Hi Everyone,

Okay, here's what I'm look for. I have a iMac running macOS 10.15.6. My wife has a 15in Mac Book Pro with macOS 10.14.6. I update both machines to from TB 68.12 to TB 78.2.2 today. My wife's MBP will receive emails with not problems. However, I can not get emails to download to TB 78.2.2. Earlier this morning while I was still using TB 68.12, I got my email just fine ... 15 of them. We both use Yahoo as our email server. The message at the bottom of TB (lower left) is "myemailaddress:Connected to pop.mail.yahoo.com..." and it just stay like that but nothing downloads. If I go to Yahoo webmail, I have incoming emails like 10 right now. I was thinking about going back to 68.12, but read about some bad stuff that happens. I sure hope someone has a solution to this because it's causing me a lot of problems. Oh, I can send emails from TB 78.2.2, just can't receive emails. Update: After messing around in Account Settings I was able to get my messages by changing my Security Setting from TLS/SSL to None in Account Settings. Don't comfortable with doing that. Read a article that said to change security.TLS to 1. I have no idea how to do that on my Mac. I clicked on Troubleshooting under Help menu, but couldn't find a way to change the TLS setting. Again, my wife's mac book pro works just fine with macOS 10.14.6.

I have been using Thunderbird for several years for my GMail accounts, and have always preferred to download my messages using the POP and SMTP protocols, rather than use the IMAP protocol which leaves them all on the web. Google now inform me that "To help keep your account secure, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password. Instead, you’ll need to sign in using Sign in with Google or other more secure technologies, like OAuth 2.0. What do you need to do? Email software, like Outlook 2016 or earlier, has less secure access to your Gmail. Switch to Office 365, Outlook 2019 or newer, or any other email software where you can sign in using Sign in with Google." These changes are due to take effect from May 30th. How can I prepare for them and still use the POP and SMTP protocols after that date? Is OAuth 2.0 appropriate?

I'm trying to set up another email account but the Confirm Security Exception dialogue is preventing it. The exception is already stored but still keeps asking and when I reconfirm the dialogue flashes off/on and doesn't not disappear preventing the set up of the account. I have other emails from the same host and have not had this issue before. Anything I maybe doing wrong or bug? I've added a screenshot.

Before dinner Wed nite (EST), I could check my GMAIL emails (imap.gmail.com) just fine. After dinner (must've been something I ate?), TBird now keeps asking me for my password when I try to 'Get Messages' or 'Send Messages'. When I put in the correct password, it doesn't accept it. I have checked the CAPS lock key, too. I even tried an old password.

The 'good' password works to get me into Gmail online, so I can view all of my Gmail Emails, but TBird is so much better or course. I can use the GMAIL app for my IPad and everything is fine, so at least I can see my messages.

I CHANGED NOTHING!!! The Passwords show in my password manager.

As an aside: Before all of this happened, I had been noticing that, since updating to the newest TBird, everything is super super slow. When I would type something it'd take 3-5 seconds to show. Plus, it now takes 'forever' to load up.

Just discovered that my Address Book has been wiped out! Is this some type of virus?

Thunderbird does not have 2 step security or I need someone to tell me how to put in 2 step security. I changed my password in the HOW TO DELETE OR EDIT PASSWORDS it worked. I think it worked. I quit. I used the new password when the notification showed to sign in. It did not work. I used the old password and it let me in. I went to saved passwords and the outgoing server is showing. The other password for incoming, or why Thunderbird saved two passwords of the email the same day is unknown but it was the same password when I changed both. Why I cannot sign in with the new password?

Hello, I want to use S/MIME in Thunerbird 78.10.1 (64-bit). In my account settings i've import a .pfx-file. I created this certificate with openssl. I choose this personal certificate for digital signature and encryption (i want to use end-to-end encryption).

If I try to send a signed mail I got an error message: "Application could not find the signing certificate which I choose in my account settings [...]" --> imprecise wording, I am using Thunderbird in German

But I only got this error message, if I choose as encryption technology S/MIME. When I choose OpenPGP as encryption technology I got no error message and the e-mail is sent digital signed.

Where is the problem?

I have been trying to add another gmail account to Thunderbird. I have done this a number of times successfully but I cannot get this one right. I know I have the correct username (email address) and correct psassword. I have enabled POP for all messages and set up pop and smtp to be exactly like other gmail addresses I have.

Thunderbird: latest version 78 - up-to-date.

When I try to send or receive mail via Thunderbird - I keep getting an error window stating that my username and password are not recognised. Why? What have I missed? I double and triple checked everything. It is possible to see emails, send and receive on a browser by logging on to google mail but thunderbird refuses to accept the new account. I sent an email from another address to the new one and I see it in Google mail. If I send from the browser to my established / main email address I receive the test mail.

How can I get around the issue and solve it? The problem seems to lie with Thunderbird.

For quite some time now, some messages that were previously set as Not Junk, are still going into Junk folder. Interestingly, these messages are only from a handful of known valid sources. Further, all these valid messages are setup in the Message Filters, all with the "Get New Mail" option set for "Filter before Junk Classification".

When in the Junk folder, these emails are marked as "Not Junk", which transfers then into the Inbox. Clicking the Inbox automatically sends them to the appropriate sub-folder. It's as though something is forcing these messages into Junk BEFORE Thunderbird even classifies them, bypassing it's internal filtering system. What's frustrating, is that there are no means to see what keywords or phrases are being flagged as Junk, or why those particular emails seem to get into the Junk Folder in the first place.

