After I responded positively to a notice offering to update my Thunderbird account... I keep getting a window asking whether I want to allow "Thunderbird Software Updater" to make changes to my device.

I always get very cautious and suspicious when asked about giving permission to make changes to my device... I've been burned in the past by such requests.

How can I be sure this is really a legitimate request from Thunderbird/Mozilla?

I have been using Firefox and Thunderbird email for quite some time. I never have a problem with Firefox but do have an issue with Thunderbird email. In the past I used both Apple and Microsoft platforms at work and used the email programs associated with these applications.

When using Microsoft and Apple email platforms I always had lines for: 1) The people who are the primary recipients of the email, 2) CC: intended for people who will receive the email but who don't mind other people seeing their names and, 3) BCC - this line is for people who the sender wants to include in the email but who DO NOT want their names to be seen by other people.

Thunderbird only has one line, no CC or BCC. I have wanted to include family members on some of my emails who are very interested in the subject of my emails but don't want their names and email addresses visible to others. In order for my family to receive my emails I've had to send my original email, then go back to my Sent folder and send it to them.

It strongly recommend Thunderbird issue a new version of your emails that includes CC and BCC options. It would make life MUCH easier.

I can no longer send mail from my Thunderbird POP.Gmail account. When I try to do so I instantaneously get an Alert with the following message: “An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: +OK Gpop ready for requests from [my IP address] ]k16mb102005795ool”. (The numbers following my IP address always vary). I can receive email at this address, but I can send nothing. I have several more email addresses on Thunderbird (all through Gmail) and they work fine but they are all IMAP. My POP incoming port is 995 and the SMPT output port is 465. My ISP is Spectrum. Can someone please help?

I have afeeling this is something I would have to arrange with my internet service provide, but as that is a giant telecom, I don't hold out much hope.

If any advice, be grateful (as possible guvnmint message which might be urgent, dammit)

How can I re-set a new password for Thunderbird email? I am trying to set up a new tablet and receive my mail in Thunderbird on it. It keeps asking me for my password. I tried the one I had in my records from years ago, but it will not accept it. I am an ordinary user, not an expert at this. Thank you for any help.

Thunderbird adds the same sender (and wrong) to all my incoming messages, even those that I send to myself from one of my mailboxes to the other. This sender does not appears on the header when I check directly on the mail server of my provider from where TB downloads the messages, so it's obviously TB that adds this sender. Do anyone have an explanation for this behaviour and how to fix it? Thank you

All the subfolders I had in my Local Folders disappeared when i had a problem with Thunderbird. I got everything else back except the Local Folders. Is there a way to retrieve and reinstate them? ( I use Ubuntu.)

When I clicked the "Repair folder" button on the Inbox folder, all emails from 2018 were gone. There were many emails, and they are valuable.

Also, the Inbox file in the profile folder has decreased in size many times. Is it possible to recover these emails?

There is no backup of the main file. Inbox.msf file only. I am also attaching a screenshot of the Inbox file code. Almost all of the code looks like the first screenshot. In the second screenshot, the code at the beginning of the file is where such characters begin.

I am running an environment using IPSWITCH MAIL SERVER (for 15 years btw). I am running multiple workstations (some on physical some virtual) all on Windows 10. I set up Thunderbird (latest version 64 bit) and create my users per workstation. On each workstation the E-mail sets up and works using 993/465 - SSL/TLS - ENCRYPTED PASSWORD. After set up Thunderbird performs perfectly. On EVERY workstation within one or two days the accounts have to be deleted and re-created USING ALL OF THE EXACT SAME PARAMETERS and Thunderbird works again (for one to two days) and then I need to repeat the SAME exercise. About two dozen repeats now. No changes in the network environment. No changes on the mail server. Thunderbird has given me yeoman's service in two firms for twenty five years now and this has just started this year since February. Any ideas anyone?

Unfortunately I receive in Thunderbird 78.11.0 64bit the umlauts / special characters only as ? question marks. Unsuccessfully tested in Thunderbird settings, text encoding, incoming messages: unicode(utf-8), western(iso-8859-1), western (windows-1252). Much rather I would set the code correctly when sending - but how do I have to set the codepage (maybe in ps) ? Grateful for help, a Seeker... Uli

People's emails to us bounce saying our data is full. The data says we have used 75% i.e. 11.3GB out of 15.0GB. I've added up Inbox, sent, trash, spam and archives and they only add up to 7.39GB. Our provider (Southern Phone) has fobbed us off onto you. Any Thoughts ?

bold textany solution to why sending email times out when using smtp account when VPN is on. Works OK when VPN is off or if I'm sending using a gmail or outlook account. Thunderbird is my email choice and been using it for years. Trouble started when I got McAfee account and am now trying Firefox VPN but results are the same.

8 pictures attached to e-mail from gmail IMAP account when saved are each only 27 bytes and incomplete. Originally the attachments were not visible on the e-mail view, only in the list, but after the removal of the conversation view addon they became visible. They are complete in the gmail web interface. Thunderbird 78.11.0 on Linux

I have an email account with an organization I volunteer with. They use Microsoft Teams and Office 365. I installed Thunderbird this morning. I added my Gmail account and the email account for my organization. In the Accounts pane on the left side under my Gmail account I can see all of the folders I have for Gmail - sent, trash, etc. On my organization account I can only see my Inbox. I can't see Sent mail. I created the account using an IMAP Connection. How can I see the sent mail folder to see prior sent emails?

Message:mailaddress doesn't exist BUT IT SURE DOES as i'm receiving mail from it the US. WHATEVER I SEARCH FOR THERE IS NO ANSWER. HOW Furthermore, whatever I want help with I'm NEVER getting any help. HOW COME?

Good morning folks, I currently use Tbird as email filter and anti virus utility. I believe it receives the mail from my isp and then forwards it to me. My current host, Wildblue, has notified me that they are discontinuing the email service on all their email clients. I'd like to know if I could use your service as an email platform?

Since yesterday we are unable to send emails from our Thunderbird account. We use a local server as a mail provider (methownet.com) and I went through trying to fix the problem with them and nothing is wrong on their end (we can still receive messages too). We have Norton 360 security service and I cannot figure out how to disable this. We are using Windows 8.1 on a desktop and have Thunderbird version 78.11.0. Attached is a screenshot of our SMTP settings.

I have an e-mail account with compuserve now run by AOL. It is pop and uses normal password authentication. As of this morning I can no longer retrieve messages from the server. The system tries and then seems to time out. I can see the messages by using my web-mail with Firefox. What sort of thing has gone wrong? Settings are pop.aol.com port 995 SSL/TLS normal password. The last time it asked me for a password but using my normal one did not improve things. I got a message "Sending of password for user philip_ebert@compuserve.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.aol.com responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later."

Dear volunteers the persisting issue I have with Mozilla Thunderbird is that 1) some of my collaborators says that the text of the e-mails they receive from me have very small size, although I've made all possible settings (size of body text is Medium Arial) to make sure it's standard size. Not everybody says that the text is small, most colleagues and my own tests with my friends and family does not show any anomaly in the text size 2) secondly, I once experimented with an "exotic" Abel font, which I later deleted from the computer, but Thunderbird still displays it in the drop-down list with a mark "Abel(not installed)". I wonder how to make Thunderbird forget about Abel, delete it from it's memory and library (it is already deleted from my PC library)

I would be so grateful to have help with those issues!
