W10 - Thunderbird 78.9.0 (64-bit) I'm a tech. Assume the obvious. I used it with 8 email accounts, I've used thunderbird since what 2008?

I've been dealing with this issue for months now. Addresses Don't Autopopulate or Suggest ANY contacts anymore. Yes, I've tried Reinstalling the whole program. Yes, I've tried Safe-Mode. I have ZERO Extensions. But I did just install Cardbook to see if that could fix this problem. No dice. I've read every post I can find on the topic.

I've tried deleting the whole address book contents and adding a contact back manually. No dice.

If I import "all contacts" they import fine: https://i.imgur.com/FsLJZzi.jpg

I've tried importing old address book, which imports fine, but still no auto-populate.

If I delete EVERY single address and address book, and create a new contact, it doesn't show up, nor auto-populate: https://i.imgur.com/PwhJHMy.jpg

If I create a new list and create a new contact with this highlighted, there is no new contact, and still no auto-population: https://i.imgur.com/YemORkg.jpg

Here are my settings: https://i.imgur.com/7PTIIiK.jpg I've played around with everything in here.

Here is some weirdness. If I am in "all contacts" and then go to "collected addresses" the contents appear the same, but when I move my mouse across the contacts, they all disappear like this: https://i.imgur.com/RpfvAuO.jpg

What should I try next?

I recently updated to Thunderbird version 78.8.1 (32-bit) on my Windows 10 machine and it crashes at random. I was previously using version 60.9.1 without issue. The crash reports indicate that xul.dll is the culprit. There are several entries--in red--that indicate xul.dll only, so I'm assuming that this is the issue. Any idea how to address this?

I have multiple (IMAP) email accounts on my TB profile from various hosts including IONOS, Hostgator, A2, and Google. I didn't have any issues when I was using an older version of Thunderbird but now the crashing is persistent. This is happening at both work and home; I'm using the same email profile for both. It's also happening for other users at my company who have recently upgraded. Different A/V for home/work PCs so not sure that this is the issue.

Using the following add-ons: Manage Emails (Nostalgy++), Manually sort folders, Provider for Google Calendar, Quickfolders, and Remove Duplicate Messages. Tried to restart with add-ons disabled and was still crashing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, I have set up a master password on my Thunderbird client and it asks for it very time I open up Thunderbird, like it should. Unfortunately, I tried bypassing the password prompt and it is very easy : Thunderbird loads a window asking for the password, but by simply closing it, Thunderbird still boots up. Once it's open, you can see the accounts. It asks for the password again, but if you close it once more, you can access the inbox of an account. It asks for the password, you just close it and you can access the individual emails. It creates a huge security breach and defeats the whole purpose of having a password on my local client, being that even if somebody gets their hands on my computer and inside my session, they still can't access my email. Worse, it cannot work as a deterrent : if you open Thunderbird, see the password window and decide not to try to open Thunderbird, by closing the window, you will still access the inbox like shown above.

I use Thunderbird 78.9.0, which, I believe, is the most recent version.

Thank you for any help, Paul

My email provider has asked me to change the SMTP settings. I have googled this for Thunderbird, but the processes that I am offered require a different sequence of items to click on from those offered in my Thunderbird 78.9 installation.

My provider asks me to set my port number to 465, and I need SSL/TLS enabled for Outgoing mail. I have been able to fix this for incoming mail.

Thank you,

I have been using Tbird for years and generally love it but there is one functionality that appears to be missing or it would probab;ly be more accurate to say I can't find a way to achieve it.

I am membership secretary for a club which encourages online membership applications and renewals. For each renewal, I receive two emails to the club account. One is a payment notification from Paypal, the other is an application form completed online through a form filling application. The application form is completely encrypted so I can't even see the name of the applicant until it has been run through the form website.

My requirement is to link each pair of emails in some way so that I can easily see whether an applicant has both completed the application form and paid. This could be either a link between the two emails or a means of putting a note with the applicants name on the email (e.g. an editable field in the email listing.

