Thunderbird 102.9.0 I am no longer able to keep my address book alphabetized. I have gone thru the View looking for any alphabetize method, but it's not on the list. I go through my address book yearly just to clean up, and it had been in order for years. I hadn't checked it since beginning of 2022. Now it's in random order. I do allow updates to download and run automatically since I've never had any issues with a Mozilla product. I have tried a restoration, however that did not change the address book. Thanks everyone!

I have a Spam folder in Gmail, but that folder does not exist in Thunderbird V102.9. I tried deleting the account and re-creating, all folders show up except Spam.

How can I create mailing lists and use them. I checked on the internet. In mzl.la/1Go7VOo you describe a possibility which does not work, because File does not have option for New > mailing list. When I originally, years back transferred my address book to Thunderbird I had mailing lists, which were 'erased when Thunderbird synced with my Google gmail account. Please help. I really need to create mailing lists for my research work. Thanks

How can I create mailing lists and use them. I checked on the internet. In mzl.la/1Go7VOo you describe a possibility which does not work, because File does not have option for New > mailing list. When I originally, years back transferred my address book to Thunderbird I had mailing lists, which were 'erased when Thunderbird synced with my Google gmail account. Please help. I really need to create mailing lists for my research work. Thanks. I will be glad to donate once I get an answer what to do.

Hi, I have spent 10 hours looking. I am using the Portable version of Thunderbird. 102.9.0 (32-bit) Have been for years. In the Profile folder, there is a folder named “Mail”. G:\Thunderbird Portable\Data\profile\Mail\ In the mail folder there are a lot of entries like, “pop.gmail-1.com”, “pop.gmx-1.com”, “pop.googlemail-1.com”, ‘pop3.live.com”, “pop-mail.outlook-1.com’. There are a lot of entries that were left behind from long removed accounts.

Is it safe to remove these entries? Should I? I am in the process of removing and restoring my accounts.

I was having trouble with my Thunderbird folders and reinstalled the program. Now I cannot send emails. I receive emails, but I can't seem to find the correct email server address for Time Warner Cable (TWC) I have tried mail.twc.com smtp.twc.com and several others.

When I attempt to send an email, it just sits there trying.

Some time ago, Thunderbird changed the whole organization of the email presentation. I am a long-time Thunderbird user who is used to the old screen and organization and I want to find out how I can get the old screen and organization back. I've attached a screenshot so you can see which version of Thunderbird is causing me so much trouble. Why change the traditional top-of-the-screen menu: (File, View,Tools, Help)? It was so logical and so easy. The movable mish-mash that exists now is driving me crazy.

For instance, I used an app under Tools that presorted certain emails and routed them to assigned folders. Not only has the sorting gone wrong, I haven't got the faintest idea where the app is? The emails that were once successfully sorted and rerouted are not working. And they're turning up as read in random folders.

Firefox also changes things that don't need to be changed, but my experience there is that an add-on or extenstion soon turns up that restores the features that users like.

In my preliminary search on my problem, there was not one article. In fact, my search came back with the message that no article appeared to match my query. I guess I must be the only person that is not happy with this interface.

Is there a way I can get the old version back? I'm sorry if I seem grouchy, but I am 83 and not being able to find what I need and what I used to have makes me a tad tetchy.

Thanks for your support and information.

As I mentioned previously, my Windows 10 PC locked up with the Blue Screen problem. So my disk drive has a corrupt copy of Windows 10, my data and my programs. My local computer repair shop was able to copy my data off onto a new SSD which had also had Win 10 installed. But now I must get my FairEmsil Private Folders and Contacts off the old disk. This is where I need your help and I will pass your previous advice on to my computer shop as it looks a bit beyond my expertise.

If my folders and contacts are "in the application", is there a way to copy the application off the old disk and search within it?

I always keep my apps up to date with the latest updates, so perhaps I was on the version with the Import/Export feature, but can that be of any use in my situation?

Further on Import/Export, can this feature used for Backup & Restore?

Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I'm in a lot of trouble.

