what link do I need? I have a problem sending emails from Thunderbird & was wondering what link I need to direct my question to the right people who can assist

I do have an error message I can send you, but would like to know where exactly to send my question before I attach the error message. But I guess I will attach it to this message just in case you can help

The Bruce Porter above is correct but as you can see the highlighted Email is wrong - it's actually for Stuart Zall!

I restarted Tbird in troubleshooting mode and that didn't help. Very frustrating to not be able to correctly sort by recipient (in my Sent folder) nor trust it really is the person I'm looking for!

My desk top has been turned off for 3 months as I was out of town. I am back and fired it up. When I attempt to send emails I get this error message

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client. c-73-25-244-35.hsd1.or.comcast.net ([10.0.0.116]) [73.25.244.35]:57209 is not permitted to relay through this server without authentication.. Please check the message recipient "jmatthews@bhy.net" and try again.

Hello, My PGP key for one of my accounts stopped working while I was trying to draft a message. At first, the message said that my PGP key couldn't be located and thus my draft could not be saved (I believe I have all my drafts mandated to save as encrypted). I decided to delete the key from Thunderbird and try re-importing it. At first, it said the key had been imported successfully. However, when trying to select the key from my account page, nothing comes up. It's just blank. I quit Thunderbird several times and re-opened, only to get the same result. Now, after my most recent app restart, Thunderbird simply won't import my PGP key at all. Other accounts still have their PGP keys active, but not this one. I'm at a loss. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is this a new bug? I'm running the latest version of Thunderbird (91.8.0 (64-bit)) on macos. I've attached images. Please help! Thanks!!

Is there an add-on that would allow me to generate a tf-idf list of statistically significant words in a Thunderbird folder? Ideally, I'd like control parameters like:

  1. search parameters (e.g. by date range, include/exclude addresses...)
  2. number of words/tokens returned (this is less important: I can manually cut)

If not, has anyone seen something like gensim applied to Thunderbird folders?

Hi! My beloved Mozilla program gave me an error message when trying to open it this morning :(

Error: Platform version 91.7.0 is not compatible with minVersion > = 91.8.0 maxVersion < = 91.8.0

Program won't open at all. Any way to resolve this problem? Or at least recover files? I've used Mozilla for years to organize important emails...clearly that was a bad idea now. Please help? Thanks! Lisa

My display name is stuck on "me", I really want to change it This glitch showed up recently, I believe when I "up-graded" to version 78.9.1 before that, it was my name. account settings  : "your name" shows my name, but all my e-mails show "me" instead of what is clearly written in the "your name" field really irritateing ! any suggestions ??

Hi It seem I cannot send Emails' it comes up with this message Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: [TPG-A02] Authentication denied. User jdeboer8@tpg.com.au is banned from using SMTP AUTH due to previous abuse. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again. I have checked that my Email address is correct

I have 2 installs of Thunderbird on 2 different desktops accessing the same IMAP account.

On one machine I have:

  Automatically delete junk mail older than 3 days

On the other it is:

  Automatically delete junk mail is unselected.

Which has priority?

I am seeing junk mail from over 30 days in there so I'm guessing that if one installation does not automatically delete junk mail, then none of them do. Does the longest duration take precedence?

I POP from a google account. Lately Google has been refusing access saying

On 5/20/20Toad-Hall helpfully advised:

  • If you use POP or Imap and use 'Authentication Method' = Normal Password, then in gmail webmail, you have to set up to use 'less secure mail' option even though it isn't less secure. It's just gmail scare tactics. You will still find gmail will block the account from accessing server on random occasions forcing you to access webmail and reset that option and usually they want you reset passwords and sometimes use 'Captcha' to get access. They claim they are only safe guarding your account.
  • I strongly recommend that you access the Account Settings and select 'Authentication Method' = 'OAuth2' and also do the same for outgoing smtp settings. Then restart Thunderbird and the first time Thunderbird needs access to emails you will be prompted by gmail to enter email address and normal password to confirm you really are you. Then gmail applies an OAuth2 token which is stored in same place as passwords. From then onwards access to server will use that token. You should get a lot less hassle from gmail. But please remember, that you still use normal password when needing to access webmail.

But the incoming authentication was already OAuth2, and I can't see how to change the authentication on the outgoing server. -Please assist.

I keep getting a prompt from Windows Defender regarding a security threat from my email : C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\3a9dgcsq.default-release\ImapMail\MYDOMAIN\INBOX->(part0131:Shipping_Documents.docx)

I chose Windows Defender to remove this threat, but nothing happens. I have tried to search for the file name, and also tried to look into my inbox, even deleting mail in the inbox with attachments. I then cleared the log of Windows Defender, but this threat still shows up.

I am unable to locate this file. Please advise as I am desperate.

New issue after Thunderbird update 91.8.1., running MAC OS-X 10.13.6 High Sierra. My IMAP inbox stopped getting messages and just hangs. When I click Get Messages I get the spinning blue wheel. Down at the bottom of the window it says that it's connected to the imap server but nothing happens except the spinning wheel. The POP accounts are working fine. I checked with the domain host and nothing has changed on their end. I've had to resort to webmail for this account which is problematic. Any suggestions and solutions are appreciated. Please help! I decided I needed to use a password to enter my emails. By following my nose, I went to settings and checked the box to use a primary password. It then asked for a password. I typed it in... twice. Once, then confirm. Now, I can't enter my email no matter how many times I type in the password. I've tried resetting the password by going to chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xhtml. It says password was reset but nothing has changed, it did not ask me for a new password, and I still can't get in. Frustration has set in. Thank you for any help you can give tome.

I have tried just about everything I can think of as well as read through various similar posts in the community, but there doesn't appear to be an actual solve in the settings to enlarge the font size of the message list view as well as the folders on the left-hand side.

Please see snapshot for reference. If I'm unable to adjust this, then I'll just move to a different email client because this font is just too small and I don't want to revert to having to adjust the resolution settings only to read email each time.

I accepted the upgrade of Thunderbird 78 and after that I cannot send emails. I can receive, but not send. I have checked with my provider, RCN and all is well on their end. I have checked with my security NORTON, and all is well on their side, even disabled the firewalls to prove it. So, there is something stopping email on Thunderbird side. I am not a techy person, so I need some serious guidance to know what to look at or to look for. and I am very very frustrated at this time. Thank you.

I am unable to upload the pdf of the snip for you review: It Reads: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.rcn.com failed. The Server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.
