I have browsed the threads with this same issue and have tried all that has been suggested but I can not get my images to show when my recipient receives my email.

When I click 'attach this image to the message', the images are sent as an attachment. Unticking this box, which has previously been fine, some recipients can see my images, but many can not. I have tried using images that are sourced on my PC and from my website - no difference. I have tried saving as a template. Didn't work. My email signature is saved as a HTM file and I have ticked 'Attach the signature from a file instead'. I have also tried pasting the HTML code into the 'signature text' area and this made no difference. Compose messages in HTML format is ticked. In send options, I have used both 'send message in both plain text and HTML' and 'send the message in HTML anyway' - neither have worked.

Would really appreciate some help with this as it looks so unprofessional when my recipients keep getting white boxes in place of images.

I am really at a loss. Please help!

Thanks a million,

Gary

I need help setting up a filter to send spam to a junk folder. I'm getting several spam messages per day to my inbox. Most of them appear to be from a legitimate company but they are usually from a com address that is two unrelated words.

I've tried following instructions, but I'd get to a point where it didn't work.

I added Spam Scores to Thunderbird. I'm in message filters, match x-spam-score. But I can't figure out what to do from there, like "contains", etc . I don't know what to put there. What should I put there, or am I in the wrong place?

I am new to Thunderbird world after being an Outlook user for nearly 25 years. I am liking it - especially the ability to customize the look and feel. That said, it's not for the faint at heart (my dad would not look kindy on the method of customizations).

So, I have been able to update the userChrome.css file to allow for my own flavor of my inbox (simply put -changes the font sizes, and font colors for unread mail, etc.).

Now, I am closing in on level 2 completion which requires me to "unbold" the 'account name" folder/entry in the Folder Pane. It's dominating my view (and my view is actually using the Favorites Add On and I have just my inboxes and a few Sent folders showing (15+ accounts listed). 98% of what I handle through my email relies on my inbox or my sent messages.

In the attached image, you can see three things: 1. Turquoise box 2. White Box 3. Multiple Yellow boxes

The white box is operating and displaying as expected based on my userChrome.css file. Correct font weight. Correct font color. Correct font size.

The 4 yellow boxes are not what I want They are bold and it's misleading from a distance (even with the red for unread mail). I don't want the account address folder (not sure what to call that) bold. I want it normal (and actually, I want it normal and italicized).

Turquoise Box: this is being picked up from the css file. When the account has new mail, it's Blue. The inbox will be red and box (whether new or just unread). If it gets moved to a different non-inbox subfolder, it stays bold, but reverts to white.

I welcome anyone to point me to any CSS that may refer to this 'thing" (whatever the items in the colored boxes are referred to as in the Thunderbird world...I'm still learning). I do appreciate it if you take the time to show me (pictures are amazing), but also appreciate that it takes time.

I can try and expand if you need more information on what I am trying to achieve.

Here is my userChrome sample (added in some explanations even though it's very basic) /* ########################################################################## */

/* Do not remove the @namespace line -- it's required for correct functioning */

/* ########################################################################## */ @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");

/* I started with this section first when I began formatting the folder pane */ /* ######################################################################### */

       /* Make all the default font sizes eg:14 px: */
       /* { font-size: 24pt !important; }  */

       }
       /* change Account main page title font style */
       /* =========================================================================== */
       /* Right now, this section is NOT doing what I want */
       /*
           This is the formatting for the page when you click an account name in the
           folder pane that ends up showing in the Contents Pane

/* I then found additional CSS examples and filtered out what I didn't need */ /* ######################################################################## */

           color: red !important;
           } */

/* I fear this section below may be contradicting the above */

/* this secion tells me the style for folders that have new/unread mail and I haven't even clicked on the folder yet */

  1. folderTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, closed, newMessages-true, selected),
  2. folderTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, newMessages-true, selected),
  3. folderTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, specialFolder-Inbox, newMessages-true, selected) {
 font-weight: bold !important;
 color: #79C0F4 !important;
 font-style: italic !important;

}

/* this secion tells me the style for all inbox type folders that have new/unread mail */

  1. folderTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, closed, newMessages-true),
  2. folderTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(folderNameCol, newMessages-true),

Hi, I am using 78.9.0 and would like the Attachments Panel turned on by default. I notice there are various fixes for this over the years for various versions but non it seems work with this version.

I have tried the .css method. I have tried the about: method.

Any ideas?

It just seems very counter-untuitive that the panel is off by default and user are to drag and drop attachments onto the entry area on the form! Per Outlook and the ability to drag onto the main message area would be a fair alternative, but I'd rather have the panel visible at all times.

