Four accounts: Rogers Yahoo, Office365, GMX, and a second Yahoo account

When Thunderbird recently asked to access to my provider's server, I gave my Rogers Yahoo account and password; everything looked fine. But when I tried to use my second Yahoo email account, all the folders contained the same data as the Rogers Yahoo account, even though the email addresses were different; my original emails were gone from the Inbox and other folders.

So I began to follow the instructions in Mozilla's page "OAuth2 Authentication for Yahoo, AOL and ATT". 1) with Config Editor, changed "mailnews.oauth.usePrivateBrowser" to TRUE 2) checked for "Accept cookies from sites" in Privacy & Security settings 3) checked authentication settings: All Outgoing servers were set to "OAuth2", as well as Yahoo and Office365 incoming servers. The GMX incoming server was set at "Normal Password" with no option for "OAuth2". 4) I am in Canada and do not use VPN. 5) Finally, I deleted the second Yahoo account (tc2002ca) and all its data from Thunderbird. I logged into Yahoo! Mail online to make sure I had the correct password. I then added tc2002ca as a new account using manual configuration. I entered all the settings to match the Rogers Yahoo account, except (of course) the password which was associated with the tc2002ca account. The result: same as before - all the folders of this account were identical to the Rogers Yahoo account.

To summarize, all the settings in the two Yahoo accounts were the same (imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com) except the passwords. When I "tested connection to server" in each case it came back "Successful". Please help me get back to having two Yahoo accounts in Thunderbird, as I have had for years. By the way, I have had no problem using SeaMonkey in a similar way. Thanks!

I apologize for the unhelpful summary line, but I am totally new to Thunderbird and the Unified Inbox is acting so strangely that I don't have any simple way to describe it.

Many (but not all) of the emails are displayed twice in the list of messages.

When I delete a message that isn't doubled, the message disappears from the inbox (as it should).

But when I delete one of the doubled messages ONE disappears as it should and on the other Thunderbird clears the From and Subject fields and changes the date to 12/31/1969, 19:00 -- the changed entry stays in the list and the body of the email is still shown in the lower pane. The only way I can get rid of the message is by selecting another folder (ANY other folder) then when I return to the Unified Inbox the deleted messages will be gone from the list.

I can't believe that this is how Thunderbird is supposed to work, so I assume I have something configured incorrectly (although nearly everything is still at the defaults that the installation gave me).

Dear people at Mozilla Thunderbird Email: Please STOP sending me emails to solicit access to my Google account. I received this message: Unable to connect

The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Thunderbird is permitted to access the web.

I am not receiving new email. What do I need to do to get it working again?

First - sorry if the post is messy, but I don't see a Preview option today

PRELUDE: When I create a email to send to Joe@hotmail.com, on clicking SEND, a popup wants a password for a different account:

EXAMPLE: (emails are faked here for privacy)

Assume I have the following email accounts:

  1. john@fakes.xy
  2. jane@morefakes.vc
  3. fred@deftly.xc

I compose a email to john@fakes.xy. I click SEND, and there is a popup stating:

Status: Sending message... Progress {progress bar}

and second popup with :

Enter your password for jane@morefakes.vc on mail.{IP name}.com

and a third popup with:

Login to server mail.{ip-name} with username jane@morefakes.vc failed

I have attached a screen cap (redacted) as seen in actual.

SUMMARY:

  • When addressing email to Joe, upon SEND, the errors show password to use is listing a different account.

I ran Troubleshooting Mode with no errors, except, same thing. Wants password from a different email account.

Thanks for reading this, ~r

Believe my T-bird account has somehow been corrupted. Takes forever to load on PC and always puts new emails in Trash folder. Often does not accept correct password. If I save / backup PROFILE, uninstall T-Bird and delete any Thunderbird folders on PC, if I restore per backup, will I be restoring the corrupted app. Don't want to loose email addresses, thousands of emails and email folder structure. Will a restore work? Thank you. Greg D

PS Version of T-Bird on laptop still puts all new email in Trash, but loads much more quickly, etc.

Hello, I apologize, I am uncertain if this is the appropriate place to post this topic. I am having significant difficulty with the forum system when we require assistance.

I have been using Thunderbird for over a year now, and I have wanted to stop using it since the first month of use. Several times a month, I am unable to send messages even though I haven't made any changes. The message keeps popping up: “The message failed to send. The message could not be sent because the connection to the outgoing server (SMTP) ”server name" failed. The server may be unavailable or refusing SMTP connections. Please check that your outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

This is supposed to be my work email. I understand that ThunderBird is a volunteer platform. And that you do what you can, but I can't afford to be stuck like this for a “yes” or a “no.” You were highly recommended to me by my website host, and I regret it. I am no longer in contact with that person, so I can no longer get the assistance I needed several times a month to get the mailbox up and running again. However, I continue to receive mail at that address.

Is there a way to automatically transfer emails from ThunderBird to Proton Mail? If so, how do I do that, please?

Thank you.

Hello, In my Mozilla Thunderbird email client I'm sorting received emails into 'conversations' which in Thunderbird is known as 'Threaded View'. I find this to be useful functionality but one problem I have is that it's not obvious when there's a new email in that thread. The only way to check for a new message in a thread, is to click on the '<n> replies' in the very first threaded email, so that when that expands to show all content in that thread - one can then see that there are new emails that haven't yet been read. Is there any way that new (unread) emails in Threaded View can be made obvious ?. Regards,

The problem is with thunderbird not sending smtp. Tried turning firewall and antivirus off, no help. Internet connection is glassfibre, internet works OK.

I deleted my Thunderbird account and created a new one on the same computer. I used a Profile saved on my external hard drive. The address book info was replicated. Please, I am not super techno-savvy, so take me step by step. Thank you.
