1. Some of my emails display BLANK content when opened; since Thunderbird updated with 91.8.0 to my Windows 11 64bit. The header displays correctly but the view screen is blank. I've tried troubleshooting in safemode and disabled any add ons, reset all the display controls and restarted with no success to resolve the problem. I've tried different view modes, Original, Simple HTML and Plain text and still get nothing showing. I've tried to copy the blank screen to clipboard to try different color modes with no luck. Not a problem of White on White text. The message is in there when I check the Message Source, but it does not display in the view. However the original mail does display correctly on my browser when viewed on my ATT email account which forwards to Thunderbird on my computer.

ODD Solution: i just noticed that when I move the email with the BLANK content to TRASH, then that content does display correctly! Then I can move that email back to my INBOX and it displays there correctly. Isn't that crazy? Ha,ha, the quirks of computers are like quarks in quantum mechanics with random results.

2. Some of my email content is displayed under the WRONG HEADER. The email content displayed under the wrong header is usually the content from the prior message. For example I get an email from CVS ok. Then my next Email is from Citibank, but that email displays the content from the prior CVS email. No solution to that as of yet. Are these BUGS in the new release 91.8.0?

TB has been working for years with 2 gmail IMAP accounts and Google calendar. TB has just updated to 91.8 and the gmails and calendar stopped working. I deleted the stored passwords, started TB in troubleshooter mode and re-entered the google passwords.

Google calendar is now working but the 2 gmail accounts still don't work.

I deleted one of the accounts from TB and re created from scratch. Account creation fails with

Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration username or password.

The other gmail account which I haven't deleted comes up with an authorisation error after entering the google password and allowing access.

I have checked that TB cookies are allowed and javascript is enabled.

I have run out of things to try.

What I don't understand is the calendar is working but gmail isn't even though they use the same Google account and password (and Oauth2).

Cant login to Gmail with OAuth2, unsupported browser error

I am using the latest Thunderbird 91.8.0.8126 and latest Firefox 99.0.1.8136. I am having the same issue as reported in these posts: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/q… (read more)

I am using the latest Thunderbird 91.8.0.8126 and latest Firefox 99.0.1.8136. I am having the same issue as reported in these posts:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1343530 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1344530 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1350244.

I have 5 Gmail accounts that I manage for different family members. All accounts in Thunderbird access Gmail via IMAP, and are configured to login with OAuth2.

This week, Google removed Thunderbird access from 2 of the accounts, I do not know why. When I login to the accounts via the web in Firefox, Thunderbird was no longer listed under their 3rd party access. The other 3 accounts are fine.

1 of the accounts does not have 2FA enabled. I was able to re-login with Thunderbird when prompted, and I was presented with a window to grant Thunderbird access, which worked, no problem. So Thunderbird's browser was clearly recognized.

But the other account does have 2FA enabled, and that is where the problem lies. Thunderbird prompts for login, and the username and password are accepted, but when I enter the 2FA verification code, Thunderbird presents a window saying "Your browser is not supported anymore. Please update to a more recent one." (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1677845). There is no option presented to grant access to Thunderbird. Yet, the verification did work, because my primary email receives notification that the account was logged in from a new device.

For the record, the failing 2FA account is managed by Family Link (the other non-2FA account is not). According to https://support.google.com/mail/thread/127545584/, such accounts cannot login to email clients. But that has never been a problem before, and 1 of the other still-working accounts in Thunderbird is also managed by Family Link and works just fine, so that can't be the culprit.

Also, I do have AVG installed with Email Shield enabled, but disabling that makes no difference.

Thunderbird's UserAgent is "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/91.8.0". And yes, cookies are enabled in both Thunderbird and Firefox.

Is there a way to get Thunderbird to use Firefox properly for Gmail login, instead of its own integrated browser?

Hello, I have a GMail account, from which I download my email in Thunderbird (in Linux), and keep it ordered locally.

I noticed that my backups are very slow, because Thunderbird keeps two big directories that get updated often:

11G /username/.thunderbird/k0aa999s.default/ImapMail 7.0G /username/.thunderbird/k0aa999s.default/Mail

under /username/.thunderbird/k0aa999s.default/Mail I see I have my local folder structure and that's good, but what is under ImapMail ? I guess it is the corresponding email structure I have on the gmail server, (although gmail reports that I'm using 5.67GB, not 11GB). The 11GB are created by just 4 files: 1.6G Apr 22 09:55 Sent Mail 3.0G Apr 22 14:16 Trash 2.6G Apr 22 14:16 Important 4.3G Apr 22 14:20 All Mail

I saw it suggested to rebuild the folders in Thunderbird - I did it but nothing changed

What can I do? I dont need / want to replicate Gmail structure locally, I just want (and use) only what I have under /username/.thunderbird/k0aa999s.default/Mail

I have setup my business office mail address with the owl extension. When I try to send an e-mail a error message pops up that Thunderbird couldn't put a copy into the sent folder. So I wanted to place the copy only in the local sent folder, but the settings is grayed out and I can't change anything.

When I look at my personal microsoft mail with @outlook.de I can change everything and the setting is picked correctly out of the box

When switching on Thunderbird 91.8.1 (64bit) today, it immediately downloaded mail from my IMAP account followed by the message "Server not found - start.thunderbird.net could not be found. Please check the name and try again. Check typing errors / network connection / firewall / proxy etc." Selecting 'Try again' simply opened the 'Welcome' overlay leaving the client operating as before.

This is a first as far as I can remember. But in the midst of the other more problematical events that have been occurring, (see my previous question, recently updated discussing possible Settings errors retained in the Profile): 'Exporting folders with ImportExportTools NG' https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1373167

Can anyone suggest if there is any link between these events - and confirm a solution that would clean or replace the profile but leave (or restore) the messages and folders unchanged ?

