Since Thunderbird (Macintosh version) was recently upgraded automatically, it now crashes every time I try to use the Groups or Smart Groups function from my Contacts app to send emails to groups of correspondence. This is a grave problem, sufficient enough to require a change in email clients if it isn't soon repaired. Additionally, Tag menu no longer shows the colors assigned to it, which is less important, but troublesome. My system is MacOS High Sierra, Version 10.13.6

Please advise as to when these bugs will be fixed. Thank you.

IMAP downloader needs to set a security exception to use 127.0.0.1 but TB "Get" box stays grey, or cannot find the server. It worked years ago the first time I set it up. Stopped functioning a while back when the IMAP provider "updated" their Bridge app.

Also, why does the box pre-enter "https//" when that is not necessary for the address?

A year ago, I copied the contents of my only profile in AppData/Thunderbird/Roaming/Thunderbird from my old PC to the same path in the new PC. Both were 78.6.1 (32-bit) at the time.

Behaviour has changed slightly with v91, so I thought I'd ask again. (original question here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1323164)

Working -I can see all emails/folders/accounts/etc -I can receive emails - all functions to do with receive seem to work fine

Not working -When I reply to an email, all fields look correct except that the window shows Write: (no subject) even though there is one. If I rewrite the subject that updates to the newly written one. The Send button is disabled, so can't send. -When I write a new email, when I type an email address into the 'to' field, the 'send' button becomes enabled, but pressing the button does nothing. I can press it lots of times - it doesn't seem to try to send - no errors. -My address books aren't showing although it does auto-complete typed email addresses. -Calendar is working correctly apart from when I dismiss an alert, the pop-up remains (empty but still there - I can close it). Mentioned in case it offers a clue.

I still have access to my old HDD, but now it's been a year I have downloaded thousands more emails.

Tried Copying and recopying the files. Deleting all adbook files and letting it rebuild

Noticed I have multiple prefs files (16). Some empty. prefs-15 is the second largest at 59kb with a date of 8/10/20 (when everything worked on old PC) prefs.js is 65kb with today's date.

I'd be happy to be talked through rebuilding a profile from scratch as long as I could get all my email back in and in the current sub-folder structure.

Currently, I'm using webmail to send, but I am starting to lose track of some important conversations as 'sent email' is never downloaded.

I had been using the beta version and then had some bugs. Hence downgraded to the latest release version.

After this in some of my local folders, the emails are missing. I am able to see the total number of mail correctly but when i view it, same email is seen 50 times and it gets repeated. I am also not able to search in the folder now.

I have a new iMac 2921 and have installed thunderbird and manually configured successfully. So initially all is well until I shut my iMac down when the thunderbird setting are not retained . So next time I boot up I have to go through the configuration exercise all over again. This is very tedious and obviously not right. Do you have an answer to this problem please ?

Thanks

I have just started using the hubspot crm and I have been using the thunderbird task function to keep track of my tasks. My Question is the following Can I migrate my tasks to MS outlook? I tried the export function and imported that to outlook but I saw no tasks whatsoever in outlook when I imported it. Apart from manually adding the tasks I have from Thunderbird to hubspot and Outlook, how can I do this. (Remember outlook did not seem to show me any of my due tasks for the day despite importing the calendar which was blank as I rarely use that in thunderbird).

Any advice on this would be helpful. Thank in advance

First, last year migrate would not work because my pc had profiles in a non standard location. The migrate instructions still do not reflect a way to migrate that case, specifically, its not enough to copy the profiles folder, the <user>/appdata/roaming/thunderbird/*.ini files have to be ported. Namely installs.ini and profiles.ini. The instructions should just start with that thunderbird folder, because starting at the profile folder and going up two folders does not get you there for a non default install.

==================================================================

In any case, once again I am trying to migrate, this time I am migrating a default install, meaning the entire profiles and .ini files are under <user>/appdata/roaming/thunderbird/

Yet I have the same symptom as a year ago, once i copy the old pc roaming/thunderbird over the new pc, then start thunderbird, it acts as if it is a new install and keeps prompting for new account.

The old pc is up to date ( 91.3.0 64 bit), as is the new pc. Both pc's win 10 both up to date.

Is there a way to force the new install to stop acting like a new install.?

============================================

ps - I have been thunderbird user almost as long as thunderbird has been around. The migrate I have done over and over, almost always it does not function as advertised. I will donate as much as needed if someone volunteers to integrate the migrate function into thunderbird. Beginning with a user controlled way for thunderbird to STOP thinking its a new install.

And I don't want a calendar > can it be removed?

Hello everyone.

I had an email account and set up on TB to download all messages to my computer so I could free up space on the server.

Now the account has been disabled and I need to access downloaded emails for new work. However, when I try to access the profiles again, TB opens the login screen (which I no longer have). If I try to use offline mode, I cannot see the emails either.

They were IMAP accounts, by the way.

How can I access these emails if I no longer have the account on the server?

Thanks for your time!

After a fresh install of Thunderbird and after using a USB thumb drive to copy and paste the proper Thunderbird profiles folder to the new Roaming folder a problem persists. The new install of Thunderbird requires the USB thumb drive to be inserted into a USB port in order to function properly. Without the USB thumb drive in a port, the new version will not check mail nor does it show the default profile mail boxes (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash). In short... the transfer works perfectly only when the USB used to make the transfer remains connected.

I must be overlooking something but after many attempts I'm stumped.

AOL just required me to delete my Thunderbird account and re-install it for security purposes. They claimed that my old folders and emails would still be there, but they're gone. I think I need to find my 'old' profile on my laptop to link Thunderbird to it again, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone guide me through that? It would be a disaster if all of my old email folders were gone.
