Despite working fine previously, the email sever has suddenly refused to log me in - giving this message.... "Log in to server imap.virginmedia.com with user name mike.brown297@ntlworld.com failed." I have not changed anything that I am aware of so what's wrong? It asks for a new password, but I haven't changed it? Please help!! Mike

Hi Thunderbird-Team, I am using Thunderbird 128.5.0esr (64-Bit) on Linux (openSUSE Leap 15.5). When I want to attach a file to a written e-mail the file-selection dialog does no longer offer a line-edit-control where I can copy-paste an absolute path to the attachment file. I always have to click through the full directory path in order to specify the file that should be attached. Is there any chance to input a file path via keyboard or just by mouse-paste? I have encountered the following issue about a year now .I have been using Thundebird some years now and I have created my contact list . Even though I have added in the address book all the contacts I needed and named them as I wanted. When I receive a mail the correspodent appears differently from what I have named the contact.Propably as the person sent me the email have named himself.The same applies in sent mails as well.No matter what I did ,it seems like the database from the address book is not linked to the mail database whatever I do. Please advise

When I select an email without opening it, and press the Del key on my keyboard, the email used to be deleted - but recently this stopped working. I now have to open an email before I can delete it. Any idea what could have caused this to change and how to fix it?

I feel rather obtuse asking, but how do I get my Thunderbird addressbook to sync to gmail contacts? I uninstalled Cardbook, because Thunderbird now does CardDav, I treid to create a new CardDav addressbook by opening my addressbook, selecting new addressbook, and going through the steps to give Thunderbird access to my Google account. But,
no new address appeared in the list of addressbooks, and the option to create a new addressbook is no longer avaiable/showing.
Addressbook is still not syncing. My server settings are IMAP. I still have three address books: All, Personal, and Collected.

the geek squad copied all programs onto a new microsoft surface for my wife but did not ensure all software works as they don't want to access your passwords. when i go to set up thunderbird, i input the imap pw to the email server and first problem is that it doesn't remember the pw even though I ticked the box. second issue is that it is taking over an hour to open the folder inbox, then it downloaded 4 emails and went back to 'opening folder inbox'. clearly i am doing something wrong and would appreciate any help available from those wiser than i.

ERROR MESSAGE: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox.

I am supposed to be on the esr release program, but today I was automatically updated to beta release 133.0. This is the second time this happened. Thunderbird shows a red screen, and recommends I install the last stable release, 128.5.0esr, which is what I want to do. But the last time, when I tried to go back to a stable release, it then wouldn't let me do that because it says the profile may no longer be compatible. I solved it painfully using timemachine backups of older profiles.
What is the simplest, safest way to downgrade, now that I am in this situation? And why is this happening?

Hallo und guten Tag,
ich habe für Windows [PC] und Android [Pixel 8pro] jeweils die beiden aktuellsten Versionen von 'Thunderbird x64'und 'Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox' installiert und eingerichtet. Es sind zwei E-Mail-Konten mit jeweils einer Alias-Adresse eingerichtet, alles unter GMX.NET , IMAP+SMTP sind ebenfalls aktiviert [IMAP port993 und SMTP port465]. Leider bekomme ich es nicht so eingerichtet, daß Mails wenn sie am PC oder am Pixel empfangen und verschoben oder gelöscht oder als Spam markiert sind, daß dieses dann auch am jeweils anderen Endgerät so erscheint. Es werden immer wieder alle Mails neu als eingegangene Nachrichten gezeigt und ich muß dann am jeweils anderen Endgerät die gleichen Aktionen vornehmen.
Wo liegt der Fehler, was muß ich tun um das Problem zu beheben.

I am receiving the following error message when downloading messages from AOL to Thunderbird. "The DELE command did not succeed. Error marking a message as deleted. Mail server pop.aol.com responded: Too many requests." Please could anyone help me download my messages? I have been away for a month, I have a lot of messages to download. Hi Support, A customer uses Thunderbird as their main mail platform but suddenly cannot send or receive messages. error message as follows: Sending message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to the SMTP server timed out. Try again. we get this message directly when we click send (1ms)
Now we checked our Mail Server, connection is up also TLS to port 587 works fine but the client can not establish a connection... it worked a few days ago tho. We also tried to reinstall Thunderbird, new profiles and also tried debugging but we could not find the mistake.

Error message when trying to send a message: Sending of the message has failed. Peer's Certificate issuer is not recognised. The configuration related to smtp.message.com must be corrected. When you click on OK, it brings up another lengthy description of licenses etc.. but no result. I'm trying to send a picture but I'm not sure how. In-any case, i'm sending this for my Wife's account: erika-b@netspace.net.au
We had a long-standing conversation with The Messenger Company, but the were unable to solve the problem.
