Currently using Thunderbird 147.0 (64 bit)
What I want to do is move messages between folders and subfolders without triggering automatic downloads. In this case, I want the folders to be local only and not saved on the server.
When I moved messages as described, they first seem like they are moving okay. My target folder shows the correct number and the source folder appears empty. Then, the messages re-appear in the source folder. The target folder still shows all the messages but if I repair it to ensure it is okay, it gets reduced. Only some of the messages are moved. No warnings are given that repairing it would cause a problem. Since this is a local action would I would expect it to be relatively quick. This also triggers a download from the server to the source folder every time something is moved.
I have tried changing synchronization options to offline but that doesn't have any effect. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, along with the explanation of what may be causing this behavior.
I can't use ThunderBird mail because of the donate banner. I already donated with this email. How can I get rid of the banner.

I already have userChrome setup to modify other elements and I attempted to use the inspector tool to try to find the name of the message background color but I could not identify it. Please provide the name of the element in the form that I can use to add to my existing userChrome.css file to customize this black window pane.

Hi folks. Been using Thunderbird for years now. Never had an issue till now. It recently began to check the spelling on EVERY email. Even if spelling was perfect. It never displays a misspelled word (I'm a good speller). Window comes up and despite hitting ignore it refuses to send. Only after you select Close will it send.
I've uninstalled it and did a fresh install. No luck. I did keep the old profile.
How can I make the distance in Inbox smaller?

Previously, there was a menu item File/Compact Folders (plural).
It is now (at least on my machine) replaced with File/Compact Folder (singular), which only compacts the currently active folder. I cannot now find a way to compact all folders at once.
What am I missing?

Hallo Profis. In Thunderbird sind die Einstellungen nicht zentral erreichbar, sondern zum Teil in verschachtelten Untermenüs zu finden. Das ist extrem unübersichtlich, verwirrend und zeitraubend bei allen Einstellungsversuchen. Mein Vorschlag lautet deshalb:
Bitte kreieren Sie ein Einstellungsmenü, in dem ALLE Einstellungsmöglichkeiten zusammen gelistet und gebündelt sind. Und zwar so: 1. Das Hauptmenü heisst "Einstellungen", der Button ist das bekannte Zahnrad. 2. Die Untermenüs heissen "Email-Einstellungen", "Kalender-Einstellungen" usw. 3. Im Untermenü "Email-Einstellungen" sind jetzt ALLE möglichen Einstellungsoptionen gelistet. Im Untermenü "Kalender-Einstellungen" sind jetzt ALLE möglichen Einstellungsoptionen gelistet.
Das wäre eine sinnvolle Verbesserung des UI für alle User. Vielen Dank im Voraus. Peter

Why is it that everytime I try to open a link, you ignore my defaults and use firefox? I have another browser that I made my default because firefox has become so bloated as to be unusable- Do I have to delete firefox entirely to get you to use my defaults? firefox is NOT what I want to open in-- and yes, I know I can copy the link, which is what I usually do, but sometimes I forget-- then get infuriated at how bad firefox has become.

Just curious, i cany be the only one. i have tried html in the box and attaching the html file.. I then read the image needs to be base64, tried that still nothing. After a few hours I'm sitting here thinking is this 1980? Please help, even if its to say not really possible. Sorry for being a bit snarky, I'm just confused why something so standard for years is so difficult.

I’m experiencing an issue while trying to print emails to PDF in Thunderbird. Instead of opening the print preview or print dialog, Thunderbird sends the email straight to the default printer. Because of this, I don’t get the option to choose my PDF printer or adjust print settings.
This started after updating to a newer Thunderbird version, and earlier versions did not behave this way. The menu still shows Print…, which normally indicates a preview or settings window, so this feels like unexpected behavior.
Has anyone else faced this issue, or is there a setting or workaround to restore the print preview before printing? Any help would be appreciated.

Every time a new email comes into my machine a little square pops up on the lower right hand corner of my screen and makes an annoying noise as it gives me the name of the sender of the email. I do not want these notices and I did not have them on my previous computer. How do I get rid of them?
