Hello!

I am migrating emails from one gmail account to another gmail account. I do this by dragging the emails on Thunderbird from one folder to another one. For a few emails only (the ones with large attachments) I get the error "Connection to server imap.gmail.com" has timed out. I am looking for a fix and how to temporarily increase the timeout threshold.

The issue happens: - always for messages with attachments >11Mb. - sometimes for messages with attachments >8Mb. - unrelated to the internet speed (either >100Mb/s or a few Mb/s) - the error pop up usually after 40s to 1min - first showing in the bottom bar "xxx@gmail.com: Connected to imap.gmail.com", followed by "xxx@gmail.com: Sending login information..." and the I finally get the popup of error "Connection to server imap.gmail.com" has timed out."

The two things I already tried, based on past posts, are: - mailnewstcp.timout increased to 1000. It doesn't seem to change anything for my issue. - mail.server.server1.timeout changed from 29 to 100. It doesn't take into account the change and revert back to 29. I didn't try anything on gmail side.

Did anyone got this issue and found a fix? Thanks in advance

Trying this again with the recent OS X update - CLOSER!

I recently updated OS X to 10.15.6 and set Thunderbird as the default mail client in OS X Mail and the Thunderbird App. When I select a formatted email address in a document, the Thunderbird mail client opens as expected. However, if I attempt to use the SHARE menu (Photos, Messages, etc), I do not have the option to email the selected item as before when OS X Mail was the default client. If I select MORE to add a SHARE action, the Thunderbird mail app is checked but grayed so it can not be selected. I thought this was supposed to be resolved 10.15.6. Is there more to the configuration?

Does anyone know why Apple OS Voice Control does not work in Thunderbird? I wake up Voice Control, try to dictate a sentence in a new mail message window and nothing shows up. Dictation works in Ms Word, Safari browser, and all other apps.

My Macbook Pro used to have Dictation and Enhanced dictation. With the Catalina OS-- Enhanced Dictation was renamed "Voice Control". Standard dictation remains and it works in Thunderbird, but Voice Control is a lot better. The two cannot run simultanously. I am on 68.10.0 and Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6

Hope Accessibility is important and someone can assist. Wrist injury means I need dictation.

I am running Thunderbird 78.1.1 on a Mac (OS 10.13.6 = High Sierra). I've been using Thunderbird as my email client for over a decade. On Monday Thunderbird asked me to update (to 78.0.1) and after I did that it stopped sending or receiving email via my work account, which is via smtp.office365.com. Thunderbird has frequently been slow via both my accounts, but now it is timing out ~80% of the time to my gmail account and 100% of the time on my work account. I did not change any server or email settings. My ISP is AT&T Uverse, my firewall is the built-in Mac firewall and I turned that off without effect. I am not running anti-virus software, to the best of my knowledge. The error messages I'm getting when trying to send email are

"Sending of the message failed. Peer’s Certificate issuer is not recognized. The configuration related to smtp.office365.com must be corrected."

and the same thing using the gmail server: "Sending of the message failed. Peer’s Certificate issuer is not recognized. The configuration related to smtp.gmail.com must be corrected."

Two screenshots of my smtp settings are attached.

Thanks for any guidance!

Safe Mode TB 68.11.0 64-bit Mac 10.14.6

Process: tag email in inbox see correct tag in column move to next email in inbox tag 2nd email 1st email tag gone

No only that, but I went to take snagit photos of the screen and now both messages are gone. Checked my account via the web and they are gone.

Stopping the use of tags. This is not the first time, emails are gone. They just seem to disappear.

Love Thunderbird, but I am in business and I can't afford to lose emails.
