Can you please program that sign in is stored within "Mozilla Thunderbird mail", not on a cookie, because I erase cookies every day, sign in to the "Mozilla Thunderbird mail", Windows 10 version, is becoming a problem. Of course I can solve this problem by signing in new every day, and the next day, and the next day, but, as mentioned, this kind of sign in can be a headache, especially with a really good password.

Program stopped and lost all emails and cannot recover - I cannot get a password change to get back my file. It says the file exists on your servers but won’t allow to get to them. We have been using this email service for several years without too many issues. How do I recover these files? I have followed your password dialogue with no change. I have gone to the host site at mail.yahoo.com and got recent emails and a massive trash file with older emails-some of them need to be saved. We also established files in the left column for business and escrow data which we can only get upon full retrieval of the data. Please help if you can and thanks.

I pop my email forward from Verizon/Aol to Thunderbird. I don't store messages on AOL. I gave my name, phone number, and email to a phishing scheme.....woke the next morning feeling like something was wrong, googled the email address the "facebook marketplace seller" had given me, and found the address all over the internet selling cars at too-good-to-be-true prices :( My email address is used for financial accounts and other important stuff. Do I need to get a new email address for those accounts? Is my computer (Mac) now more vulnerable to hacking?

thanks very much :)

For the last 3 days Thunderbird has been unable to access my Gmails...

The same thing happened in early May after a Thunderbird update. The suggested fix was to enable Google access to 'less secure apps', until such time as Thunderbird was fixed.

Apparently whatever was fixed has now been unfixed; it seems that Thunderbird has once again become a 'less secure app'.

I have once more enabled Google access to 'less secure apps', so I can get my messages again. I don't think right to compromise my security for the sake on one piece of software. I have used Thunderbird for many many years, and am reluctant to have to abandon it...

The blog titled "Thunderbird, Enigmail and OpenPGP" (https://blog.thunderbird.net/2019/10/thunderbird-enigmail-and-openpgp/) states: "Users who haven’t used Enigmail previously will need to opt in to use OpenPGP messaging, as encryption will not be enabled automatically. However, Thunderbird 78 will help users discover the new functionality." I have just installed Thunderbird 78.0 and have gone to Account Settings / End-to-End Encryption. The page only shows S/MIME as an encryption option -- I can't find OpenPGP anywhere.

Am I looking in the right place?

Thanks in advance.

So a new change in version 78 is that "Thunderbird will now ask for OS account password before displaying saved passwords". This is akin to a business or credit card company asking me for my Social Security Number, in other words, totally unacceptable. This is a deal killer for me, I'll never update to version 78.0 as long as this "feature" is in place.

Today I recieved a message telling that I had comitted an email breach, in respect of a recent communication with 'WattPad'. This is a compamy I used to deal with but have not done for many years. Therefore do I regard this as a threat, or can I ignore it? Conversly should I take some action and if so what action should I take?

Thank you, Michael Kimber

I have set up Thunderbird to require a password to access my email. However, I just noticed that if I click 'cancel' on the pop-up asking me to enter my password, it will exit the pop-up and leave my email open (to read, write, etc). So the password protection doesn't actually do anything. How do I fix this? Is this a known bug?

Good Morning in the new version of Thunderbird 78.0, when I set my mail account, doesn't appear anymore the popup to accept all the certificates, so my personal certificates cannot be installed. My account mail doesn't work. in the previous version 68.10 all works fine. when I set my personal mail with our personal server the pop up to accept the certificates appear and just after all works properly, because my certificates go in the list of accepted certificates. Someone knows about that?