I would like create a back up of my local folders (26 years of emails) in the cloud. Reading questions posted here, the recommendation is to backup the complete 'Profiles' folder. However, when I try and do so, I am not successful because at some point the backup process glitches out. (I am trying to upload the folder to a Microsoft OneDrive folder and have tried on both my PC running Windows 7 Pro and a Macbook running OS Monterey.) I suspect that my internet connection is not stable enough to copy 30 GB (about the size of the 'Profiles' folder). Is there any alternative to backing up the complete 'Profiles' folder?

Please disregard below - I have joined the TB Beta group discussion and found this link regarding my issue, but I have yet to figure out how to make the like changes which user HS6666 was able to perform. I may have been 2 patches down level. 3/16/2023 last night around 7pm (EST) Thunderbird Beta was acting very strange, I rebooted my PC but didn't start Thunderbird until this morning 3/17/2023. I quickly noticed the UI looked completed different - my custom menu (not sure correct name) was no longer present. See attachment where I did attempt to customize the Toolbar, also notice the search bar is at same bar, I don't recall ever have a prior "search" area, I would using use the (edit>find>search messages). I attempted to recreate them (Print, Mark, Get Message), but I don't recall each custom change I made prior. The new UI looks WAY different - I'm not pleased that I have to relearn everything, I read on "Changes" for 112.0b1 that some fixes for Various Unified Toolbar improvements and Various visual and UX improvements were "Fixed" but I without reading each note to figure out what I need to do to get the UI close to what it looked like before - I am posting this issue with hopes others can advise me and if they too have had this issue. Thanks in advance - Jim - How do I get them back as before?

I'm trying to archive items for an account to local storage in a single folder and maintaining the existing folder structure for the account.

That's exactly how I've set the archive options but when I archive something it is placed in an Archive folder within the account (with sub folder structure) and replicated to the IMAP server.

This works fine on other accounts where I have set the same archive options - everything is archived to the correct subfolders in the local directories.

Any help appreciated.

The following may or may not be related - If you look at the attached screenshots TB and the native Webmail interface are showing slightly different special folder structures. TB has Archive and Archives for this account and Junk and Spam, whereas the webmail has Archive and Junk - although also note that the content of Archive in webmail is the content of Archives in TB???

As an additional question, why, when archiving the content of inbox from any account, does this get placed in the root of the archive folder, rather than in a folder called inbox off the root. I'm sure this will have nothing to do with my issue, but having noticed it I can't see any option to control this behaviour.

My wife and I have been using Thunderbird for many, many years and have never had a problem, even when migrating from one computer to another. A few weeks ago she became unable to connect and sync her email. The error message is:

"Sending of password for user xxxxxx@hotmail.com did not succeed. Mail server pop3.live.com responded Connection is closed 12."

She can get to her emails by going directly to outlook.com and using her email address and password. I have been through each setting in her Thunderbird profile and, since I have no problems, even compared it to the settings in my profile. We both have our own laptops, so that is a factor. I also tried disabling her antivirus software temporarily to see if that was interfering. As a last ditch effort, I backed up her emails and then deleted her email account in Thunderbird and re-created it. The same problem existed. She has a relatively new Lenovo laptop running Windows 10. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

All of a sudden I am unable to see any emails in Thunderbird. When I click on where they are I can see a preview below (see attached image)

If I go to All mail, then all emails are shown. I can right click on an email and open in new tab and see the full email.

I've uninstalled and re-installed the latest version of Thunderbird, but the issue still persists.

Any ideas?

This annoyance started this week. Maybe it is 102? All I know is that messages with several back and forth replies are now ALL opening across the top of the screen. This is EXTREMELY annoying. Please make this stop!

I read about threads. I don't think this is the issue, but it might be. If someone replies to an email from me, I do NOT want to see five messages open across the top.

Thank you for any help in disabling this annoyance.

Have just upgraded to v102.6.1. I appear to have lost the facility to Get Messages for inividual accounts. All it shows is Get All New Messages. Is this the way its meant to work ? I have 5 accounts some of which are pop3, and timed to poll every 30 minutes. If I know there is a messages waiting I used to be able to click the Get Messages button and choose the account.

If this is the way it's meant to work, is it possible to roll back to the previous version ?
