Australia situation worries me and I talk about it. I'm wondering if we have any free speech at all

Following a switch off and restart triggered I think by a Windows update, Thunderbird is not displaying any messages in my Inbox, though it is showing the number of messages in the Inbox title bar. 'Drafts' and 'Sent' all display correctly, but the 'Inbox' is blank with a grey icon of an envelope and the statement: "No message found". I am an IT novice. I looked on the 'help' pages. I have checked that no filters are set. I have right-clicked on the 'Inbox' title to display the menu with 'properties' at the bottom. I have clicked on that to bring up the dialog box with the "Repair" icon. It shows 'Inbox' in the 'Name' box but I note that the 'Location' box is blank. Presumably it should not be. Presumably it should show either the location of locally stored messages on my hard drive, or the location of the messages on the email server. I am not sure which. I have found the directory on my hard drive where I believe the messages are stored locally. The size of the file suggests to me that they are all there. The periodic 'Checking for new messages' is happening, but nothing is displaying, though a check via webmail shows that new messages are arriving on the server. What should I do to get my Inbox to display correctly? With many thanks, Iain

But I have everything set up correctly. moreover I have already successfully sent emails and received them a few weeks ago and I haven't changed the settings since then. And now for some reason it's not working

Hi my Thunderbird email says it was at 95% full so I tried to set it to automatically delete emails older than a certain date, or a certain amount. I tried both options under account settings both delete all emails over 50,000 and tried delete emails older then 1000 days. Thunderbird is still loading emails well past both the number and the amount of days ago. In addition before it said I had roughly a little over 100k emails, and now it says downloading message header 1 of 431,000 at the bottom. The only other thing I did was click an option that popped up saying it fixed most problems with emails not loading properly by fixing the folder or something like that. I cannot find the option again however anywhere. In addition now that it is loading over 400k emails, it has emails at the top of the date saying from today at all different times which are 100% old emails so I have no idea what is going on or how to fix. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as it is completely slowing down my computer and almost impossible to send an email while downloading. Thanks so much!

Is there a way to turn on a third line in the message list to see the "preview text" (35-40 characters) that appears in most modern email programs? This is so helpful in quickly deciding which emails to open among the hundreds that arrive in our inboxes these days. Many mass mailers include these "preview texts" to provide additional information about the content. Coming from Outlook and Apple Mail on PCs, tablets, and phones, I miss these. The third line in the entries in the Thunderbird message list is mysteriously blank. I looked for a checkbox in settings, but couldn't find one.

Seems like every week Mozilla does a update to Thunderbird. Every time becomes another problem. Look at all the HELP issues on this forum. There is a old saying " (KISS)KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID" First my "TRASH" disappeared and it now it goes into the "JUNK" file. Then the "JUNK" icon disappeared and when customized back to the top it no longer worked. I had done away with the password having to constantly being entered EVERY time I to tried to receive or send or even look at a existing email already received. And NOW the demanding a password is back with the last weekly update. Now I am constantly having to put in a password that I deleted from the "SAVED PASSWORD" and no NOT have the blocked checked in the "Use Primary Password".

I wish I could do a complete CLEAN REINSTALL OF THUNDERBIRD BUT EVERY TIME IT STILL SEEMS TO RECOVER THE PREVIOUS VERSION. Any help would be appreciated. <redacted>
