Due to an apparent update to a video driver on June 7, 2022, my Win 10 profiles were reconfigured causing me to lose all profile setup data. This includes all my Thunderbird Emails. I had 4 accounts set up. All the address books are gone too which is the bigger problem. [The browser bookmarks are all gone too but not as concerning as my contacts, and calendar). I tried to copy out the user profiles but my remote drive did not get the roaming data. Not sure why. I do have several saved backups done over a few years. However, there does not appear to be a simple method to extract the saved data to recover key information. The address book and subfolders are most important. How can I do this? The back up folder names all look like this: y1cde7nd.default-release-20220601-1733

Given the increased incidence of cyber attacks, it has become very important to save critical data to an off-line location. However, one must have the tools to recover what was saved, otherwise, we are saving to a write only memory. There is something WOM about that :) Thanks for any help. peterdev@devita.com

a week or so ago, Thunderbird started removing deleted messages from trash, this is very inconvient (all are POP accounts)

I tried reinstalling Thunderbird, but to no avail. I cannot find a setting for this. I delete message after reading and then clear the deleted messages older than 3 weeks or so, so I have them to refer to. How do I correct this?

HI,

I am trying to get my email message list to have the same vertical view as I did with Outlook instead of the spread-out view that Thunderbird uses as default. I wanted this compact so I can view the message in a larger window in vertical view. I have a screenshot with two examples. The top portionos Thunderbird and the bottom is Windows Mail (I didn't use Outlook as I uninstalled it, but the format is nearly the same view in WM). To read the subect/sender I have to drag that column to the left to see the contents and it's off-putting. The left column in WM with message windos is the view I want.

Since Verizon switched to AOL I have had email problems. I have two verizon.net addresses and one tampabay.rr.com. After finding help in the forum for creating a temporary app password I have been able to send Verizon email but not receive. The tampabay.rr.com works for sending and receiving. I have tried multiple times to fix but one of two things happen: dialog box says "sending email" but doesn't complete, or it continues to ask for a new password. AOL web mail works fine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Dell laptop recently updated to windows 11, Thundebird 91.7.0 (64-bit).

Suddenly I cannot login, it keeps asking me for a password. If I use www.Office.com, I can login with the identical username and password that no longer work with Tbird. My other three email clients that I use the same Tbird for aggregation still work

Hi very new to Thunderbird, and I'm having a nightmare getting discarded folders and sub-folders to empty from the Local Folders - Trash folder. I have already tried every solution I have found online, including:

The obvious- right-clicking on each folder and sub-folder in the Trash folder, and selecting delete. After of the confirmation of the choice, nothing happens.

Deleting the trash and trash.msf files in the Mail - Local Folders directory (when TBird is closed) and restarting.

Deleting the foldertree.json and trash.sbd files and restarting.

Deleting the global-messages-db.sqlite file to rebuild the golbal database and retrying everything above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. I have been using Thunderbird for years and it's been great. I just recently purchased a new Windows 11 computer and installed Thunderbird 91.10.0 (64-bit) on it. I've set up my 3 different email accounts on it using IMAP and all are sending and receiving fine. My Gmail account seems to be leaving old emails on my local machine but both my Yahoo and GMX accounts are deleting old emails from my inbox after 1 month. I don't want this to happen and want them to be left both on the server and on my local machine until I delete them. This works fine on my older computer, but not on the new one.

In Properties for those accounts, in the Retention Policy, "Use My Account Settings" is not selected, while "Don't Delete Any Messages" and "Always Keep Starred Messages" both are selected. In the account settings, "Clean Up (Expunge) Inbox On Exit" is not selected and "Keep Messages For All Folders On This Account", "Don't Delete Any Messages", and "Always Keep Starred Messages" are all selected.

I also receive emails from all of these accounts on my Android phone and they are staying there and not being deleted when they are more than 30 days old.

I have no idea why my older messages are not staying on my computer or what else I should try.

Any help that I could get with this would be really appreciated.

Getting a lot of added content added at the botttom of emails I have sent using TB. Looks almost like source code. I bypassed TB by going straight to my ISP webmail and it runs clean. I've tried different computers, different mail servers (hot mail and peoplepc) three different Linux operating systems and Windows 10 ....they all have the extra content added at the bottom if they are sent thru TB. Got any ideas?

I have Thunderbird email. When I delete an email, any email...... most all emails, they keep reappearing in the inbox within 1 second. I can delete the same email 6-10 times before it will go away! I have even tried to drag it into the trash, and it reappears. I've mentioned it in a thread, but no comments related to it. Someone mentioned a "specific series of emails" that he deleted with this problem, but for me it's about every email!! Very frustrating!

Thunderbird now uses SQLITE data base files for Address Books. I'd like to copy an address book to another computer for use with Thunderbird there. How does Thunderbird recognize that a given SQLITE file is an address book? Is it solely based upon the file name (to the left of the .SQLITE porition of the name) beginning with the string "abook"? Is there something else in some configuration file that maintains this notion? Are there multiple files associated with a given address book? For example, I see these files in my profile directory: abook.sqlite abook.sqlite-shm abook.sqlite-wal So, I'm guessing the answer to that last question is Yes.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

In Thunderbird, I accidentally deleted the Bulk Mail folder from my AOL account. It cannot be dragged out of Trash, nor will the server allow me to delete it from Trash so that I can rebuild a new Bulk Mail folder. What can I do to restore the folder to its proper place?

Filters don't always run

I have a bunch of filters ( quite a lot but not, I think excessive judging by comments I've seen here -not in the hundreds). The filters are created by using the Quickfilters add on. And by and large they work really well. I'm using POP3 in a Windows 10 machine. I keep TB up to date and it's 64bit version. However, sometimes the filters just don't run. I think it's when I've recently logged in to the computer/user. But a bunch of messages that should have been sorted into folders will routinely be sitting in the global inbox when I launch TB. And they won't move even when I manually tell TB to filter them. It doesn't matter if I tell TB to run the filters on the folder or individual messages. Messages that tehn arrive after that will play nicely and slide into their folders. The log shown nothing of these messages. It is as if the filters hadn't woken up yet when the emails came through. Except than that filters still won't then work on the messages when run manually. As if the TB rules engine won't recognise they exist. Any ideas what I should do?
