I have seen this problem posted several times without a solution and having fixed it, I am making the effort to let all know the answer.

Here is the error / problem: "The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server pop-server.woh.rr.com responded: no such message."

I had this happen some time ago on another pop on RR mail server and logging in via Web Mail and deleting the emails worked BUT.. It happened again on another pop account and it did not work.. So... I nuked the pop via the master account and re-added it.. nothing so, I ran check disk thinking a FAT corruption NOPE, I restored a MOZBACK of Thunderbird from like a month ago Ziltch.. I called useless RR support and nothing!

FINALLY *Scratching Head*.. In there change your Junk mail options to "delete the email". I had one junk email stuck in there and after refreshing that page..That one Junk Email was gone and THEN Thunderbird worked checking that pop..

WAHLAH!

I hate when the simplest of things do not work and it pissed me off nobody had the answer.. HERE YOU ALL GO!

It 100% fails to reply to any email and any forwarded email. The only way I can respond is by cutting and pasting the whole email series into a new email - then send. This is 100% repeatable and started when I upgraded to 68 which I wish I had never done!

Lately, and with increasing frequency, Thunderbird fails to retrieve mail from the outlook.com server.

It's been operating reliably for a year but this morning again I saw these were left on the server, couldn't be retrieved, and I had to forward them to myself to get them. Please advise.

This was never an issue but the last 3 months all emails from a particular sending keep getting sent to spam. I have added the sender to my contact list. I keep marking the emails as "not junk" while they're in the spam folder and they get moved into the "inbox" but the next one that comes in goes straight to spam. What else can I do to get them to stop going into spam? I would think that after 3 months the adaptive system would have learned to adapt.

Hi,

I use Thunderbird on one job and one private desktop PC for the same Zimbra E Mail Account. A week ago I deleted a spam mail with one Thunderbird instance and removed it then from the trash folder too. Then it came back in the spam folder, also in the other Thunderbird instance. In the Zimbra Web front end of my account it is gone from both the spam and trash folders. With one Thunderbird I deleted it a second time, and it came back again. Now I see it in both Thinderbird instances in both spam and trash folders but not in the Zimbra Web front end. But what I see, is incomplete. Only a time (which changes to the actual time after each restart) and an unread mark is shown, no subject, no sender and no text. Sometimes it disappears when leaving and reentering the folders, but comes back after restart. I tried the msf repair funktion, but also this didn't help. Is there any chance to get rid of this mail garbage? Please help!

I am so incredibly disappointed with thunderbird, long such an excellent email program. WHY did you make it so difficult to load previous profiles? I have read and tried several methods to get old profiles working again, but so far no success. WHY not make an easier way to import them? Over a decade of saved messages, from all relatives, all passwords/logins (I would email myself) and many saved articles and jokes. I am so disappointed they have not made this easier (if indeed it is possible, as yet no article I have followed has worked). So disappointed.

Hi, I regularly use the starred message facility to highlight messages. Just today, the stars have disappeared from starred items. So the unstarred items have a feint star as before - the starred items have nothing. See attached image: The Avio message is starred and was showing a yellow star yesterday. The other 3 items (showing a feint star, as before) are not starred. How do I sort this? I have not done any configuration etc since yesterday, when it was all working fine.

HI, I have recently bought a new computer and as part of the changes I have decided to ditch my previous Microsoft packages as I do not wish to pay for Office 365.

Part of this change has meant exporting my emails and Calendar from my long serving Outlook 2007 and I have decided to use Mozilla Thunderbird for both of these functions.

The emails section is now working ok but I am having issues with both Calendar and Contacts.

I followed guidance for exporting the Calendar from Outlook 2007 and importing it to Thunderbird. The individual Diary/Events do appear in Thunderbird but there are no details included in the entry. The Event simply has the start and end time and the title "Busy".

I am not sure whether my error is in the exporting from Outlook 2007, the importing to Thunderbird or something else?

Hopefully you can give me some guidance to resolve as I really need my diary to function effectively. Thanks

Hello,

Recently migrated to new Mac laptop (MacOS 10.15.2). Installed latest Thunderbird (68.9.0).

