I just installed Thunderbird on an up to date Windows 11 PC and unchecked the box Automatically mark messages as read, but it keeps marking all of my messages as read.

Help please!

Have 3 gmail accounts 1 icloud account all are appearing and working, but can't get unified inbox to display anything even though there are emails in all accounts.

I right clicked unified inbox properties and selected all 4 accounts and clicked ok then update. In box shows 0 email. I did shutdown and restart computer????

I am currently using Thunderbird 140.6.0esr (64-bit). Operating system is Windows10, my computer doesn't meet Windows11 requirements.

I use Thunderbird to receive messages from both my Orange.fr and Gmail.com accounts. I use the Message Filters tool on both accounts to sort the incoming messages into different folders to make it easier to follow threads. I have Thunderbird running in the background all the time that my computer is active.

The Thunderbird Icon on the taskbar is set to show new messages. It used to show the total of all incoming messages, but now (I think just since the latest update) it only shows those new messages that have remained in the main inbox of either account, any messages that have been sorted into sub-folders are not included in the number shown on the icon. This means that when I have been away from the computer leaving Thunderbird running I now have to enter Thunderbird to see if any new messages have been sorted rather than just glancing at the taskbar.

What setting have I missed or is this a "bug".

More an annoyance than big issue. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

Is there a way to auto config Thunderbird in a local domain so it takes mail (and maybe password from some field) as well as server details? Should I use .cfg or policies.json files? Info I found is quite old on that subject.

Some questions from a beginner: 1 How do you change the line spacing when writing an email. It is quite large now. 2 What is the fastest way to get back to your inbox wherever you are 3 How do you make TB always open with the inbox on startup 4 What is the function of the scrolling text at the top? Does someone know the CSS code that would change the inner color and the border color of the star in the message header toolbar? Please see my screen image. And which file the code belongs in?

Or another method to change the colors?

I am getting emails with website links which are not clickable once downloaded to Thunderbird. The help page I found said I need to make sure Thunderbird is set up for the correct default browser (I use Chrome). But when I open settings in my Thunderbird app on the laptop, there is NO PROVISION for setting a default browser!!! I have tried searching settings, but nothing comes up for the word "browser". Am I missing something?????

For some time the feature to use color in text has not worked. I deleted and re-installed Thunderbird but no change. I cannot change the font color when typing an email, and making changes in the settings has no effect, either.

I have my "signature" saved as an HTML in color, and it also will only display in black.

Any articles and solutions posted seem to be for people using Macs or some other kind of computer. I have Windows 11 for a Lenovo Idea Pad 5. Thank you in advance for any and all guidance you can offer.

I need help with two items of thunderbird program. 1. I have a new iMac desktop OE Tahoe version 26.1 I tried to figure out how to use my thunderbird program to be just like the one in my older iMac version Tahoe 26.1. I found info in your forum. When I followed the info it was as simple as never before…which kind of concerned me. In the instructions for setting up thunderbird into the new iMac, it said to log into my acct using my email address. That worked & it asked if I wanted to open a new acct or the existing one. I used the existing one & it walked me through the pop & stmp setup. When it opened up, all the existing emails were on the new iMac. Super easy. But now I don’t know how to make thunderbird in the new iMac to look like the old one with large font like in thunderbird 140.4 version. Can you help me with step by step info? 2. In using thunderbird on the new iMac, will the emails still be accessible in the old iMac? Am I making sense or do you need something else from me? Happy new year! For some time now I have had a lot of problem with fonts when creating messages. Medium size displays as large primarily [using Calibri primarily] in the sent message but Small on my screen. I admit to having played with some heavyweight html messaging which could be the cause [it ultimately did not work].

If the quick solution is to reinstall t’bird - no problem! Thanks for the help . . . BILL

Dear Sirs' Happy New Year I have a problem that I have had no luck in resolving via the Thunderbird Help option. My problem is that recently I have been unable to receive any images on all my mail which I receive within my Inbox. I have chcked the mail within Thunderbirds Server (ie BT), and all the images do appear on all the mail at this source. I would be most grateful if you could please help me in this matter. When I single click on email or delete email I sometimes get a double click response. Meaning I want to delete one email in the subject line and single click the delete button it will delete two messages. This is not just one computer this is happing on. I am using on all my computers Logitech trackball mice M570. I tried trouble shoot mode and it still dose it. Thank you Bret

Thunderbird is not saving IMAP message bodies to my home computer.

My settings: - Keep messages in all folders on this computer is checked. Under "Advanced" all the folders are checked for download. - Synchronize all messages locally regardless of age is on.

If a message has some significant graphics there is a fairly long delay before the body is shown. I know that this is a characteristic of IMAP. But if I close Thuderbird and return to it later, the same message will again have the download delay. Clearly it is not being stored on my computer.

Any help will be appreciated.

Somewhere over the past few updates, one virtual folder names have been overwritten with the one above in the list. See the attached image of the local damage. One multiple (but not all) machines, the spam and bulk virtual folders have been renamed to spam. This has occurred on both my gmail and Yahoo accounts. I am unable to simply rename them, as it fails on the remote rename to the already-existing name. The problem is the local title, not the remote one. I need to recover from this by re-reading the provider folder names and correcting the damaged ones locally. How do I do this?

I use the "move to" function to move emails from my Inbox to various other folders. I use the function on a daily basis. Since the last update, when I click on "Move to", the Recent list is no longer alphabetized. This is very frustrating. When will the alphabetization be returned?

I am running Thunderbird 140.4.0esr (64-bit) on an iMac running macOS Sonoma 14.7.4. I have two email accounts on it, one my university account and one gmail. I have over 500 Local Folders used to keep track of my personal matters, correspondence and tax preparation matters. In the past three or four weeks, during which I updated my Tbird at least once, the Local Folders have become no longer alphabetized and at least one folder I can no longer find. I appears that the most recently used folders are moved to an alphabetized set at the end of my original set. It also appears that the list of folders differs slightly depending on which account from which the list is viewed. Why is this happening and how can I solve it?