I have long been an enthusiastic user of thunderbird with "virtual identity". I kept Thunderbird 68 until few days ago. I had the stupid idea of updating and now I am in trouble. Many of the virtual identity features are not yet present in Thunderbird 78.

For those who like me use tons of aliases (to avoid SPAM), virtual identity is indispensable especially in the functionality of automatically choosing the sender according to the recipient. Will it ever be possible to have this function in the core?

Another very useful extension allowed me to choose the smtp server. Thunderbird now allows you to choose an email address with "From ...", but I cannot choose the SMTP configuration to use. When can it will be integrate in the core of Thunderbird?

It's possible to downgrade from T78 to T68 again? What happens with openpgp configuration?

TNX in advance. Ilic

I tried to find a tutorial with no luck.

Is there a size limit?

Anything else I should know?

I am not currently able to effectively and consistently manage background and text colours across the different views within Thunderbird.

  • My inbox appears to pick up the OS theme colours, and presents with a dark grey background and light grey text. This is not terribly problematic, but it does not seem to respond to any settings changes within Thunderbird.
  • When I open a message, it currently has a white background and generally dark text. Some text, dates and times for example, appear light grey. I have been able to alter the general colour profile of this reader view, but not all text is affected and if a dark background is set some text will remain dark and be unreadable.
  • Composition windows currently have a dark background and white text. If I am replying to a message, frequently the text of previous messages in the thread is indistinguishable from the background. I can uncheck "Use reader's default colors" and apply explicit values for background and text, but certain text will remain grey regardless of my selections. Additionally, some of my reading seems to imply that these values will be encoded in the html of my messages, which may adversely affect readability for recipients.

From what I can gather searching around online, my experience is not typical. I have spent many hours trying to understand how all of the different colour settings work and interact, and I am not getting anywhere. I've been through every part of Thunderbird's settings looking for the right options to no avail. I accept that it is entirely possible I have overlooked or misunderstood something that may be making this harder than it should be.

Ultimately, I would prefer to have all panes rendered with a consistent dark grey background and light grey text, and I would like to be able to send plain-text messages without html encoded colours. Please let me know if this is not an achievable goal in Thunderbird.

Good day, There !

Just began to utilize Thunderbird : many excellent aspects ! I'm very grateful to original Giver and Any of you "following".

But : my FIRST need about having such technical help is

to save messages though without getting to full-up of the webmail account

( an address which is small-room-for-free, and I can't extend it or get a payed larger one since don't possess any money account WHEREVER ) : how can I remove, cancel, either the single message AND A FULL FOLDER on the webmail site ONLY ? . . . how can I keep solely the recorded message offline ? . . . the file or folder which exists on Thunderbird = pc's hard-disc only ?

Thank you for your altruistic time of help ( I give this "direction" of time in other fields, by full physical person ; and should/would you need any information, words-help, about "Natural growing and eating food, Sustainable land-cares, Principles of universal truth", and want to "reap" for this first-giving of yours you're offering "here", don't hesitate to email me ).

Hi, I've just downloaded Thunderbird on MacOS Catalina. I have added two separate email accounts. I want to be able to see all email in one inbox (not a unified inbox which still sorts into two separate sub-inboxes). I have checked under Account Settings>Server Settings. There is no advanced option under Message Storage which is where I have read the enable global inbox option should be listed.

Can anyone assist? Thank you, Kirsty

Dear fellow users of Thunderbird,

Although it is a quite old function in Thunderbird, I just discovered the Chat function. On first side of using it and after looking through the forum and help articles, I have some questions:

1) Is it correct that Thunderbird loads only the conversations that are new and active? 2) Are there plans to turn this into a full XMPP chat app? 3) Are there plans to add to chat as well over the IMAP, Like Delta does? 4) Are there plans to update the chat info to more recent version with extended functions?

Hello guys,

maybe its just obvious and I am unable to point it down to the right keywords for my google research but I could not find this feature:

I want to create several "calendar views", each containing a set of relevant calendars for the specific view.

Example: I have 4 calendars:

1.Work 2.Wife's Work 3.Private 4.Soccer

Now, what I want to do is to create profiles, to show a only one or a combination of these calendars. e.g:

Profile: "work only" Showing Calendars: 1. Work 2.Wife's Work

Hidden Calendars: 3. Private 4. Soccer

Profile: "spare time" Showing Calendars: 3. Private 4. Soccer

Hidden Calendars: 1. Work 2.Wife's Work

As you can imagine it gets even more useful the more calendars you have... Is there any feature for this? How can I achieve this?

Thank you very much
