This AM I opened my Trash folder (where all my deleted emails are sent) to refer to an email several months old. Disturbingly, the only files showing were deleted files for the past four days only. I did not delete them because I sometime refer to an older deleted email and generally delete them when they are more than six months old, manually. I checked the settings which indicate no emails are to be deleted. I also tried a repair for the Trash file with no success. I would appreciate a response as to why this is happening and how to correct it (and how to recover the missing emails). Many thanks. Stan

This is to advise you that there appears to be several problems associated with an upgrade to BT Yahoo" mail that was implemented today. (Two problems affect Thunderbird. I'll deal with Tbird seperately). The Mozilla issue is that I requested a password reset to myxxx.btinternet.com account and the message I recieved was in what BT describes as in basic nmode - the way you can read the message without opening it. It was then passed through to Tbird on the same way. I managed to reset my password by selecting the message and viewed it in basic mode{!} which had more structure than before and I was able to identify the string needed to enter into the browser to get to change passwaord - hence I can now e-mail.

Two issues have transpired with Tbird that I assume are assocciated with this BT update:

All messsages come through, lacking formatting and graphics, as potential junk mail until I click 'not junk mail, when the message is fully displayed. Once this is done subsequent messages from the sender are OK.

All tags have been lost, (how can I get them back, if at all?)

Also did BT inform the rest of the world that it was changing it's email and publish a scedule of technical changes and impact so othere who interact with the service can effect any changes to their side?

I can forward e-mails if required.

Hello. I have created a website that I wish to share the link with friends by email. Unfortunately, when I try to send an email using Mozilla Thunderbird with this link in the text I get the following error message: "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: We're sorry, but we can't send your email. Either the subject matter, a link, or an attachment potentially contains spam, or phishing or malware. Please check or edit your message and try sending it again. (6-1-3-2) ID (5ED9AFBE0769DC44). Please check the message and try again." However, when I use BT email directly, sending an email with this link is no problem and it also works when sending the link directly via gmail. So, the problem must be with Mozilla Thunderbird. How do I tell Thunderbird that my link is not spam, phishing nor malware? If it helps, the website link I'm trying to send is https://abbeyquilters.wixsite.com/kelso, and I am using a desktop PC with windows 10. Thank you.

I have 3 ATT.net email accounts. They work on android devices and Firefox. 2 have been in use for years on Thunderbird. The third is fairly new and get error message when trying to add to Thunderbird. (Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password). I know the username and password are correct. The configuration is the default pop3 settings (same as other ATT.net accounts on Thunderbird). What is the hangup?

The one thing I HATE about Thunderbird is how hard it is to simply paste something into an email. Apparently once you paste it (say from excel) you can't undo the paste, you can't delete it, and you cannot type anything below what you pasted (which is how I found you can neither undo or delete what you pasted). Invariably, I have to delete the whole email and start over. Surely that is not how it was intended to function.

I read with great interest Creates multiple copies of drafts at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1280432, and tried both suggestions with absolutely no success.

In addition, my instance of T-bird (ver. 78.0) now has begun *SENDING* the automatic draft saves instead of saving them! One of my recipients received *SEVEN*, slightly different copies of the same e-mail message, complete with typos and attached photos!

Furthermore, I thought it was a bug in the new T-bird version. So, I backed up all my files including my profile, then uninstalled T-bird, rebooted the laptop, then installed an older version of (ver. 68.11.0, as I remember). There was some improvement: The older T-bird didn't send the saved drafts, but it still saved multiple, serial copies.

But wait! There's more! I am running both Win 8.1 and Kubuntu 20.04 LTS on my laptop as dual boots. So, when that last experiment failed so badly, I rebooted to Kubuntu, and ran the Linux version of T-bird (ver. 78.0 as well, I think. But I don't want to reboot right now to double-check.) Same story: Multiple, serial drafts!

But then last night, the Kubuntu version of T-bird began SENDING multiple, serial drafts to the recipient!

And both of the two Windows versions and the Kubuntu version committed the same error whether I used the "Save" button or the keyboard shortcut ( <Ctrl>-S).

So, I am at a complete loss. I have no idea of what to do next. Or where to even continue looking.

Wait! The thought just hit me that I'm using more or less the same profile contents in all three instances. If the problem lies there, what part of my profile would mangle the function of the "Save" command? What do I need to do to fix it? (Without losing all my other profile customizations.)

Thanks in advance.

I used the previous version of firefox to catalog and save over ten thousand emails in five level subfolders. I saved "Local Folders" before installing current version of Firefox. During the install I failed to properly reference the old folders, now I have tried a dozen suggested approaches from the community, but none worked. > "import" > copy from saved to file created with windows in mailbox:///C:/Users/hanse/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/m4vfvavk.default-release/Mail/Local Folders/ > copy as above only to "local folder" created in Firefox. Performed each of the above both with simply closing Firefox, and by restarting after each step.

$100. to the first working approach!

Hi. I'm using Thunderbird for the first time. I configured it with my Yahoo email account. The Thunderbird client shows a subset of the messages that are in the Yahoo inbox: Thunderbird does not show all of the messages that are in my Yahoo inbox.

Why is that? I must be doing something wrong because that's too big of a flaw to not be fixed. Can I run some kind of command to somehow sync my Thunderbird inbox with my Yahoo inbox?

Starting within the last 2 weeks, I am having problems with the system hanging up when I try to download a file. It doesn't happen when I've first rebooted the computer, but after I've been using it for an hour or two. It also doesn't hang the entire computer (at least not at first); but just Firefox, Windows Explorer, and (if the download link was there) Thunderbird.

I'm using:

  Win10 Pro(x64) v1909 (build 18363.1016)
  Firefox v80.0.1 (64-bit)
  Thunderbird v68.12.0 (32-bit)

On a Dell Optiplex 7010 factory-refurb desktop pc with:

3.40 gigahertz Intel Core i5-3570 processor
  16gb ram

The problem starts at the point where I'm supposed to tell the system where to put the file I'm downloading. The system defaults to "This PC", and usually to "Downloads". If it's going to hang, it does so on my next mouse-click, trying to go to the proper directory.

When the glitch happens, closing Firefox (if I can) will not solve it. When I try to open it again, it says Firefox is already running, even though it doesn't appear to be. Sometimes (but not always) I can open the Task Manager. The one time I succeded in doing so, I must have started either that download or a previous download from a Thunderbird email. Several Firefox processes were running. I tried to shut them all down, but one would not respond. Looking thru the other tabs, I found one Firefox.exe instance in the Details tab, and tried (but failed) to shut that down. So I started closing whatever other applications I had open, on the way to rebooting the system. But when I closed Thunderbird, the Firefox process & "Detail" instance both closed, and the glitch disappeared.

However, I don't think it can always be blamed on Thunderbird, because I think the glitch has happened at other times when Thunderbird was not open. All I really know is that both Firefox and Windows have updated on my pc (and on my Win7 laptop) within the last two weeks, and that's when the problem started.

To me it appears that this is an update-induced bug. I hope that this note helps someone to find that bug and kill it.

Thanks.
