We have had a longstanding intermittent problem that is gradually getting worse. When sending emails the outgoing SMTP sending happens quickly, but there are massive delays in saving the sent message to IMAP folders.

Often it can take well over 1minute to save a message and quite often it does not save at all eventually we get a timeout with the error "Your message has been sent but a copy cannot be saved".

I appreciate there is the option to save to a local folder but it is a real pain to have to use this all the time.

This delays are happening across several different email accounts hosted with more than one ISP and whilst it is an intermittent problem it is occurring more than 50% of the time across multiple PCs.

Note: We use the option "Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to". However, the problem also arises with new outgoing messages that are not replies that would just be saved in the "Sent" folder.

We are using Thunderbird 115.1.1 (64-bit) running on Windows desktop PCs and laptops.

I have contacted the ISPs concerned but they think it is nothing to do with them and suggest it is an issue with Thunderbird.

I see this has been reported by other Thunderbird users, but the help resposes do not seem to offer a definitive solution. If it really is a problem with the ISP's IMAP hosting, please advise how I can gather evidence to convince the ISPs that they have a server problem. Our broadband speed is good and there are no significant delays with any other internet activity. Thanks.

App. 60 mails were left (i.e. not archived) in inbox Tried to archive one file afterwards from inbox. OK, went correct to 2024 in the same folder as all the others. However, this mail was visible in Archives, 2024 in TB. I moved it back to inbox without any problem but strangely it still also is in Archives.sbd, 2024! HOW CAN I GET THE EMAILS (app. 3,000) FROM Archives.sbd, 2024 BACK TO TB?

Trying to delete an email account that is no longer used. System continues to attempt to read from the provider because I cannot remove the account and is delivering error messages every few minutes which is very annoying.

I've gone through Account settings>Remove account>Confirm remove BUT the only active option is Cancel. The Remove and More Info buttons are greyed out.

How do I migrate the old Thunderbird profile to the new Thunderbird? Background: Up until mid-Jan 2024 I was using Thunderbird on Windows 7. In mid-Jan I did a "clean" install of Windows and installed Thunderbird. Due to a corrupted Windows installation, I had to do another "clean" install of Windows 10 Pro. Today I installed Thunderbird version 115.9.0. Everything went well. However, I don't have access to my old - pre-mid Jan profile - which has e-mails and contacts I need to access. Here's my setup: Thunderbird installed in D:\Thunderbird New Thunderbird profile is in M:\Thunderbird Old Thunderbird profile is in M:\Thunderbird-OLD

How do I migrate/import the old messages, address book/contacts, and find out which extension I had installed?

Thanks.

I am trying to switch my active and working Thunderbird 116 for Mac from pop to imap. After entering name email and password in the "set up your existing email address" I recieve the green box message indicating "the following server settings were found". When clicking the blue "done" button at the bottom of the page i get the "unable to log in to the server" error message. The mail account continues to work properly with the pop settings. Are there any workarounds or solutions to this issue? Thanks!

With the moving of Cox emails to Yahoo would it be feasible for Thunderbird to put an instruction list(with screenshots) of how to get all our TB email accounts from Cox to TB? Do we have to delete all our TB email accounts and re-enter them into TB under the new Yahoo or can we just change the server settings on the existing Cox settings? If just changing server settings what are the settings for the new yahoo? All my accounts are IMAP so if instructions could be made, maybe one for IMAP and one for POP for those who use either. Thank you

I've been plagued with incoming messages that use a foreground/background color combination too dark to read without forwarding the message and then applying white to the swept text. The uploaded image shows the progression of reading the message, sweeping the text in the message (still uncomfortably dark with low contrast), forwarding the message (still unreadable), then select the text and apply white as the text color. I've googled this problem to no avail as most hits are for color contrast in the inbox format for color.

One solution is to switch themes from "dark" or "system theme - auto" to "light" then Thunderbird switches to black text on a white background and the incoming message is readable.

Is there a setting I'm missing to automatically solve this without having to swap theme's to read a message then swap back to preferred dark mode?

I am getting the Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants to access your Google Account all the time while using TBM, I have removed the gmail account and the pop up does not show, so I know it is for the email account just removed. I re-add the email address and enter the email address and password and let it find the config itself. Click Done, and get the Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants to access your Google Account again, then click Allow and get the Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com. message in the bottom left of my desktop. How can i get gmail to work again please.

When doing somethings in Thunderbird, like setting up or changing message filters, a new window appears on the screen with the options. However this window (and others like it) are often bigger than the screen size. (I use an old 1280x1024 screen as I am sight impaired, but even ona full size screen this can happen.)

The problem is that these windows are not adjustable in size. If the button you require is off thee screen. it is not possible to click on it. This makes configuration very hard, especially if it is the Submit button.

Is there any easy solution? There are many times when this can happen and adjusting the default text size at the system level does not help. When the window displayed is too large and you cannot shrink it or move it enough to display the buttons you want.

Thanks for any help.

I have my email addresses saved and would be happy to do a fresh install, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this. I am very much obliged for any help you may offer. I really am getting fed-up with Thunderbird which is getting increasingly user unfriendly and more and more geekified, e.g. the enforced belief on users that every user wants threading. To add to the gneral irritation, half a dozen emails have suddenly vanished from the folder they had been moved to.

Here's what happened.

1. The emails were moved from the iinbox to the folder.

2. They were unthreaded.

3. They then disappeared.

A search has not found them and opening and checking all folders has not found them.

So, two questions:

1, Where are they?

2. How do I get them back?
