Hi all

I have an IMAP account which has altnamespace enabled (i.e. my folders are on the same hierarchy level as my inbox, not subfolders of it), and a server-side filter that sorts incoming mail into either one of the folders or the inbox.

When I enable message filters in TB, they seem to run only on the inbox itself, not the other folders. I can select a filter and then click "Run now" with the appropriate folder selected, and the filter works. But that of course beats the purpose of the filter (which is to delete messages based on sender address).

Is there a way to have message filters automatically run on the other folders?

Thx!

1. Often TB won't show new message, it'll list a number of new message, maybe I can actually scroll down & view a few of them, but quite often, I'll try to scroll down and can't see that new message that TB indicates exists. Or I have to click on an old message, then try again, click on another message I've already viewed then scroll down to where the new message is. This morning, tried both several times, still couldn't see the new message that TB insists is there. 2. At one time, when you opened TB, you were automatically taken to the end of all the messages in your inbox or if you fllter emails to folders, to the end of messages in that particular folder. No more, you have to scroll down to the end. Why? It's a waste of time for me to do that and as far as I know, TB places no limit on the number of emails in an inbox so . . . why was that changed? Because it was user friendly? In my search I noticed that there was one TB user who was so upset he/she/they wanted to return to v. 102. I wonder how many people, seeing the response, also have returned to a previous version. I know I'm really tired of getting additional bells & whistles i don't use, changes to what you see that don't help me at all, plus making using TB more of a hassle--see above. Please fix the above problems. If it's not fixed in the next upgrade--which I'm hesitant to install given the result of the last few upgrades that introduced the above hassles--then I'll probably go back to an older version too.

Hers is an Outlook email address set up on T’bird and works well in & out if I email her via any of my other email addresses. Thankyou.

I'm trying out Thunderbird on macOS, and one annoying problem that I can't find a solution to is that the line spacing in the window for composing emails is too small. (See the attached image.)

I currently have the font set to Helvetica, which is my preferred font. Other fonts work a little bit better, but they all have this problem to some degree. I can't find any settings in Thunderbird to adjust anything about the font used when composing emails, other than the font family and size.

Is there any way to fix this?

Got a prompt to update my password for a gmail account. Upon entering the credentials, I click allow on the gmail window for giving access, and then it redirects to another window of "yourdomain.com" from which there's nowhere to proceed to skip.

I removed the account and re-entered it but the same window/bug appears.

Can't find something online with the same issue.

I want to ensure I have my local folders on my seperate Data HDD; D:Drive. My weekly backup, using Macrium software, setup runs a backup of the D: drive to my onsite backup HDD; G: drive.

I have looked and found that C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\23h3lpqw.default-release\Mail\Local Folders\file "Local Folders - Copy.sbd" was copied on 26th February 2024. But not since

How do I tell where local folders are stored on my Windows 11 PC.

Can I setup Thunderbird so that Local Folders are located on my D: Drive so that they automatically take part in my weekly onsite backup?

Any advice please?

I have Thunderbird 115.8.1 (32-bit) on Window7 64-bit Professional build 7601 Service pack 1.

I am used to Thunderbird pulling emails off the Gmail server as they turn up, but recently I only get new emails by restarting the PC.

I know there are new emails because I can see them if I log into the Gmail web page.

How can I fix Thunderbird please? I've used Thunderbird since it was Netscape Communicator on Windows 98!

Thanks in advance

I have an iMac (Core 2 Duo) running Thunderbird 115.8.1 on Mac OS X 10.13 High Sierra. Thunderbird works fine when I'm actively using it. The problem arises when I close the window and switch to a different app. If I let Thunderbird run in the background for a while, the processor gauge (iStat Menus) will indicate that Thunderbird is using more than 100%, typically about 120-130% cpu usage. As soon as I switch back to Thunderbird (click on it in the Dock), the processor usage drops way down to normal (about 2%) and will stay that way as long as Thunderbird stays in the foreground as the active app. If I close the window and switch to the Finder or Firefox, Thunderbird will eventually start overusing the CPU again. It doesn't happen immediately... probably about 20-30 minutes of being idle in the background.

I've got Thunderbird set up to check one Gmail account. Nothing else. I used to have a different email account, but removed it.

Checking the logs in Console hasn't been helpful thus far. High Sierra seems to flood the logs with unrelated information.

I've noticed this issue for several revisions. I kept hoping that the next update would fix things. No such luck as of 115.8.1. Anyone have ideas how to fix this?

Edit 2024-03-14: I changed the subject to indicate that the problem occurs when the window is closed. It has nothing to do with being in the background vs. foreground.

The setup screen popped up when I tried to start Thunderbird. I had to reset Windows 10 and doing so my Thunderbird disappeared. I am using High Contrast mode and sometimes white text gets hidden in a background color. I was kind of expecting a text message. As I progressed through the set up screen I get error messages when I try to click on Done. Above the Done box is some blue text that I can't read clearly. The blue text generates a message about IMAP already being there when I click on Done. There appears to be no correct way to click on Done. When I click on Cancel my email pops up with Local Folders highlighted. When I click on Inbox it looks like every thing is back to normal. I do want to ask someone to add a vertical scrollbar to the setup screen. Otherwise I have to go through the Windows Setting screens to resize everything to get it to fit on my desktop. This also requires changing my font size for some reason. At this point I am becoming really frustrated with Windows 10 - which Mozilla has nothing to do with.

This has happened since Supernova. The previous versions also had count problems, but different patterns.

I ask for new mail, and see folder pane counts unrelated to the actual local folder. Almost always fewer, often only one of a dozen new messages shown. The bright unread folder pane icon and highlighted message title seemingly never apply to more than one message. It is rarely the newest message, sometimes randomly in the middle, often the oldest message.

The one account which is set to only manual checking never shows a count or unread highlight for manual checking. Only if it happens to find something on a restart of TBird.

This seems unrelated to the "total message count" option. Enabling that shows all the messages still on the servers, not the counts stored locally.

Would be nice to know if there are unread messages in a local folder without having to click on each one...
