I keep thunderbird pinned to my Windows taskbar and that is usually where I look for it. Every so often and much mor6e frequently than I like it vanishes from there and I believe that that is when it an update to it arrives. To maintain the state I like I then need to delete the now-dead pinning for the taskbar, find thunderbird afresh and leunch it and re-pin. This is not a terribly new behaviour but the grief threshold in my life has just been passed leading me to ask if this is a thunderbird issue or a windows one and if there is some scheme I can use to keep the application pinned pretty well come what may. This is obviously not life critical but it has been winding me up! Many thanks. Arthur

Ok people who actually write this program. It is possible that you are not guilty of this, but I am seriously suspicious. Your recent auto update automatically either ERASED my email messages and/or automatically changed the storage folder, or just changed the folder.

And :I cannot remember where I was putting them before to try and recover anything. Somewhere on my terabyte D drive because my C drive was full.

Any ideas on how to my messages back?

Lost in email

The user who found she could not run the new version was the user who installed the update. She returned to the previous version (which runs OK). As before the update, server access was via Pop. However her Sent and Local Folders did not appear at all on return to the earlier version and her Inbox now contained only a few recent emails from this year and emails from several earlier years was missing. She set up a second account using Imap in order to be able to retrieve all her incoming mail from the Virgin server but is still without sent mail and her local folders.

Is there any way to retrieve the missing data and to combine the IMap and Pop accounts into one?

Hello all After a Thunderbird update, a folder named "thunderbird" was created in my Personal folder. This folder is empty. After deleting the folder, it is recreated when Thunderbird is restarted. How do I get rid of this folder? Alternatively, what does this folder contain, and how can I move it to a different location?

Thunderbird version 128 is missing in the release page - https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/releases/

Do look into this.

Lorsque je veux modifier la manière dont Thunderbird est mis à jour, il s'affiche ceci :

"Thunderbird est mis à jour par une autre instance" et il est impossible de le modifier car si on on choisit de le faire, le logiciel thunderbird corrige immédiatement et retourne à la configuration précédente (solutions/choix à cocher, mises à jour automatiques ou manuelles) !

I'm running Thunderbird 128.8.0esr 64bit. I see that many extensions are saying that they work on versions including 137. I see that the newest release is 136.0, which has at least one feature I like: a way to globally set threaded or unthreaded messages. What about 137? Is it still in beta. Is either one of these worth upgrading from 128? Thanks!

I went to look for an update since I was having some issues with repeat downloads of mail from earthlink and found a discussion about "desktop channel" "release channel" "ESR" and have no idea what all that is about. I see a desktop download and an app.

I'm using a dell laptop for personal email and trying to keep it simple. The "about" page shows 128.10.1 esr I've loved TBird to gather my 3 sometimes 4 emails in one place. Any suggestions for which updates to get and how?

Problem noticed 4/28/26, am using ExpressVPN and Malwarebytes. I tuned off the vpn = no difference. I do not want to turn off my anti virus. ISP = Zianet. TBird V 149.0.2 as of my previous problem restoring TTrash. I do not know if there is a new version since I cannot open

We ran the newest update (140.1.0esr) for thunderbird on our servers. We now are experiencing an issue with users. Attached is the message we get. Can we get some support on how to resolve this issue.

I would like to know, if there is a reason that the Thunderbird Flatpak still remains on a version published on July 7. Iam switching back to Thunderbird, because of the new Microsoft Exchange Feature.

Is there a Timeline for how the Flatpak updates are delayed or anything that can be done to push the current version into Flathub?

How in the world is Thunderbird 5 revisions behind in the flatpak repo, i.e. 140? But current version is 145? Windows version is 145, but flakpak is only 140? REALLY FRUSTRATING when you are migrating from Windows to Linux and Thunderbird is way out of date! No wonder people don't like migrating to Linux. You make it truly painful! Documentation/website for Thunderbird states that flatpak always installs latest version? RIGHT, what a load of BS.

Thunderbird Desktop is now available in the Monthly Release Channel, with version 136.0 released on March 4th, 2025.

More information about this release is not yet updated in the Release Notes.

Currently, only information about the ESR channel is available in the Release Notes.
