Hi there,

I started out by syncing my email address into Thunderbird, and it worked well, until I decided to create a new alias for my original mailbox.org address. From that point onwards, I was then required every half hour or so to re-login to my original email address. This is very frustrating to have to do so. And this is despite the fact that on Thunderbird, it does correctly show my alias address (because i updated the 'account settings' relating to the original email address, so that it would reflect the new alias address - I.e. I changed the "account name" and "email address" to [insert alias email here]. )

What do i need to do to rectify this problem? I have gone over many FAQ's and can't seem to find the answer to this. Happy to provide more clarification if needed.

Whenever I first respond to an email in Thunderbird I am unable to review what I responded with inline with the ongoing conversation.

I see the purple arrow indicating that I did respond, but there is nowhere in the Sent Mail tab or opening the original email in a Conversation tab that allows me to read through the entire correspondence with both sides of the conversation in context. When replies do accumulate enough for the drop-down appear, it is only the other person's emails that are displayed.

This is incredibly inconvenient and, were it not for that purple arrow at the very least, unassuring in the cases where I want to double check if my email successfully went through to begin with.

Would love to know if I'm simply missing a setting I can toggle on to view both sides of these email threads in one place!

I just added a contact by right clicking on the email address in a message. When I start a new message and start typing the person's name, it comes up. When I go to the address book, a search also turns it up. But going to any address book or to the default "all address books," then scrolling down, doesn't show it. How can that be?

I should say that the interface for the address book or books has changed since I last used it, and it's a bit puzzling too. One can use the scroll bar to move down the lists, but it defaults to a search interface, and simply clicking on a list item and hitting a key no longer takes one to names beginning with that letter. How strange. Pointers?

Hi, I hope someone can help me.

I'm using Thunderbird Version 102.4.1 on a 7 year old laptop and it's getting to the end of life with numerous driver and non responding problems. Also, it is not compatible with Windows 11. I have linked 3 Yahoo mail and 4 Gmail accounts to Thunderbird on it and they work really well. All are IMAP server settings. I have just bought a new laptop, an early Black Friday deal, and hope to set it up the same as my existing one, so when the old one dies, as it's likely to, I will still have access to the same programmes and emails.

I know I can access Gmail emails direct on any device and they are always up to date - is that called synced? What I don't know is if all email accounts will be synced or the latest - if I use Thunderbird on both laptops. If I delete an email on one device will it be deleted on the other device.

If this is possible, do I download Thunderbird on the new laptop, then set up the accounts for each email and just enjoy from there, OR do I have to copy the profile from the old device to the new one.

I love browsing, streaming etc. but hate trying to get my PC set up or sorting out problems with it. Presume I know very little if you are replying. I have never had two working laptops before so never had to worry about syncing.

Comcast is apparently changing their email security. They sent the following out:

"Reminder: Your email application or device may be out of date

We noticed you're accessing your Comcast.net email through an older email application or device, such as an older smartphone. Unfortunately, some older devices, operating systems, and email applications don't support current security protocols and therefore put your data at risk.

We rely on specific security protocols to help protect data in transit, including anything you send through your Comcast.net email. To help safeguard your data, we are discontinuing the use of older security protocols that have been deemed less safe.

We recommend updating your out-of-date email application or speaking with a trusted resource about your device and the software you use to access your Comcast.net email.

If your device or email application is not up-to-date before we discontinue these older security protocols, you will not be able to use it to access your email as you do today. However, you will still be able to access your Comcast.net email by logging into connect.xfinity.com through an internet browser. "

This appears to be based on them dropping support for TLS, v1.1 and lower.

Currently I cannot send email, and can only receive. The error message that I get is shown in the attached picture file. This issue happens on my desktop system, and was confirmed by the same thing happening on my laptop.

does the new version require any windows component that the old one did not? (i may have disabled some features i dont need). all other programs work perfectly.

