Since Thunderbird was last updated on the 5th August, the page to compose a new email, no longer has a "send" or "attach" tab. I cannot now send any emails through Thunderbird. I have requested technical support twice, however, the only response has been an automated message saying someone will get back to me. That has not happened. I am only able to send any emails via our internet provider's website, which is Slingshot.co.nz.

I’m a new user, using Thunderbird v. 115.13.0 (64-bit), running under Windows 10. If you can help me with the following problem, I’ll be grateful.

I added three already-existing Gmail accounts to Thunderbird using IMAP, and everything was working fine. But when a week later I added a fourth account (once again with IMAP) -- not a gmail.com account this time, but one hosted by Gmail -- Thunderbird did strange things with the downloading of all the messages. It seemed at first to be working fine: downloading first all the message headers, then the messages in the Inbox, then those in the All Mail folder and in various other folders. I began using the new account, and everything seemed good.

But later on it started downloading all the Inbox messages again (only for this new account), but this time progressively more slowly. In fact, it slowed Thunderbird down so much that it became unusable.

I quit Thunderbird and restarted, but that didn’t help: It began once again to download inbox messages, very slowly, making Thunderbird once again unusably slow.

At this point I deleted the new account (including all the message data), then added it once again. But I ran into the same problem.

The Inbox in Gmail has about 37,000 messages, and the All Mail folder, about 47,000. There are no messages in the Trash.

Thanks very much for any help you can give me.

All the best, Alan

I have used Thunderbird as my email client for years. A while ago I noticed 'nstmp' folders that I did not create and that I can not get rid of. They are subfolders of the 'inbox' under 'Local Folders'. I tried deleting them in Thunderbird (right click, select delete) but that just gets the 'processing' circle of death. I tried deleting them from the program files for Thunderbird. No luck.

Any other suggestions? They do not affect the program but they annoy me and the number slowly grows. I just got a new computer and thought I would try to fix the problem one more time.

Life long outlook user and switched to Thunderbird a year ago. It has its quirks and I have learned to deal with them so all good. I run a micro business from home and totally rely on apps. The only app that is local is Thunderbird. All others are cloud-based. Wondering if Thunderbird will develop a cloud platform alongside the local app? Happy to pay a subscription.

I am so frustrated! I have to unexpectedly go away so I got my old laptop out so I could still deal with emails. When I opened thunderbird it said the profile was missing. I tried exporting the one from my desktop pc but it is over 1 GB and my USB stick is not big enough to take it. Being desperate I thought I would just delete thunderbird on my laptop and pay to dowload a new copy. I assumed it would just be like downloading the software for the first time and I would have to set all the servers etc up again and I have a copy of all my email contacts. However after installing it I still get that the profile is missing. Aany help appreciated

I use Thunderbird (TB) 115.13.0 64-bit on Windows 11. TB displays in 1 window with 4 tabs (Mail, calendar, address book, tasks). In the Address Book (AB) tab when I double click on a contact to edit or view it, a new window used to open. I found that most useful. For a while now, the contact opens in a pane in the address book tab: -Either a large pane to the right of the existing AB panes, requiring the TB window to be widened such that it takes up most of my 27" display (when table layout is not chosen). -Or a new pane at the bottom of the address book tab which makes a small area to edit, and a small area to view the list of contacts (when Table Layout is not chosen). Question: Can TB Contacts be configured to open a contact in a new window (or new tab) instead of a new pane in the AB tab? Thanks!!!

I have an IMAP account which receives general email and email from a number of mailing lists.

I only want to see the mailing list email on my laptop, where I run Thunderbird (115.12.2).

So (on the laptop) I have Message Filters to move the email for each mailing list to a corresponding folder. But with IMAP I cannot add a rule to delete the email from the IMAP server. (I guess that is because folders in the IMAP accounts Inbox are resynced with the server ?)

What I'd *really* like to do is have a 'Retention Policy' (in the 'Folder Properties') to 'Remove From Server' -- so that anything appearing in such a folder would be removed from the server and/or not resynced with the server.

What I have done is create the mailing list folders in 'Local Folders'. This has the effect I want: it removes the mailing list email from the IMAP server.

However, the Local Folders languish at the bottom in the Folder Pane. I really want the mailing list folders to appear in the Inbox (for the account in question -- one of several I have).

Curiously: in the 'Saved Search Properties' for the Inbox, I can go to "Select the folders to search" and I can see all the Local Folders. I can select mailing list folders and when I 'Update', those folders disappear from Local Folders, but they do *not* appear in the Inbox. When I restart Thunderbird, those folders magically reappear in the Local Folders and still do not appear in the Inbox -- even though they are still selected to do so !

Even if it was possible to show some local folders in the Inbox they would not be in the Inbox for the account.

I do not know how Thunderbird knows which folders are local and which ones are not. Is it possible to change a folder setting somewhere so that a folder in an account's inbox is actually local (or is treated as local) ?
