Title. Thunderbird is a really cool client but it's pretty slow. I blame that on the thousands upon thousands of emails that my hotmail and gmail each hold. I don't necessarily want to delete these emails, but I have seldom a reason to have any email older than 2 months in my thunderbird client slowing and crashing the program whenever I want to combine inboxes.

To this end I went to "Synchronization & Storage" and told it to "Synchronize the most recent 2 months" but it didn't delete the huge cluster of older emails. The next option is to tell TB to delete these emails in the same menu but as I understand it that would also delete them in the server, which I don't want to do for posteriority.

What do I do?

This is the message I get when trying to send emails: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: pgbentley101@gmail.com recipient rejected. Please check the message recipient "pgbentley101@gmail.com" and try again."

When trying to sign messages with thunderbir on debian mails won't deliver.

If they are not signed, it will send smoothly even if they are encrypted.

I just uploaded Thunderbird 115.7.0 hoping Unified Folders was once again actually being unified. Nope, no such luck.

I started using Thunderbird years ago for the exact Unified Folders feature, because I have to keep track of five email accounts, and Thunderfbird was/is the only email provider that allowed me to see all five at the same time.

Awhile ago after a Thunderbird upgrade Unified Folders stopped working. I said to myself, just give them time, they'll get it back on track, especially since so many users complained.

So far, crickets on the Unifided Folder issue.

Everyday I'm annoyed of having to scroll up and down to see in-boxes, and other folders. Only Sent and Trash are unified.

What the heck is going on over there, can't somebody address this pertinent problem? It's the strongest feature/reason so many people love Thunderbird, yet you treat users like we don't exhist.

We have two gmail accounts on Thunderbird. When sending an email on our main account, the recipient of the email shows it being sent by the other gmail account. What do we need to do to keep them separate?

In server settings I cannot change the name from imap.virginmedia.com to imap.gmail.com

When I try to change it, Thunderbird keeps reverting to Virgin Media.

I am trying to change my server name from imap.virginmedia.com to imap.gmail.com, but Thunderbird keeps reverting to virgin media.

In server settings the server name is still imap.virginmedia.com and I cannot change it. The port is 993.

Strangely, I received the email that you sent me with the pin code.

Can anyboby help with this ? I'm no computer wizz but I can't be the only one with this problem. My email is Microsoft 365 provided by BT which now uses " modern authentication " How do I get Thunderbird to work with this please ?

The Windows 10/11 App Store version of Thunderbrid is very slow with new versions. My Thunderbird is on version 115.4.1 and that is the latest version from the App Store.

I hope it will be updated more quickly in the future.

I have a mail filter rule setup to move incoming message attachments to a local folder. It seems to only work when I am receiving a unread email message. If there is an incoming message that for instance i read it on webmail than I notice the message filter does not run! Is there a workaround for this? I want any incoming mail old and new to be filtered according my message filter rules. I am using imap protocol.

Why is it that every time Thunderbird updater installs on my laptop, my taskbar link to it becomes unfindable and I have to 1 click on it so that Windows says it can't find it and would you like to remove it so I can then say yes, 2 wait until the taskbar link disappears, 3 go to my desktop icon for Thunderbird and right click to have it pin to the taskbar (AGAIN!) What does updater do to the taskbar pinned icon that it won't work until I remove, replace it, and go back to work??

Updater should NOTHING to do with any of my taskbar icons, let alone the one for Thunderbird. Tell me something I don't know.

For a long time I have stored my POP messages in a a Mail folder on drive E:

I am in the process of changing computers and I have the E:\Mail folder on the new PC containing the old messages. I have saved the profile, installed Thunderbird 115, and reinstated the profile, but Thunderbird does not point to the E:\Mail directory.

How can I persuade it to see my massages?

It seem like since a recent version update of Thunderbird, I have to confirm every email deletion. Before it would simply delete and move into the Trash. If I really wanted it back, I could get it back from the Trash. Why does it now ask me EVERY TIME I delete an email. I used to be able to just press the delete key for a message to go on to the next message. If I accidentally deleted something I'd go find it in the Trash.

Why does "Move to Trash" have to be confirmed now?????

It slow my mail reading down incredibly.

Who added that as default option and why???

The account I’m trying to add is an alternate domain of a Google workspace account. I’ve successfully added a few alternate domains of the same account, I’m certain my user and password information is correct, but it won’t let me add it. What could be the problem?

Don't know why or how, but my display of messages has changed. I want my messages on one line with heading on top identifying each column of data beneath (e.g., date received, existence of an attachment, etc.). How can I get back to that arrangement?
