Hello, VER: 128.3.0esr (64-bit)

Since I have updated to the newest version of TB, it is now a continiuous issue with "Not Responding". This is happening on three different computers with my mail accounts. I am using Godaddy (IMAP) as my mail service, and they now use Office 365. I did read in a post to add my profile to my firewall exlusion. This did seem to solve my issue, but I have since removed it as I am not sure it is safe. Is there any safety issue adding the profile to the firewall exclude.

Thank you, JR

I've encountered one message in Thunderbird that has remote content enabled (which I don't recall explicitly enabling). In Settings, under "Allow remote content in messages" (unchecked), the "Exceptions..." list is empty. I've also cleared the cache, switched to offline mode, and went back to that message, but it still shows remote content.

Hi, I have configured 2 accounts for E2EE using OpenPGP. I can send signed emails &/or encrypted messages between the 2 accounts. However, if I send a "normal" message i.e. no signing & no encryption selected, it arrives as not signed (correct), but encrypted according to the "Show message security" icon. If I send a normal message to an account that has no known encryption setup, then the message arrives and the "Show message security" button is missing (correctly).

Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks for your help.

Hello: t-bird 128.3.0 esr 64bit. W11pro laptop (dell). MalwareBytes Team up & running & up to date, many yrs. Problem: an attachment, which I tried to completely remove, keeps "coming back" in emails, in a specific inbox (only 1 inbox, of 1 acct). Other t-bird mail accts do NOT have this issue. -The "coming back" means that I delete the attachment and empty the t-bird trash. The attachment then plants itself in another email. -Once planted in an email, it appears the attachment completely erases the body of the text of the body of the email. -The attachment, when opened, is an image of a family. That is it. It is not of any family we know. It is always the same family. -I "found" the attachment (using a search program) by name, "img_2068.jpg" . Deleted what I thought were all occurrences of this file on the laptop, which were only 2 files, both in temp folders. I deleted all temp files from the laptop, emptying the w11 trash & also running w11 file deletion apps. Malwarebytes has never detected this corrupt image file. -After making all those deletions, I ran the search and the search prog did not detect the file. But I reopened t-bird and the corrupt attachment has attached itself to another email, and the same behavior recurs (I delete attachment, corrupt attachment attaches itself to another email).

-Also please note, the emails that had the corrupt attachment attached (have been previously not having any attachments), do exist on the mail server (imap), where you can see the the message body/text. And again, once the corrupt attachment infects an email, in t-bird, that email's body/text goes blank, there is no longer any message to be seen. There is just the attachment notice at the bottom of the email border, to be clicked on to open.

Is the only solution to completely back up all the t-bird accts (address books, sent, drafts, etc.) and reinstall t-bird program (and/or profiles) ? Or, would an "easier" way work (or has worked), like simply deleting the inbox of the "infected" account? I would then download the uncorrupted emails from the imap server in a new inbox. But I don't know where to find this corrupt file, there is apparently no "attachments" folder for t-bird. And again, searching by corrupted attachment file name, and removing it as above, has apparently NOT removed all instances. I don't know how else to find it.

Please advise. Thank you.

Running Thunderbird 128.2.3esr under Windows 10, I just noticed something for the first time. I sent a broadcast message to myself, but included four friends under Bcc:. When I got my own copy of the email, from the address on the To: line, I see that the Bcc: list is visible, as shown in the attached image. Is this JUST on my received copy of the message, or is everyone's name 'in the clear?'

Thinking that my outgoing message might have been cached-and-used or something, I went into my Gmail Web account and looked at the message as received by Google's servers. Sure enough, the 'blind' (ostensibly hidden!) names show up there as well, so I'm assuming that the Bcc: function may not be doing its job. Either that, or the primary (To:) recipient sees the Bcc: list in the clear, and listed Bcc: recipients won't, although I don't recall Thunderbird working this way in the past. But if it does, that's okay, just that Windows Live Mail, my previous client, didn't.

I want to connect one of my Gmail account using OAuth2 and I face a blank page after accessing the Google connection page and entering my email address. It only happens on this account.

I have no issues to connect other Gmail accounts, and I tested 4 of them. Is there a way to know where does the issue come from and/or how to solve this? I already applied everything advised in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-conversion-google-mail-accounts-oauth20, to no avail.

Dear Thunderbird Help Team,

since 3rd January 2023 I get a warning message from Thunderbird during login to my @t-online.de each time I try to read my mails.

