Hello, Thunderbird email user. Between October 28 and 31, 2024, I mistakenly activated the setting: delete all messages except the most recent (2000 days). All my messages that I had classified in folders are deleted, and I can't even find them in the trash. I got help from a competent person to find them on my computer's hard drive, but there is no trace left. Is there a way on your side to recover these very important messages for me. I am in IMAP Thank you in advance for your answer

I need a Thunderbird email account. At the end of the set-up I mistakenly clicked "decline" instead of "allow" Thunderbird permission to read my Gmail messages. I believe I just gave Thunderbird permission to access my gmail as I tried to write Hawaii Labor Board from their website again, Thunderbird email seems to be Hawaii Labor board's only option on their website. My first question: Can I start over setting up a Thunderbird email account linked to my Google email account? Second question: Is it even possible to set-up another account separate from gmail?

I'm down to the last few days before Outlook will not be usable on Thunderbird unless I jump through some hoops.

I've seen posts about deleting the Outlook account, then reinstalling it in Thunderbird and Thunderbird will create the necessary security steps to make it usable again. This seems to be the method that works rather than just going into the settings and changing the necessary security settings.

MY QUESTION IS: I have lots of emails (sent and received from past months and years) that I keep in folders within Thunderbird.

How can I keep those folders/emails in the format I have if it's necessary to delete the account on Thunderbird then reestablish it? My understanding is that deleting it in Thunderbird will also delete all local folders and email saved within that account.

Thanks B

I am currently trying out Thunderbird 128.2.3esr (64-bit) on windows 10 home version 22H2. I have been using Mailbird. I exported my address books from mailbird to .vcf format with the "settings" "Selected Groups" "Export contacts to vCard". I have viewed the .vcf files in Textpad and all seem correct. When I try to "Address Book" "Import" "vCard File" the import completes successfully. But when I look at the list of contacts only several show names. The rest are blank and when I click on the blank contacts in the list the right hand pane is also empty of values. I tried multiple times with different .vcf files with the same result. So I broke the .vcf files apart thinking that it could only handle so many at a time. Nope! some of the .vcf files import. Most import and create a blank contact. Each of the vCard files has a possibly different set of fields and I can not see a pattern in the ones that are accepted compared to the ones that are not. Help please. p.s. I have the plain vanilla Thunderbird with no extensions.

I just updated to Nebula and all of my inbox emails (from gmail) have disappeared.

All of the other folders are intact, including the sent folder. I also have another email account in this client (my work email) and these are also fine. It's only affected my gmail inbox messages.

I'm using this email for job applications currently so would really appreciate help figuring out how I recover my emails. Thank you!

New to Thunderbird and to macOS. I need to create 3 separate profiles. I have successfully created one account, but I need two more, and I must not mingle the email accounts in a single profile. I have followed instructions to open ProfileManager but Terminal reports that the path does not exist. It doesn't seem to matter whether I quit Thunderbird, because the Terminal Response is the same (I have tried the command both ways, and restarted the computer after installation). The Thunderbird Help files point to Thunderbird 115 with macOS, but my installation download created version 128.2.0esr. Troubleshooting Information in Thunderbird Help shows the Application Binary as "/Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird" and that is what's indicated in the instructions to open the ProfileManager except it cannot find the -bin -P.

As additional background on my plight: I have only set up one user on the computer, and I am logged in as that user so Terminal opens in my user directory. I was pretty comfortable in a Windows (up to 8.1) environment, and am struggling with my move to the Mac, so it may be that I don't have permissions or some other setting set correctly to do this, but I don't know what to look for.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I want to migrate from Thunderbird 52.9.1 on an old Win7 PC to a fresh install of Thunderbird 78.13 on a new Win10 PC. Both PCs are 64-bit. I use POP, not IMAP.

Because Tbird v52 on Win7 was incrementally upgraded from Tbird v2 through the years I would prefer to start with a fresh Tbird 78.13 on Win10 and then migrate over the mail and address book from v52 on Win7 to v78 on Win10. After I have completed migrating to v78.13 on the Win 10 PC and all appears to be working well I will proceed with upgrades to a more current version.

The migration process seems fairly straightforward except that I am aware the format for the address book changed with v78(?).

Do I need to do anything 'special' to migrate the address book from v52 into v78 and have it function properly?

Will an export from v52 and then an import into v78 perform whatever format conversions are necessary for the address book to work on v78?

Will a straight copy of the v52 address book file pasted into v78 work properly?

Or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks!

I have been using TB for many years and although Nebula was behaving a lot of times with Not Responding. I was able to send and receive Emails without issue.

I needed to access my Charter Spectrum account and had forgotten my PW ... I changed the password on their webite in order to view some other parameters, (nothing Email related).

Since changing my PW at their website I am no longer able to use TB to send OR Receive Emails. Have been on the phone with Spectrum/charter for 2 days now. Verified ALL settings were correct as per their people. I also got a lot of "we don't support 3rd party Email clients". I was a pc tech in a past life and remember that same old schpeel!

Since this I uninstalled TB reinstalled and no change still no work! I deleted my profile folder and everything TB associated.(nothing touched in the Registry. Reinstalled and same old thing --- Here is the SMTP error I reeceive, IMAP generates a similar failure message. Please see attached image.

Charter/Spectrum says it's TB's issue. I disagree, It seems to me they want to lock me into using THEIR website as my only avenue to send/receive Email.

Please help me get out of this horrible nightmare -- Seems they are the ONLY provider in my area and they pretty much told me "sucks to be you".

Help !!! You saw me waving at you when I was in the river; I wasn't saying hello, I was drowning!

Thanks in advance for helping find a resolution, any additional information needed please ask, and I will soon reply.

Hello. I just installed Thunderbird 128 on my MacBook running on Sonoma.

As a result I instantly "lost" my Gmail email as the Inbox folder is totally empty, no other folder shows and it cannot connect with my Gmail account nor synchronize.

I flagged the "Accept cookies" options in the general settings as it seemed that this could be an issue but nothing changed.

Anyone else experienced the same issue? Someone does know how to fix it?

Thanks a lot. AL

I'm relatively new to TB. In Windows Live Mail, I could write a message and hit send, which then put it in the outbox. Then, but only then, I could either manually send the message (send and receive) or have the program do so automatically every x minutes. In TB, when I hit send, it simply sends the message. Is there a way to store messages in the outbox until I'm ready for them to be sent? Do I need to go offline and then back online to do that? If so, I assume that means that when I'm offline, I can't receive any messages. If there are messages in the outbox and I go online, do they get sent when I hit "get messages?"
