Thunderbird Support Forum

Updating to version 38.1.0 Start Thunderbird, Starts up OK. Can view messages and write new emails etc OK. If I select "get messages" OR messages are accessed automatically every 5min. then the whole PC crashes. Three finger salute does not bring up task manager. Only way out is to power cycle.

I am using Thunderbird Supernova and am pretty happy with it. However, I cannot figure out how to specify a different time zone than the system timezone when creating an event. For example, if I just bought a flight that departs at 4PM London time and I am in Miami when creating the event, how can I create this event without having to convert that time to my current time?

Surely this is possible but I can't figure out how. Thanks for any help!

I have Thunderbird 115.8.0 installed on my MacBook Pro with two email accounts, Yahoo and Gmail. I have set up the Tools/Message Filters/Block Filters as well. When I first launch Thunderbird all the spam shows up in my inbox, and just sits there. What I have to do is go to Tools/Message Filters at which point I'm asked to select an account. I select Yahoo (my primary account) and then "Run Filters" before anything actually happens. Then if I go back to my inbox, the spam emails start disappearing. It seems that Thunderbird does not remember the "Yahoo" selection in filters in between launches. Is there a setting I am missing, or is this just the product of having two different email accounts? I posted a couple days ago, but what I posted was confusing and convoluted, so I am trying to be more concise this time. I need to have the Thunderbird (TB) eMail on both my work and home computer. It is already on my work computer and I have copied the TB eMail to a USB according to what I found on here, and have checked and all the files appear on the USB. I have tried to get the TB eMail on my home computer now, with that USB, but can not, no matter what I try. I have downloaded the TB eMail from the Mozilla site to my home computer several times; deleted it to try again; and have cleared everything out every time I do. However EVERY time now, I am getting an error message that the Profile Setting Can Not Be Found.....specifically it says " Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." in a pop up window. I don't know how to get rid of this so that it does not pop up every time - because again, it pops every time even after I delete the TB completely. If someone could guide me on how to get the TB on my home computer without that popping up, and how to proceed from there, because I do have all those files on the USB, it would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you in advance for any help!!!!!

Running Thunderbird 102.1.2. Today, I had 2 email just disappear. One was in a local folder from about a year ago. I tried to include it as an attachment in another email and it just wasn't there any more. The other was a reply to an email and it also disappeared. I've looked in all my folders, trash, outgoing and incoming and they just aren't there any more.

Any ideas???

It's a pity that we reached version 102.1.2 and till now a common problem has not been solved. In email composing window when misstype a word there is the red indicator for mistakes and then by right clicking we get the correct proposed words. In event creation we get only the red indicator for mistakes. Nothing more. It's a pity a so much advertised version to lack such a basic feauture.

Hi, I've had this problem two other times with various upgrades, where my setting no longer works. I need horizontal lines between message headers in all folders. My eyes need the lines to be able to scan across and not get lost. I am using TB v115.3.3 on Windows 11 Home.

All - there are enough questions on backups/restores that I don't want to load everyone down with an involved question, I'll try to keep it simple:

1- Using Mozbackup utility - appears to generally work fine and handy but continues to a) restore old accounts long gone (i.e. not present in Accounts list when backup file created with Mozbackup and b) does not restore complete set of new accounts (via Imapmail\*.com account files I take it). I am guessing that if any *.com account file is still sitting in \ImapMail folder and included in the .pcv file Mozbackup will try to restore this and set it up in Accounts list, so I'm going to try deleting all obsolete account *.com files before I do backup this time. Question remains about the non-restore of newer *.com account files though, which WERE present in \Imapmail folder at make backup.

Also, restore does not carry account server info into new accounts list, just the placeholder account name (in the list in Accounts pane on left). I have to repeatedly re-enter server info, re-establish connection, etc. Deficiency in Mozback or is this a safety thing?

2- see attached pic. Either Mozbackup, or something, is creating number-incremented copies of the account *.com files, with the newest (present time) copy having the highest added -# onto file name. Why is this and is it old to delete earlier/old dated files?

I am getting the feeling that it's safer/wiser to just manually backup-recopy all \Imapmail\*.com files (and *.msf files) into \Imapmail folder as per this post:

102.2.2 has really messed things up for me. i can't see any emails after August 9th in any of my Saved Searches, and this is causing real problems.

i've tried deleting the global database and reindexing, but that did nothing.

I was exploring this new 115 of Thunderbird and ended up wiping the message viewer off the screen.

To start with, I have my TBird 115 as it came "out of the box." Three columns, Inbox folder tree on the left, Cards List in the center, and message pane in the right side.

I messed everything up when I widened the Cards list to the right edge of the window, where the <---> arrowhead disappeared and all there is to the right side is the window resize arrow from my Linux system and that awful slim Jim scroll bar.

I recovered my message pane using F8 key; it is below my short list of email in the Cards View. See the attached screenshot.

I would like to return things back to as they were with the three columns as described above. I forgot, too, where I turned on Classic View. There is a checked box in Settings somewhere. Or is it a menu? I need some help, please.

May I suggest a limit somewhere short of the right-side edge of the window and short of the scroll bar to only widen the message pane "so far," such that one can recover from pushing it that far, using the same means to return it with the double arrow.

OS: Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon Thunderbird 115 MintBox Mini 2 Pro computer

When I attempt to to into either the settings page or the contacts page, they will only appear in about 1/3 of the full screen making it impossible to see the remainder of the information on that screen. It is impossible to edit a contacts information on the screen. I have the screen set to maximized, and no Add-ons installed.

Since I too am having many problems with passwords I wonder if I were to reinstall TB if that would solve the problem. Is there any way to save my contacts before I do a reinstall so that my contacts/addresses are easily replaced after the reinstall? Or am I not going to fix the password problem by doing a reinstall?

I'm having an issue with Thunderbird where I've removed an old account, but Thunderbird keeps trying to log into the account and pops up a warning every 10 minutes or so. I have no add-ons, no extensions, and I have two other accounts that work perfectly fine. I went through the process to remove my third account, which succeeded, yet Thunderbird is still trying to sign into it for some reason.

My hunch is that there is another section of the software (calendar, reminders, something) that is retained the account info and is trying to pull it from the server, but I have no idea how to find these other settings if they exist.

Hello. How can I choice (or modify) de background color for a selected text, or for new text writing? In the formatting menu bar in the "write" window, the icon for selecting the text color works well, but the icon for selecting background color acts on the whole page, not on the selected text. There is no mystery to what's happening here. Programming 101: a security exception doesn't get reset every 2 or 3 passes unless some malicious or incompetent programmer set up a countdown loop to reset it. And who would do that kind of thing to users unless some malicious jerk wants to pressure the users into fighting his or her political programming battles with other net entities? I turn 77 this month, and last year had a tumor removed from inside my spinal cord that, while slow-growing and essentially benign, caused horrific pain. People my age and condition save our energy for things that really matter to us. That doesn't include Lilliputian battles over which end of the egg to open. So suck up your egos and resolve this among each other.

Nearly every day I have to quit Thunderbird and reopen it as, it will not connect to my server. This means that all the viewing criteria and spending/descending has to be reset and is a real drag. As soon as I reopen Thunderbird it works normally again.

I have used the same connection details for years and it is just the last two Thunderbird versions that have replicated this issue. It's not always every morning when I wake my iMac up, but normally happens then or, later during the day.

I asked this question for 102.3.1 but received no answers so, I am hoping that there will be an answer to this.