Sometimes Thunderbird hangs, and I need to restart. On restart, it asks for account name, rebuilds folders, and creates new (empty) address books.

Related question. Should I delete all the xxxxxxx.default-release-x folders except the latest one?

Hi everyone !

I didn't see no articles about this, and I don't even know if it's possible... Maybe in the config core.

I have to deal with lot of emails adresses, on different distant servers, and some are slower than others. I'd like to automatically check the fastest ones in first (at least at the opening of TB). I thought reordering the different accout by server (account4, account6, etc.) would do the job, but it doesn't seem to work like this.

Do someone have an idea about this ? (Difficult problem I think).

Thank you, and sorry for my awfull english... I'm french.

This is on a win 7 64bit computer. using thunderbird 32 bit, current version, 68.6, for some reason I don't know. I have two primary mailbox trees, a work and a personal. The work email inbox is blank, but all messages are there, and can be seen in the message window when highlighted. The column titles above the message list are also blank. if I switch to the draft folder, or sent, junk or trash, the column titles then message in this boxes can be seen in the list. I tried compacting then repairing to no effect. 1243 messages are in this inbox, and it is only 292 MB in size. Any clue about how I can see the messages?

Background: I have been a user of Thunderbird for many years, starting before it became open-source. I have been on Windows 10 since it first came out.

1. I have turned off everything I can find in T-bird that might designate a message as junk, but still many messages that are OBVIOUSLY not junk are immediately placed in the junk folder. For example: messages from my wife, some of my own messges, messages from businesses (even my bank) that I have daily interaxtions with. Thus, every session with T-bird I must first go to the junk folder and evaluate each "new" so-called junk message and mark most of them as non-junk. Then I go back to the input folder, run my filters (none of which will call any of these questionable messages "junk",) and find that several of them have been put back in the junk folder. I "un-junk" them again, and then go to the inbox, where I must run each individual filter to place each such message in the appropriate folder. This is a tremendous waste of time, and it never happened until the last few months.

The filter at the top of my filter list (the first one to be run) is supposed to mark ALL incoming messages as "non-junk," but that does not seem to help.

2. With one of the recent "updates" it became impossible to scroll, minimize, maximize, or shrink the contents of any filter while editing it. I have ten filters that have many more specs in them than can fit on one screen. The "edit" window for a filter looks like a standard Windows window, with an X in the upper right corner to clode it, but without the icons for shrinking, maximizing, or minimizing the window, and no scroll bar to permit scrolling through the filter's conditions. That means that a filter now is limited to about a dozen conditions, and there is no way I can make changes to those ten large filters (I cannot get down to the "Save" or "Exit" buttons. This limit is not mentioned in any documentation that I can find.

3. In just the last couple of days while running my filters I have been getting warnings that "The --- folder cannot be found, so messages cannot be moved to it." In every case, I have had no difficulty finding the folder mentioned, and every filter referring to it has it listed correctly.

4. Very recently, whenever I start Thunderbird, and sometimes when I delete a message, I get an annoying message offering to remove all deleted messages from my hard drive automatically whenever one is deleted. The only choices are "Yes" and "No." I do NOT want Thunderbird to delete messages, because I cannot trust Thunderbird to determine junk messages in any rational way. THERE SHOULD BE AN OPTION TO TURN OFF THAT ANNOYING MESSAGE PERMANENTLY.

5. A minor annoyance is the recent unnanounced change in the way a new message is addressed. Once I accidentally stumbled on how the new systemt worked, I could deal with it. However, any change in the way a user interface is to be used should be accompanied by a brief note to all users about how to use the new interface. I should NOT have to read all the tedious detail in the change log every couple of days to find out what new trick you have decided to play. I don't see ANY advantage to the one-line for addresses over the old multi-line address procedure.

I have gotten to the point where I am for the first time ever starting to look at alternatives to Thunderbird. I will try to stay with Thunderbird for a few more months to see if you can fix some of these issues. Migrating to another email client is surely going to be a significant challenge, but I am getting close to the point of needing to.

Sincerely, Eric Myrvaagnes
