Can no longer receive from two of my email accounts. Have "fixed" the problem of being able to send by setting up a new password on the server and then inputting it into TB the first time i try to send but the 2 login accounts are no longer listed in the Saved Logins window. The other logins are still there and work as expected.

What should i do? i've spent several hours on the Mozilla TB forums, trying to find something similar, but haven't been able to find anything.

Please stay safe and have a beautiful Saturday afternoon!  :)

copy-to-clipboard option disappeared from right-click menu upon upgrading to version 91.2.0 in Linux Ubuntu.

I get more junk/suspicious emails than I'd prefer here, so I always found this copy-to-clipboard option extremely useful if I wasn't sure if I should look at an email.

It seems this option is no longer available upon version 91.2.0, however I guess one workaround would be to "view as text", rather than html.

I liked that copy-to-clipboard option because it did not entail opening a possibly infectious email that may very well be best never opened.

That being said, I'd like to humbly suggest that the copy-to-clipboard option be put back.

Is there something that I am missing?

Hi, I just moved my thunderbird (latest version for Windows XP 32-bit) from my old Windows XP PC to new Windows 10 PRO PC (Thunderbird 91.2.0 64-bit).

I moved my profile folder to new PC. All my messages were moved with no problem but had to enter all passwords as if they didn't come with my moved profile.

I'm now having problem logging in to POP3 mail servers. Every time I logged in, if I checked the box "Use Password Manager to remember this password" It showed as

> Gmail: Nothing happened. No email downloaded from server. > Outlook: the bottom status bar showed "Connect to pop-mail.outloook.com..." and stayed like that forever. No email downloaded from server.

However, if I unchecked the "Use Password Manager to remember this password" box, Thunderbird can download all my emails. But I have to enter all passwords every time if I restart Thunderbird.

What I have done but problems still persist.

> Uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall > Delete key4.db, key3.db, logins.json, cert9.db from my profile folder and restart Thunderbird > Turn off 2-step verification in gmail account and use real password instead of app password

How can I correct this? Please help. Thank you.

This may be an inexperienced "user error" but I believe that a recent update has removed "options" from the Tools menu thereby removing menu access to Password Manager.

I finally accessed the Password manager from Tools/preferences/privacy/passwords/saved passwords

While Thunderbird help continues to reference "Password Manager", I believe it was renamed "Saved Logins"

Hi. Has anyone noticed that the password you can set within the program doesn't actually do anything to stop someone from reading the e-mails? I noticed this by just clicking "x" to exit the notification of having to enter the password. After pressing "x" 3 times, it didn't ask me again and I can freely look around all the e-mails I have stored.

Is that supposed to happen? I'd rather if the password stopped anyone from being unable to read the e-mails stored. Isn't that the idea of having a password on the program?

Kind regards,

Geo

I've been using an older version of Thunderbird for years without issue to sign into my POP3 optimum online mail server. I recently "updated" so I could get the "Remove Duplicate Emails" plugin working.

I now have the issue I've seen mentioned here numerous times: I can no longer save my password. I have to manually input it every time I open Thunderbird. If I enter my password and sign in, my mail works fine.

If I check the box to remember my password, it no longer connects to the server. Instead it attempts to connect for a few minutes, then gives me a "mail server timed out" error.

My saved passwords list is completely blank. There is only one profile folder in the Thunderbird profiles directory.

I have tried deleting/renaming the following files in the profile folder: - key3.db (does not reappear after new version, probably legacy) - key4.db - cert9.db - signons.sqlite (has also not reappeared after removing)

I have seen it also advised to delete/rename the following files, but they do not exist in my local profile folder: - pkcs11.txt - logins.json

I am not using CC cleaner or any other programs to scrub passwords.

I have the latest version of Thunderbird (91.2.1). When I open an email, I get the "Remote Content was Hidden" banner, which is fine (that is what I want). It gives me the option to "Show Remote Content". I click on that. When I click on it, the content briefly (for about half a second) shows the remote content then the email goes completely blank and the address bar shows: chrome://conversations/content/stub.html?urls=imap-message%3A%2F%2F<redacted content>%40<redacted content>%2FINBOX%234501 By the way, when I open ANY email I get that URL in the address bar. Is that correct?

