Not receiving emails

Installed Thunderbird over the weekend...made a modest donation...installed the email client, configured and it was running fine (I did have one issue, but I'll deal with that later), but yesterday I noticed it hadn't downloaded email since Jan 18, it's now Jan 20. No problem getting the email on my Android phone.

I found a similar support request on this site, but the instructions to try to fix the problem didn't match my version of T-bird. I.e., it said to go to Options, etc., and to remove the password. But I don't have Options, the closest thing I have is Account Settings and I don't see where I can remove the password.

The rotating cursor never stops and the dot next to Inbox in the upper left keeps shifting back and forth.

I am trying to regain space on my 2014 MacBook Air HD, and have discovered that my old Thunderbird Mail Service is using 46 GB of storage. This will be old emails, but I don't want to loose them, so I would like to copy all the necessary folders to my external HD so I can erase them from my internal HD.

Can you pls advise me how to do this without losing or corrupting any of my Thunderbird emails or damaging any files on my Mac.

I have been using Thunderbird for many years to read and send my verizon.net email. 2 days ago I started getting the error message "Sending of password for user ____@verizon.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.verizon.net responded [SYS/TEMP] server error - Please try again later." I am running Thunderbird 91.5.0 on Windows 10. In the various help files, I see reference to OAuth2 authentication. Thunderbird won't let me select this for pop.verizon.net. I tried automatically selecting authentication but Thunderbird sets authentication to "Normal". The AOL documentation shows that I can use IMAP instead of POP, but Thunderbird won't let me set anything but POP. How can I get reconnected to verizon.net email? Thanks Penn Hess

Hi, My problem is:- Thunderbird filter on an address book not working with the "Additional Email" field only the "Email" field.

Just to check I swapped the email addresses around between the Email and Additional Email and yes it still only filtered on the Email field. So how do I get it to filter using the Additional Email as well as the Email field.

My only work around is to split the entries into two and only use the main email field in the address book but surely the whole point of having an Additional Email field is to not have to make duplicates if the person has more than one email address.

I am using Windows 10. Using data recovery software I have recovered some lost Mozilla Thunderbird emails on my hard disk. They each have very long letters and numbers as their ID. Eg:- (0b5a9684e…………). (0ffd267235…………) When I click on the recovered thunderbird files nothing happens. Can you tell me which Thunderbird folder to put them in so that i can view them with Thunderbird please? ….\$AppData$\Local\Profiles\…….. etc. Regards.

A user has migrated from a native mail server (hermes) to Exchange online. AS Hermes mailbox had a limited space, he saved his conversations in local folders. I'm now trying to move those conversations from local folders into the new Exchange online mailbox set up in Thunderbird. But not all the conversations are copying. The original shows 1,277 conversations. I have tried to copy to and move to and only 377 conversations are listed. Can you advise please?

This is new question in relation to the original "Adding new files & attachments in Thunderbird" post. I can't create a new definition for .LOG files that will launch the .LOG attachment in NOTEPAD.

I copied the definition for 'text' in 'handlers.json' to create one (I thought) for .LOG files. It shows in Preferences and I can assign NOTEPAD to it there. Here's the update JSON. However, the only action that works is SAVE. I can't get NOTEPAD to launch

Hi, I have a problem with the "Ignore all" tag when checking the spelling of a sent message, this button does not work. At the moment the button does exactly the same "Ignore" button, and should ignore any other language errors. I have attached screenshots but they do not show the exact problem with the operation.

The support site [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-cha...] says that the Tools menu has an Options under it, or alternatively I can click on the three horizontal bars in the upper right and select Options under that.    Neither of those approaches is working for me. Under Tools, there are 17 selections, none of them for Options. Under the three horizontal bars, there are 18 selections, none of them for Options. I'm using Thunderbird version 91.5.0.    Is there another way to get to Options?

Last few days I was trying to fix send/receive emails; following all kinds of suggestions (generating pass in AOL mail Account Security section, copying and pasting where requested) I managed to make incoming mail work on my PC. Sending the mails still no go despite generating a different pass for outgoing mail. I am getting this: Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.verizon.net. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'. Where am I going wrong??? Please help.

Now I have a question only you genius types can answer. I have been getting loads of spam email with bogus addresses from .aol accounts. They come straight into my regular @gmail.com account but how do they get here? I figured out how to set a filter to stop this but am still concerned about this whole problem. See some of the addresses received in my ... @gmail account. I receive dozens of emails every day, all spam, all with a bogus .aol email address. My email is ... @gmail.com. I receive spam emails in this account sent to the following emails: ... @aol.com; ... @aol.com; ... @aol.com; ... @aol.com etc. etc. etc. HOW DO THESE EMAILS EVEN GET INTO MY MAIL? Marlys

Obviously made an unidentified mistake while backing up my Thunderbird profile: when re-starting Thunderbird after the backup, it installed again and created a new profile. However, this new profile lets me download and upload new messages but does not include a "Mailboxes " folder in "Local Folders". The individual mailboxes and the "Mailboxes" folder still exist in the old profile. I need to recover these into the new profile without loosing the messages I received since the mishap.

I am old and not very savvy about computers and am afraid to screw things up further if I do anything haphazardly.

I see several possible solutions like 1) forcing the use of the old profile (how exactly? would I lose the new messages?), 2) copying the old "Mailboxes" folder and putting it in the new profile, (how exactly and where?), 3) same thing but with the whole old "Local Folders" file and 4) also, there might be better ways than these to handle my problem (how?).

But I am worried that if I try these things willy-nilly, I'll screw things up further or loose the messages I received since the mishap or trigger other bad consequences.

Please help. Thanks