Hello! Using Thunderbird for some years now and very happy normally. Although after trying to send 1 email with a special character "å" in the address, that did NOT succeed, now everytime Thunderbid launches, it pops a dialogbox:

Dialogbox [Unsent Messages] [X Close] Do you want to send your unsent messages now? [Checkbox, Checked] Always ask me when I go online [Send Now] [Later]

Everytime I launch Thunderbird, it now welcomes me with the dialog box!

I have ZERO messages in [Outbox] folder and [Queue] folders. (Is the latter an official Thunderbid folder?) Both are empty. I have repaired ALL folders. I'm always online.

The email was never sent away, probably due to impossible character in email address, and I never saw the unsent email so I have not been able to delete it. Clicking the [Later] button dismisses the windows but then brings the problem back in the future.

Where is the list of log or index of unsent and still to be sent emails? Apparently Thunderbird knows something, despite [Outbox] folder being completely empty!?

I've manually gone offline and back online and sayed online like normally.

PS. read this topic which did not solve my problem! https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1072963

Any and all help is welcome. Thanks

I am running TB 91.7 in Win 10, with Bitdefender AV and firewall. When attempting to send an email, I received a popup indicating an issue with the SMTP outgoing server. (original message attached) (also original in and outgoing server settings attached). Upon checking the ISP's recommended settings, I discovered some updates (settings attached) and made those to TB (settings attached); I had to do some interpretation here, hopefully correctly. Attempted resend of message, still error messages (two popups attached). The webmail version works fine. Thanks.

This issue shows up randomly, affecting a random number of messages. Issue is that one message will take over other messages following. Message notification will look normal in the inbox, but click on the message following X message, and the X message is what will appear. The subject line at the very top of the page will be from Y, but the rest of the information following will be from X. Two, three or more messages may be affected. Deleting X will make no difference. This time, four messages were affected.

I am experiencing a problem with the SMTP server rejecting sessions from Thunderbird v91.7.0 running on Fedora 36. Specifically, if I try to forward 2 e-mail messages only 1 message will make it to the SMTP server and actually get forwarded. The error message I receive is

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: p-impout008.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net cmsmtp too many sessions from 104.33.187.187 AUP#Out-1360.

I researched the problem a bit and there seems to be a Thunderbird solution for IMAP users. However, I am using POP and I haven't found a way to configure a limit on simultaneous SMTP sessions.

This problem occurs because I am using Message Filters to automatically forward messages to another user. I think what happens is that Thunderbird is able to filter multiple messages for forwarding and tries to create multiple simultaneous SMTP sessions.

I have Thunderbird set up with several different email accounts. In December 2021, one of the email accounts suddenly stopped working. It won't receive or send emails. I didn't change anything.

I'm not knowledgeable about figuring this stuff out, so I'd be very grateful for some help. The email that's not working is a gmail account. At first I was getting an error message about the password not working. I'm positive I'm using the correct password, because I tried it on https://mail.google.com/ and it worked fine.

I have Windows 10. I updated Thunderbird to 91.8.0 (32-bit) and it didn't make any difference -- I still can't receive or send email from the problem account. I didn't change any server settings (they are the same as my other gmail accounts, except for the specific account names).

When I try to get messages, it says says Connected to pop.gmail.com...

then

connection to pop.gmail.com server timed out

I have no idea what this means or what to do. If you need more information about my settings, just let me know what you need and I'll get it.

Thanks for any help you can offer. At this point I'm desperate.

I 've used Thunderbird for several years without any issues - thank you for that - but suddenly, over the last two or three weeks when sending a message, I have been getting an authentication error message from my ISP and the e-mail is rejected. This occurs every time I try to send an e-mail after rebooting my PC.

A password change made no difference.

Incoming messages are not affected.

Clearly my ISP is blocking the messages because it is not receiving the correct password or account name - but why?

The workaround I have discovered is to enter troubleshoot mode, then send the e-mail (successfully). Then I can exit troubleshoot mode and any later e-mails are also sent successfully - until I reboot the PC and then I have to repeat the procedure again.

I am using v91.7.0 (32 bit) on a 64 bit PC and running two e-mail addresses, both of which exhibit the same behaviour.

I do not have any add-ons and I use default preferences.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years and have continued using it successfully since my office changed its e-mail service from serverdata.net to Office 365 several months ago. (Server outlook.office365.com, connection security SSL/TTS, authentication method Normal password.) All was working well as of late on Sat Apr 23. When I next called up T-bird (on my Win 10 laptop) late on Sun Apr 24, I could no longer login to my account. Verified correct e-mail address and password, but multiple attempts to login were all rejected. I could still get in to my account via Outlook at portal.office.com as well as Outlook on my Android, but I can't get in via T-bird....but I hate Outlook and really would prefer to get T-bird working again. On returning to the office the morning of Mon Apr 25, I tried as well with the T-bird installation on my Win 10 desktop (which, again, had long been working fine) and immediately encountered the same problem. So it seems that either there was a silent update to T-bird on Sun Apr 24 which broke T-bird's ability to connect to IMAP on office365.com, or Microsoft did something to the IMAP service on office365.com on Sun Apr 24 which broke T-bird's ability to connect to that service. Yes, I know I could get the Exquilla extension for T-bird and try connecting via the Exchange protocols, but before I do that, it sure would be nice to know whether it's T-bird or office365.com that broke. Anybody else having the same experience? Any solutions figured out yet (other than Exquilla)? Thanks for any insights!