The best I've been able to achieve so far is to forward the encrypted email to myself with the applicants name appended to the subject but that disguises the time/date fields on the listing and in any case is a PITA to achieve.

Does anyone know of an add on that will achieve either of the above or of another way to achieve the requirement that I haven't thought of.

The highlight for "Today" is a light bluish color that does not stand out to me - I'd like to change the highlight to something a bit more obvious - a deeper blue, or even more distinct by highlighting the entire "day" rather than just the header. This is what I found as the chosen solution, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1304213#question-reply I got into Calendar/Tools/Options /General/Indexing /Config. editor.

So I got into "Config. editor" panel with a message to be very careful. Here I got lost. I do not understand the following, could someone be more specific PLEASE HELP.

Try this css code (see picture): .calendar-month-day-box-current-month[selected="true"] {

 background-color: orange !important;}

.calendar-month-day-box-current-month[relation="today"] {

 background-color: red !important;}

Toggle toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true in Config. editor.

I'm on a 2017 Mac Pro desktop running Big Sur with a two-monitor setup. Thunderbird has been my email client since the beginning of this kit and was set up to open on Monitor2. Since the update on March 16, it now will not stay on Monitor2. It always opens on Monitor1 and has to be dragged across manually. I have now eliminated the possibilities that it was an Apple glitch. Today moved on to thinking it with with Thunderbird and decided to uninstall and reinstall. When I did so, deleting old edition, emptying trash, clearing cache, etc. , rebooting and I then downloaded the new Thunderbird. I installed it and, lo and behold, it opened on Monitor2 and stayed there. I had not loaded my old profile at this point. The installation seemed to hang as I input my email account details and kept wanting me to repeat this process, so I rebooted the machine. When it came back up, Thunderbird had found my old profile and loaded it, which would have been fine except . . . now it was back to refusing to stay on Monitor2. Any idea what is going on?

From what I can see and how I think Thunderbird is just an absolutely marvelous program. It's much more efficient for printing emails and organizing data. So there seems to be some sort of missing link or something that I'm missing because I've used Thunderbird before and I've never had this problem. I'm using Windows 10 Pro with the Firefox browser. I also have Gmail or Google installed also. The Gmail account seems to work more reliably than YAHOO I've not been able to get it to work properly, I get IMAP timeout for my yahoo mail account.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software to no avail. I do not wish or desire to be an expert in Thunderbird. I just want IT to work.

Basically, what the title says. I noticed that I hadn't seen an email come in since yesterday. When I click to download messages, Thunderbird says "Downloading message 1/10", downloads nothing, then says "No messages to download". I can log in no problem on the web and see my emails. My other email addresses, which are with a different provider, download fine into Thunderbird. I can also send emails in Thunderbird from that email address with no issue.

Has anyone ever encountered this? Do you know of a solution?

Thank you!

When I send email with an inserted image in Thunderbird ver. 78.7.1 (64-bit) the image is stripped from the message during send; if the image is sent only as an attachment, then it will arrive with the image displayed. This makes it difficult to compose a message with text and graphics interspersed. Is there a fix for this? OS is Ubuntu 20.10 (64-bit). Images I'm working with are relatively small jpgs (<200 kb). Thanks very much, Gene

As the subject says, simply updating from TB 87 to TB 88b1 (or 2) my ability to send messages was crippled.

Reverting to "false" for mailnews.smtp.jsmodule reverts mail functionality to working status. I can leave mailnews.send.jsmodule as "true"

The headend of my firewall/router is a pfsense box running suricata for security.

Prior to reverting the smtp FLAG, even after whitelisting the new triggered suricata events (since TB88b1, they did not occur in TB 87 or prior), mail was still not sending and at that point simply spins until it times out. Here are the new triggered caught security exceptions, with my ISP, shaw.ca

  1. SURICATA SMTP duplicate fields

suppress gen_id 1, sig_id 2220018, track by_dst, ip 64.59.136.142