I should note that while I'm with Spectrum, the email account that's giving me this grief is on my legacy Comcast email account. Could this be where Comcast's servers are flagging these as junk BEFORE they reach Thunderbird, and TB simply routes them to Junk, bypassing any additional checks?

Upgraded from a very old Eudora environment in 2 steps to TB 91.1. Windows 10. All works fine, but the passwordmanager will not save my email-password during normal operation, though the 'save pw' checkbox is there. It's a clean installation, no add-ons. If I start TB in safe (troubleshoot-) mode, all works fine. I don't seem to be able to find out the reason of this change in behaviour, would be happy with any suggestions.

I cannot receive verizon pop emails for 3 days now. Yahoo is pop, hotmail is imap, receive those fine. Verizon Webmail (aol) logs in fine. Just did a test send email from verizon and it get the check password mess. I can send fine from yahoo and hotmail.

I use Thunderbird (68.8) on Windows 10, both brand new installs. I need to sign my emails with a "smart card" (not GPG as with Enigmail; that got rejected by the powers that be). I can't find a guide to connect Thunderbird to my smart card reader. Please don't make me use Outlook.

I have thunderbird 52.9.1 (On that version because later versions break my add ons). I have set up S/Mime and so has my contact. Digital signatures are working fine. I would like to set Thunderbird so that all email he sends to me and vice versa are AUTOMATICALLY encrypted. Is that possible?

My profile is on F:\users\Tanya\profiles\ My profiles.ini points to this folder. My mail is stored in F:\users\tanya\mail When I do backups using macrium I save the profile and mail folders, and the %LOCALAPPDATA% and %APPDATA% folders as well. Now that I have S/Mime set up is there anything else I should be backing up?

V 78.3.1 of Thunderbird on Win 10 64 bit machine. I selected Options / Privacy & Security / Saved Passwords which gives me a popup window called Saved Logins.

I push the Show Passwords button and get a second popup window which says: Windows Security Mozilla Thunderbird Verify your identity to reveal the saved Passwords

It knows the name I'm logged into Windows with and has a box for me to key my password

I key the same password I used to log into windows and it gives me an error stating my username or password is incorrect.

I can review it by clicking (and holding) the eyeball icon. Spelling and capitalization is correct.

What am I missing?

Suddenly, I am unable to receive or send emails using Thunderbird with Yahoo small business. I have been using 78.4.2 with Catalina 10.15.7 on my MacBook Pro since last November without problems. Then, two days ago after functioning normally for hours, my outgoing attempts received a dropdown error message “unable to connect with SMTP server”. Same type of error message when I tried to get messages “unable to connect with POP server”. I am still able to receive and send email on my iPhone, but not on the laptop which makes me suspect that it is something on the laptop rather than on the Yahoo small business side. I was also able to send successfully from the same account on a second machine. There is no firewall or VPN involved. I double-checked the pop and smtp configuration that Yahoo requires and have continued with the same result. I then uninstalled Thunderbird and did a fresh download and install of TB 78.7.1, and created a new profile. Same result. I am still able to use webmail, so all is not lost, but feel like I’ve exhausted the possible fixes I can think of, and am no closer to a solution.

i can not send encrypted messages anymore. TB says the recipient has no matching key, but in the key-list the key is clearly shown.

How can i debug this?

Can anyone explain to me why any time I get logged off of my ISP's email service (as in when Windows arbitrarily decides to do an update and reboots), when attempting to log back in to my email account I get a popup warning telling me that, in essence, 'no reputable provider would require this,' and it requires me to override and make the connection?

Nothing has changed with my provider, to the best of my knowledge. Of course, their tech people are blaming T-bird... expected no less.

The other question I have is this: there is a checkbox in the popup window that says "Permanently store this exception", and it's already checked; WHY does T-Bird not store, or not see this stored exception when this occurs? I have to do this every time I get logged off, and there are few things in computer-land that annoy me more than a setting that is totally ignored after it is selected (like Windows updating anyway when I told it not to...)

Is there anything I can do to make this exception "take?" Thanks for any help you might come up with!!

I can not, for some reason, sign into my Gmail account on Thunderbird. The password I'm entering matches the password on my google account. I'm stumped.

Any help is appreciated.

No password shows up in Preferences > Passwords > Saved Passwords window on my New computer. To get and send email now in Tbird, I log in with a long string of random letters as a password which no longer show up in this window. I don't know why the letters still work though they don't show up. I don't know how I got the letters in the first place. I don't have enough skill to have done this consciously.

I get mail thru Yahoo - ATT to Thunderbird v91.5.1 (64 bit). I have Windows 11. Mail works in and out of Yahoo but I can't get it over to Tbird without a Tbird password I create. I don't want to be stuck with the random letters.

On the Old computer, the same string of letters does show up as passwords for two providers -- mailbox://pop.att.yahoo.com and smtp://smtp.att.yahoo.com -- but everything is somehow configured so Yahoo -> Tbird works automatically and perfectly. I don't have to enter a password when I click Get Messages.

• How can I get a password that I can put into Tbird on my New computer that will bring mail over from and send mail out thru Yahoo? And shows up in Saved Passwords so I can edit in the future? I'd like to set up a new password so it is NOT an automatic log-in. I'm fine entering the password at the start of each email session. Thank you