I am using Thunderbird 102.6.1 (64) On Windows 10 Home PC with latest Edition Windows 10 Home Version 22H2 Installiert am ‎13.‎04.‎2022 Betriebssystembuild 19045.2486 Leistung Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4190.0

Please see the attached warning message (in German). In my translation of the warning says: "Add security exception rule.... The certificate is not trusted because it has not been verified to have been issued by a trusted authority using a secure signature..."

If I view into the certificate I read the following, see screenshot attached.

I now would not like to accept the security exception permanently. I think this is best practice not to accept such a exception?

Dear help community, do you have any help to fix this issue please? Kind regards

I have been using Thunderbird for a very long time with Outlook / Office365 (pro account). For the past few weeks, Thunderbird has been taking a very long time to send an email. I see the "Sending..." popup but nothing happens. If I click "cancel" and resend immediately, the email is sent immediately. If I wait, the email eventually sends after several minutes, sometimes it does not send at all.

I use the parameters defined on this page: https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/office/param%C3%A8tres-pop-imap-et-smtp-8361e398-8af4-4e97-b147-6c6c4ac95353

Does anyone have the same problem and solved it?

I specify that I have no problem sending with my Gmail accounts, nor with the Outlook web application.

Last week I changed my Yahoo mail password and updated Apple mail on my devices with no problem. On my iMac, running Monterey OS 12.6.5, I use the latest version of Thunderbird for email. However, it has not accepted the new password, which I enter in the popup window requesting it. (See screenshots) I have tried going into settings/privacy and security and changing it in saved passwords and I've tried deleted saved passwords. I have also entered the secure key. Nothing works. All my mail folders are there. I would really appreciate help on how to get Thunderbird to use my new Yahoo password. Thanks.

Hi,

I need help changing the expiration date of my gpg keys (TB 102.10).

I already extended the date on the command line (gpg --edit-keys), but Thunderbird does not recognize this change.

Maybe it has its own keystore - don't know. I try to change the key from Thunderbird's key manager. Unfortunately it tells, the key has "a complex structure" and cannot be changed. Yes, the key has subkeys. But what can I do now?

Thanks

From Sept-16-2024 Microsoft will deprecate Normal Password and require OAuth2 authentication on its email accounts accessed from Thunderbird and other clients.

I'm trying to convert my hotmail accounts on Thunderbird to OAuth2 authentication.

Server Settings Authentication can be set to OAuth2 because OAuth2 is an option in that menu.

But SMTP Server Authentication cannot be set to OAuth2 because OAuth2 is not an option in that menu.

Both Connection Security methods ( Inbound and SMTP ), are set to STARTTLS.

See screenshots, thank you.

I regularly receive and send emails with an S/MIME signature on a ECA card (certs are authenticated via the US Government). I also use a Yubikey for MFA, those certs are authenticated by our local certificate server. Several emails per day are encrypted with the certificates on the ECA card, mostly received. I use ActiveClient as the driver for the ECA card. The last few releases of Thunderbird have been particularly problematic in that 1) if the ECA card has not been previously authenticated with a PIN, and I try to send a signed email, the Broadcom card reader does not recognize when the ECA card is inserted, although it does see the Yubikey device, 2) If the ECA has been authenticated within the 10 minute timeout period, Thunderbird will let me send a signed email; 3) after the card has timed out 2-4 times, Thunderbird no longer responds after trying to read an encrypted email even if I authenticate the ECA using ActiveClient or going to a secure website that requires the ECA card for access. Note that FireFox will let me successfully re-authenticate no matter how many times the authentication has timed out.

My current issue is that I cannot get Thunderbird to respond at all, as the last thing I tried to look at was an encrypted email. Every time I restart Thunderbird, it opens on that email and I can't seem to close the tab before it locks up, then gives me the spinning wheel... Attached is a screen shot of task manager where TB is not responding. I will try rebooting next to see if I can get a cleaner start to TB get the version number, and read a couple of emails before it locks up.

Hello

I have been using Thunderbird as my email service and not had this before. Yesterday, I had to change my password for emails with BT. I changed it on Thunderbird too but now I am receiving emails OK on Thunderbird it is refusing to send any for me and shows the above message. I can send OK from my web based BT email but prefer Thunderbird.

I haven't a clue what I need to do to solve this.

Can you please help? Please tell me is very simple steps I'm not very computer savvy.

Thank you
