Hi, As I have two devices (PC and laptop, with the PC being my ‘main’ device) I have been having problems with ensuring that emails are not deleted from the server until a safe time after being downloaded (to avoid one device not being able to see messages because the other has deleted. In ‘Server settings’, the PC has an entry ‘Leave messages on server …’, but my new laptop with recently installed Thunderbird does not.

On looking into this, I find that the PC’s Server Name is set up as pop.mail.yahoo.com, whereas the laptop Server Name is set up as imap.mail.yahoo.com. I’m not sure how this has come about as I used Thunderbird’s set-up and find an email address for both devices (albeit a few years back for the PC). How can I set up the laptop to ensure it doesn’t delete emails from the server before the PC has had a chance to download them? I guess I’m asking how do I change from IMAP to pop. It’s important that I don’t lose emails because I’ve looked at them at different times on different devices.

Hi there, for some reason I do not see the attach file function anywhere. It is not on my toolbar and when I go to View - Toolbars - Customize - the screen is just white with nothing on it.

Am I blind?

How do I change Thunderbird's display (Menus, folders, toolbars etc.). The fonts are way too small for reading. I am talking about the menus, toolbars and folders.

My calendar used to display colour coding of the event categories associated to each event so that it was immediately apparent when viewing a week or 4 week display what category of event was going on when. Now it just displays a small rectangular patch on the right hand side of the displayed event tab. How do I get back to where I was?

A client emailed me their newsletter via Constant Contact and would like me to share it on social media for them. To get the link for our social media posts, I need to view the email in a browser. In other email programs like Gmail, you can usually find a clickable "view this email in a browser" option with those newsletters, but I can't find that option in Thunderbird.

Is there a way for me to view emails in a browser through my Thunderbird inbox? I know that I can save the email as HTML code and view it in a browser, but that approach doesn't allow Constant Contact to track newsletter views or allow new subscribers to sign up through the link.

I use to be able to see photos that were sent to me in the body of the email without having to download them when the email was opened. Now, I only see a black outline for each image but not the photo, etc. What has happened and how do I get to fix this so I can actually see the photos before I download them to view them? Thank you.

I have pop-up notification enabled: a small window will show the subject, sender, text of a new message. This window used to be in the lower right corner of the monitor above the windows tray, no matter where my mouse or cursor was while working (good). Recently, this pop-up window appears where my mouse (?) is - so positioned completely "random" on the monitor. (TB 78.11.0 32 BIT) In the options I can choose if to display a window at all (yes), what it should include and how long to display. But there is no way of changing the location back to "do not follow mouse". --> How can I put it back in a fixed position?

When I click on a link in an email I get an error message. Even when I try to click on the HELP menu in the Thunderbird app as well.

When I view the email on my phone the links work. But the same email with links embedded in the text do not work when clicked on.

I do not understand the error message and do not know how to fix. Any advice would be great.

When emails arrive during the day only the time of day is shown in the Date Column in the Junk and Trash folders. Trying to sort by date is impossible, which makes it difficult to locate anything unless you want to scroll and scroll and scroll. Either omit the time completely or add the date to the time.

Hi. I´m looking for a way to tag o mark "some" messages before being sent. So they can be identified by a filter to be copied to a selected folder after already sent.

Example: I want to send an invoice to a client, and after sent, I want only that email to automatically move to a selected folder. I can´t just use a title filter, cause most of the times I replying to an email I´ve received.

In Account properties tab, I tried '#linux ##acim #regex' and also '#linux,##acim,#regex'. Both didn't work :(

I try to ask my question as accurately as possible, I hope my problem becomes clear.

I use a variety of large email mailboxes in TB. Some of them as IMAP.

Since my server space is limited, I want to get the old emails from the server and archive them on disk (and only there). Unfortunately, I haven't found the right settings yet, because either TB suggests an online archive (i.e. on the server) or, when I go into the account settings, I can only select "Local Folders" at best, but no archive path belonging to the particular account. (My understanding is that Local Folders is a collection folder).

What I want to achieve looks something like this.

Account 1 (IMAP, Server based)

- Inbox
- Outbox
- Sent

Archive 1 (Local on my hard disk)

- Inbox
- Outbox
- Sent

Account 2 (IMAP, server-based)

- Inbox
- Outbox
- Sent

Archive 2 (Local on my hard disk)

- Inbox
- Outbox
- Sent

etc...

Could you please show me step by step the way how to set TB to get the desired result.

I found an archived solution to this from two years ago, but it isn't relevant to and didn't work in Thunderbird 78.10.1, which I have. I need to reorder accounts, putting them together at the top of the various folders, and then do some changing of folder positions from strictly alphabetical to a more useful means of organization.

Hello, I user thunderbird for several email accounts and while it mostly works i do run into some oddities.

In the Tools-Message Filters menu i have many things sorted there.

I have noticed 2 issues: 1) Filters that have been in place for months will randomly stop working, i can rerun the filter manually and nuttin, and a week alter it starts sorting again. I verify the email address and check and it's correct and matches the rule.

2) Yesterday i made a new rule to a new subfolder. It was regarding some class work I had done, and I wanted all things from the email address there to be moved to that folder. I copied the email address into the filter and it does nothing.

For most of my rules I have checked "Manually Run", "Getting new email: Filter before junk classification", and "Periodically, every 10 minutes" but only some dont work.

Im not even sure how i start troubleshooting this, any advice?

Thunderbird automatically recognizes text after a single line consisting of two dashes as a signature. When replying via plain text to an email that contains such a signature, Thunderbird strips it off the quotation, including the dashes. I consider this an anti-feature for several reasons:

1. The stripped citation looks bad because it ends with an empty line prefixed by a > sign. 2. I'd like the citation to preserve the original mail as close as possible unless I choose to cite only parts of the text. 3. This kind of signature detection is fundamentally flawed - an earlier quoted mail might follow after the signature which is then also stripped. 4. It is inconsistent because it does not happen when replying via HTML mail.

How do I disable this behaviour? Ideally I'd also like to disable the different coloring of signatures in plain text mails.