Thunderbird crashed and when I finally got it started again all my emails had disappeared. I found what I believe to be the original profile and I tried all of the suggested methods for getting Thunderbird to retrieve the emails, contacts etc from this profile. The profile seems to have all my email addresses associated with it and there are some large inbox files in recognisable folders but when I point Thunderbird at this profile or try an import from this profile nothing happens. At one stage I tried setting up one of my email accounts to see if that would drag in the old emails but it didn't. I am at a major impass trying to figure out how to recover all of this data. Help!

When I receive attachments like image.bmp , image.gif, image.jpeg and image.png in Thunderbird, I can simply double click on the attached filenames to open them in Photos. But double clicking on attached image.jpg doesn't work, and I must first save it to some folder and there double click to open it in Photos.

So how do I add "JPG Image" to [Tools/Settings/General/Files & Attachments/Content Type] where the other image types are listed?

Have one PC that thunderbird is crashing on. Program appears on the screen for a second or two then crashes, then I get the crash report popup. I tried starting thunderbird in safe mode and had the same results. Hey there, I updated thunderbird some while ago to 102.5.0 (32-Bit). After some time, I noticed that I don't get my any contacts from my address book shown in the recipient field of my new mail window.

Does anyone have an idea what happened? I changed nothing in my settings, and it worked before the update.

I migrated from one Mac to another by copying the contents of the Profiles folder. That worked well enough, but I find that when I restart Thunderbird after restarting the Macintosh, it has forgotten some of the settings, in particular, the Favourites. It has also forgotten the icons.

On examining the profile folder, I see that the *.sqlite-wal files have been deleted, which I suppose is right.

I have found that if I re-copy places.sqlite-wal from the other Mac and restart Thunderbird, the favourites are restored and so are the icons.

Can anybody suggest what is happening here, and how I might fix the problem properly?

I have Thunderbird set up with four email accounts. Recently, one of them has started saving Sent emails in the Local Sent folder. (Until I found this I thought that they were not being saved at all). Checking the Account Settings shows that the 'Place a copy in' option is correctly set to save in the Sent folder of that account. (see attachment) Can anyone suggest why this has happened and how I can fix the problem? All the other three accounts save in the correct Sent folder.

Loading the TASK pane takes up to 20 seconds - the previous release was instant. There is a noticeable delay when changing directories. I have repaired all directories and tried to use the previous version of TBird but the profile is not accepted. Have also run without add-ons etc and this makes no difference. Once the task pane has loaded it behaves normally and subsequent loading is instant as it was with the previous version. This is not a real issue but I am wondering if there is an underlying problem somewhere.

Not a newbie by far but I've never seen this happen before.

Cloned the HDD to an SSD for a client as per usual. The client calls me later stating Thunderbird opened and asks to set up an account. I log in remotely and verify all the paths in profile.ini etc. Everything is as if was before the clone of course. I can see all the folder and file structures as they should be.

Ok, I decided to mount the image of the disk and inspect the files. Looks perfect. Thought I would copy the profile and reload it into the disk as a test. That's when I got 3 errors that these files were corrupt. As follows.

I've talked to multiple colleagues and we are all like whats going on here? I've been at this most of the day trying to replace those files with other 'Good' files from a new install etc...I'm stumped! Does anyone have any ideas? Edit: I was using Teracopy in a Windows PE environment and that code is specific to teracopy. Thank you!

I have installed tbird on a new win10 pc as imap and copied my appdata/roaming/thunderbird from the old pc. However all the subfolders of Local Folders that were created on the other machine are not displayed. The only fodlers showing under Local folders are Inbox, Trash and Outbox. All the transferred sbd files are present so the copy process was ok and the profile is identical. How do I fix this?

I do not use threaded view, but this option was still available before in 102.5

Edit: I have tried rebuilding the global database (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database). It seems to have solved the issue.

Hi...Since this last update, I have lost all my subfolders. I found them, I cannot remember where and tried copying them into different folders and rebooting Thunderbird but they are still missing from the left pane. Adding to my confusion is that now I have both a pop3 account and an IMAP account showing...I am wondering if someone can offer a simple solution to this problem. Hello there, I had an institutional Gmail account from my university. Since I no longer work there, they deactivated the account today. I saved all my mails on a local folder and removed the account from Thunderbird, however, it keeps asking me to log in in the deactivated account, which is impossible.
