‘how do i get thunderbird to stop asking for log-in credentials to an account that i removed from thunderbird? every time i open thunderbird, a dialog box opens asking for my passord to an old account, that has been removed.

I can't add an account. When I try to add an account, I get an error message: can't access property "cleanup", this[#configVerifier] is undefined The version of Thunderbird is 140.0.1esr (64-bit).

I want to access an Outlook.com email. It has 2-step verification. It also says I may be missing a domain name before the email. Not sure what that is. DomainName/myemailname@outlook.com.

TB on desktop is set up for POP3 from my ISP. I found out there is a TB Mobile App for Android. How will this work as far as accessing my messages on the Mobile, but still leaving desktop on POP3? Can I have visibility of emails on Mobile, or do I have to change to IMAP? What about Local Folders, which I use extensively on Desktop.

But there is 1 address that is impossible to add to Thunderbird.

I always get the same error message.

the address and password are correct. I checked on my browser with the gmail box.

I've deleted, manually changed the password in Thunderbird but nothing. the synchro is impossible.

However, the other emails work perfectly.

Tried to setup gmail account manually. Couldn't verify username and/or password. Thunderbird just opened a window with an URL in plain text and did nothing. After 20+ years my email service has closed, and I have kept many old emails on Thunderbird. If I start reading an old email, a Thunderbird message pop up on screen every few seconds stating that it cannot connect to the dead email service. This is a real nuisance as the messages cover the screen over time, and each one needs to be separately deleted. Can this Thunderbird response be switched off?

I wish to keep using Thunderbird for the new email service, but only if I can fix this issue.

I have 2 email accounts on TB. Well, 3 if you count the Plusnet one being set up for IMAP and POP3. This email has been my main one forever, but Plusnet have sold it off to an independent company, which I've opted out of as it will become a paid service after 2 yrs. Both IMAP & POP 3 are set as my default email & I want to change it to my Yahoo email that I only set up on POP3.

My 1st Q. is: I can see the red delete button next to the default notice in Settings. Does this just stop the email being my default or will it delete the account entirely? I don't seem able to make the Yahoo account my default without undoing the default settings for Plusnet first (makes sense). But just want to be sure.

Q.2: Since setting up Yahoo email on TB, I noticed that while all my Inbox messages remain when downloaded on my PC, the Sent messages are being deleted to leave only the most recent (currently) 11 messages, like it is if I log in online to Yahoo webmail. Does this mean I need to configure it to IMAP as well to make sure nothing is deleted from my PC?

Eventually, I want to delete the Plusnet accounts entirely from TB. Although I am still receiving emails sent to this address, which is still quite useful, I cannot use it to send or reply to these emails. Also, since the sell off I've been receiving unprecedented amounts of spam/scam emails, especially to my iPhone (TB isn't set up on my phone).

I want to add school e-mail account to Thunderbird cause I already use Thunderbird for my private e-mail. If I try to connect the school e-mail account to Thunderbird, it loads and loads and loads but never gets the IMAP and SMTP settings from the server. It tried to add the account in a new install of Thunderbird in a virtual machine and there was the password input at the start to the usual name and e-mail input, when adding a new account. There it worked and Thunderbird got the settings from the server. But I don't want to access my school e-mail account via a virtual machine. I want access through my own PC. So it looks like the server needs the password from Thunderbird to get the settings but there is no way to input it before requesting the server. Or is it? Thanks for help in advance.

I want to convert a POP account to IMAP. ALL the answers I find (incl Mozilla help), say to create the new IMAP first (after 'disabling' the POP account). ThunderBird doesn't allow that. Any help? I do want to keep all my "local" messages until the IMAP is setup.

Searches and AI tell me to use "Account Actions" on the account settings page but I see no "Account Actions" on my Thunderbird.

Am I just blind? Am I looking in the right place? I could swear I've done this before without any trouble.

I have a new laptop "YOGA" with W11. Now I want to add an extra e-mail address. I am in Sweden and now I want to add my Spanish e-mail. It is a " @telefonica.net" address. I only want it to receive mail, to send mail I use my ordinary swedish mail. When I put in the "@telefonica.net" Thunderbird will not respond it says "use only letters and figures etc"

How can I fix this?

I have been using Thunderbird since it was Netscape. (that's how old I am)

In all that time, I have NEVER had a password for Thunderbird. I have never even seen an option to set up a password for Thunderbird.

I thought that maybe if there were a subscription option available now, then I would be able to subscribe, get a proper personal account, make a password for it, and once again be able to use Thunderbird for email management.

I WISH! If anyone knows the URL for a Thunderbird subscription page, please send the URL, because after much searching, I still haven't found one.

On previous PC's I had TB configured to access Usenet This used: Server name: news.eternal-september.org

It would then appear in the list of accounts in the 'Left Hand pane'

I have configured (maybe not correctly) Acess, but nothing appears in teh Left Hand pane.

I'm trying to add a second email account from my domain into Thunderbird and on the password test page I get an error. Of course the server exists, my other email account also uses it. How do I fix this or is this a problem with Thunderbird?
