After a monster update on Win 10 it uninstalled Thunderbird. After I reinstalled I find that I lost all local folders except junk, trash, and outbox. This is odd since my inbox reinstated undeleted email dating back to 2018. So I look thru Thunderbird support questions and can only find answers that predating TB v. 78.9.0 (64-bit). If you have an answer for me please be specific e.g. " go to help tab, click on troubleshooting" etc. if you get my drift.

If you want to feel sorry for me that's ok. I lost all bank/IRS stuff, genealogy correspondence, program warranties, and when I think about it I just want to sit down and snivel.

BTW it also ate my address book, but I can only deal with one thing at a time.

I have used Thunderbird since 2005 and rarely have problems. For several days now I can sent emails but I can not receive them. It says I have 9 trying to download but all it does is timeout. I am expecting a very important email and need this to work. Any help is appreciated.

Thunderbird emails appearing in "Junk Mail" mysteriously

For the last several months some of my emails have ended up in the "Junk Mail" folder somehow. Previously all my junk mail went to "Junk" and was flagged with yellow flame and shortly deleted. The email now going to "Junk Mail" includes some from relatives and Medicare. Fortunately none is flagged as junk but of course is a pain to move to the inbox manually. Has there been a redesign of Thunderbird somehow causing email to end up in that directory? Is that something that my ISP Charter/Spectrum might be causing? Thanks, besides the constant "Not Responding" messages I get, this is making me wonder if I need to find another email program.

From Victoria, BC, Canada: my email server, Telus, forced me to a "mandatory upgrade" which preserves my old address, but makes me to go through Google. During the difficult "transition", I was told that the new system would not support Thunderbird. What is going to happen to my extensive record (correspondence, saved articles, address books etc)? Will I still be able to access this history or will it all have to be transferred to f.ex. the cloud - I have a Dropbox account.???? Desperately

Been using thunderbird for at least 10 years with no problems and I love it. I probably had 7 accounts set up in there with all my folders, templates etc.

Today, I woke up and opened thunderbird. It looks upgraded and ALL my accounts and settings are gone. It's asking me to setup an email account. This is a monumental disaster and impacting my business and productivity.

Anway to recover everything?

I'm running Thunderbird 78.9.1 (64-bit) on Mac Osx.

I have these add ons:

  • Provider for CalDAV & CardDAV
  • Send Later
  • Send Later Button
  • TbSync

The problem I'm experiencing is autocomplete doesn't work when composing an email.

I've checked the address book and it is empty - so records presumably are not being populated.

I manually added a record to the address book and auto complete for that record still doesn't work.

In Preferences - Addressing, Local Address Books is ticked. Also ticked is 'automatically add outgoing.... to Collected addresses'

I've checked my profile folder, I tried deleting all files starting with abook.. hasn't helped

Lastly I don't have a file called "abook.mab" instead it is "abook.mab.bak"

Any help and pointers would be really appreciated.

When "Local folders" is focused in the left pane, the "Thunderbird - Local Folders" pane shows on the right.

This is a PITA, since when that pane appears, I can't switch anymore between panes with my keyboard (F6 stops working; it's not clear if this is a bug or not).

My problem is that sometimes, but not always, when I open Thunderbird, "Local Folders" is focused by default, so I don't have any way to get control of Thunderbird via keyboard.

Is there any way to prevent this? I have multiple mail accounts set up, I'm not sure if this is related or not.

Hi, Probably it's an easy question, but still, it's an issue for me. I have just created a thunderbird account. Everything it's working perfect, but I can't log out. I just want when leaving office to log out and when coming back to log in. Unfortunately I can't do that. I have tried the exit button on the attached picture, but still. I will be very thankful if someone helps me.

Hi everybody,

I was just w riting to ask as I can only seem to increase the font of the e-mail written text, but really the interface size is absolutely ridiculously small and is there any way I can enlarge this (without reducing the resolution of my monitor which is not really a solutuion)

Not everyone has the best eyesight for this kind of thng and I find thunderbird the best mail and calander client but at least on windows or in browser-mail I can CTRL+ to zoom in and read, it's at the stage where I might have to use the windows magnifying tool just to see t hings like "inbox" "spam" and my list of emails' titles.

Please tell me there exists an option to make all this larger like interface size, I mean come on almost every modern software has an option bar slider to increase these things

I have seen in the past that people were wanting to know the same thing, but following the solutions from back in time don't work because too many things have changed.

Sooooo, how do I turn this off ?

Hi, I have a few email accounts that are associated with my own web site.

In TB: Tools | Account Settings | Outgoing Server (SMTP)

I have 3 entries: - entry for Default Server (which is the smtp of my local ISP) - entry for email address 1 which gives the mail server address of my web site mail server - entry for email address 2 which gives the mail server address of my web site mail server

NOTE: the outgoing settings (when I select Edit) for account 1 and account 2, seem to be identical. Neither one of them seem to indicate to use the Default Server.

When I send emails for address 1, TB uses the mail server of my web site mail server.

When I send emails for address 2, TB uses the DEFAULT mail server.

Why do they behave differently? I cannot find the setting that determines which is used.

Any help is much appreciated !
