I am a business owner and I want to create a form letter that I can send to everyone on a mailing list where the body of the letter is the same for every recipient, but the salutation is personalized for each recipient.

Basically, I want to create a message like you would create a form letter in Word using Mail Merge, where each recipient has their first name in the salutation, but the body of the message is the same for every recipient, so the version for Sally would say

Dear Sally, Blah blah blah. Sincerely, Me

and the version for Bob would say Dear Bob, Blah blah blah. Sincerely, Me

and the version for John would say Dear John, Blah blah blah. Sincerely, Me etc.

I have downloaded the add-on "Quicktext" and followed their instructions, and it gets me part way there, but if I put my contacts into the "To" field, the message comes out with everyone's name in the salutation, like

Dear Sally, Bob, John, Blah blah blah. Sincerely, Me

And sends the same copy to everyone.

Can anyone help me?

In earlier versions of Thunderbird, you could get to the Message Filters "directly" through the menu as they were on the top level. They are now under the Tools option which is more difficult to get to - see the screenshot.

Is there a way to put the "Run Filters on Folder" and "Run Filters on Selected Messages" functions on the toolbar?

If they can' be added to the tool bar, one good spot for them would be on the Quick Filter Toolbar: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/quick-filter-toolbar so I'd like to suggest that as an improvement to Thunderbird.

Thanks

In a recent version change of Thunderbird, the Check spelling popup window that occurs when send is selected, used to remember the users location on the desktop. Now it defaults to upper left corner of the screen. In my case I compose new email on the right side of my desktop. I can move it. But the next email it returns to the upper left corner again. This used to work correctly.

I have been using Tbird for years and generally love it but there is one functionality that appears to be missing or it would probab;ly be more accurate to say I can't find a way to achieve it.

I am membership secretary for a club which encourages online membership applications and renewals. For each renewal, I receive two emails to the club account. One is a payment notification from Paypal, the other is an application form completed online through a form filling application. The application form is completely encrypted so I can't even see the name of the applicant until it has been run through the form website.

My requirement is to link each pair of emails in some way so that I can easily see whether an applicant has both completed the application form and paid. This could be either a link between the two emails or a means of putting a note with the applicants name on the email (e.g. an editable field in the email listing.

The best I've been able to achieve so far is to forward the encrypted email to myself with the applicants name appended to the subject but that disguises the time/date fields on the listing and in any case is a PITA to achieve.

Does anyone know of an add on that will achieve either of the above or of another way to achieve the requirement that I haven't thought of.

Hi,

Having several e-mail addresses and identities, the "Write" drop-down list proposes a sequence that seems neither related to the order of creation of the addresses, nor to the sequence of the addresses as defined in the configuration editor. Is there any way to change the sequence as proposed initially? If so, where? Thank you for your insights,

Chris

Hello,

I'm having a little bit of trouble configuring the default IMAP folders, some of them are translated into my language (Dutch) and some of them are not 'Spam', 'Sent Items'. When i test this email address on my smartphone with the 'Samsung mail' client all of the default folders are translated in my own language.

I don't know how i can fix this in Thunderbird because it seems like i can't edit the name of the folders anywhere. And i've also tried to create other maps at my email provider and it says the folder names (written in my language) is already taken. Maybe the Dutch language pack in Thunderbird needs a fix or maybe the devs can implement some sort of local 'Display Name' on the default folders so anyone with an issue like this can give it a different name locally on the PC.

Can anyone help me with this?

calendar profiles in thunderbird?

Hello guys,

maybe its just obvious and I am unable to point it down to the right keywords for my google research but I could not find this feature:

I want to create several "calendar views", each containing a set of relevant calendars for the specific view.

Example: I have 4 calendars:

1.Work 2.Wife's Work 3.Private 4.Soccer

Now, what I want to do is to create profiles, to show a only one or a combination of these calendars. e.g:

Profile: "work only" Showing Calendars: 1. Work 2.Wife's Work

Hidden Calendars: 3. Private 4. Soccer

Profile: "spare time" Showing Calendars: 3. Private 4. Soccer

Hidden Calendars: 1. Work 2.Wife's Work

As you can imagine it gets even more useful the more calendars you have... Is there any feature for this? How can I achieve this?

Thank you very much

Hi, I've just downloaded Thunderbird on MacOS Catalina. I have added two separate email accounts. I want to be able to see all email in one inbox (not a unified inbox which still sorts into two separate sub-inboxes). I have checked under Account Settings>Server Settings. There is no advanced option under Message Storage which is where I have read the enable global inbox option should be listed.

Can anyone assist? Thank you, Kirsty