Randomly, the "show remote content" option still displays - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. When I click on that, it finally shows my email with the remote content. The address bar still displays the above URL. I redacted the part of the URL that shows my email address. If I close and reopen the email, the remote content displays.

When the "show remote content" bar doesn't continue to display I have no choice but to close the email and open it again. Randomly, when I reopen the email, it is still blank AND there is no "Show Remote Content" bar. Through trial and error, I learned there is a little icon on the right that has a tool tip that says "Show content in a new tab". When I click that, it randomly shows my email and the remote content. Sometimes, though, the email content is still blank. Instead, it displays the message: "We're sorry, but we can't display this conversation, because the messages have been moved or deleted." I close the email and reopen it. It is still blank, but when I click the "Show message in new tab" icon, it show the email the the remote content.

Is that how it supposed to work or is this a random bug? I have a feeling this is not how it supposed to work. Just FYI, I disabled all of my addons so they don't interfere with anything. disabling the addons doesn't help.

Thanks

I turned on 2-step verification for my Google account yesterday (I have Gmail, using Thunderbird), then when I went to check my incoming mail on T'bird this morning, got an error message that an application-specific password was needed. I went through the steps to get one, pasted it into T'bird's Passwords list in "Preferences," and all was fine. Except that now, even though there's a folder with all my account info, that account isn't listed at all under "Passwords." Hence, I can't log in. Can someone help me figure this out?

It would be great if Mozilla Support would stop archiving the old threads on the OAuth2 issues.

Every 2 years or so something happens and I have to reconfigure Thunderbird to accept my gmail account. Every single time, there are problems with OAuth2.

The credentials pop-up window will not allow me to enter a password. It just keeps refreshing to the login prompt - 'Email address or Phone'. I type in the e-mail address; it refreshes to 'Email address or Phone'.

I have checked TB updates - all updated. I deleted the account, deleted all saved e-mail logins and passwords in Thunderbird, and in my browser, and tried to add the account again to Thunderbird. The credentials window won't let me get to the password fill in. And even if get there, am I still going to have problems with OAuth2?

Some time ago (.1 year) I deleted a number of email accounts from Thunderbird ending @southcreake.org, eg treasurer@, lectures@. As best as I can tell, these accounts are no longer set up on Thunderbird but AVG is regularly alerting me to security threats triggered by attachments to incoming mail on these old accounts.

I attach a typical screen grab.

It would seem that somewhere ghost versions of these accounts still exist on my PC but I am at a loss to know what to do in order to finally delete them.

Any suggestions?

I am running Windows 10 64 bit. I am trying to upgrade and migrate from an older version of Thunderbird to 91.3.0 64 bit. I have gotten all my emails across via the profiles directory. I have gotten my address book across successfully too. I have gotten the required IMAP and SMTP settings in, stored and working.

-I cannot get thunderbird to remember my email password. Every time I load thunderbird, it asks me again, and every time it checks for email, or every time I click (get email).

The next problem is that the (options) menu is nowhere to be found. I can't get into security to try and edit or add a password object.

This seems to be a fairly common problem, but I can't find any solutions that actually work.

How do I get the latest version of Windows Thunderbird to store and remember my email server password, so that I don't have to keep typing it in, and don't ever have to, again?

TB latest version (91.3.0) recently installed in a new Windows 10 computer. The profile has been patched from another computer and works fine, but TB's asking me for the server passwords when I download email.

TB doesn't have add-ons because (I believe) I uninstalled them in error (playing with the troubleshooting mode). Anyway I don't care much about them at the moment, and I haven't installed any of my own. The TB (working well) where the profile has come from has Lightning installed by default.

If I open TB the normal way, it asks for the server passwords that it should remember. The passwords list (Preferences -> Privacy and Security -> Saved passwords) appears empty.

But if I open TB with the parameter "-safe-mode", it downloads the mail w/o asking any password, and the passwords list is okay. It doesn't matter if you have ticked "Disable all add-ons" or not at the beginning. The annoyance of this mode is that the TB window is quite smaller than I want, and the message contents sub-window is much lower than I want, if favour of the upper messages list one (the "normal mode" remembers these sizes okay but asks for passwords).

Any fix or workaround?
