hi,

Currently Thunderbird supports vertical layout. But the problem with it the thread has columns which takes quite some space.

There is one more efficient vertical laoyout nowdays used in many email clients (e.g. Geary). (See screenshot attached). Sort of a "stacked vertical" where each thread stacks the info (subject, from, date, etc) within the thread without columns quite nicely which saves lots of space for the message pane.

Does anybody know if there's an add-on for this ?

(I've searched it but couldn't find in the store)

Or otherwise maybe somebody can guide my how to develop such a layout myself ?

Thanks

Thunderbird 91.7, migrated from another pc. When open software (and receive mail) or try to send mail, always asks if I want to save password, I always click yes.

Not only does password not save, but clicking yes does not let Thunderbird use the password I have inserted to receive or send mail. So to do so, I insert password without clicking to save password.

Password list is blank.

I saw suggestions on deleting key3.db and/or checking permissions on key4.db, cert9.db, session.json and the pkcs11.txt files, but the permissions are ok on the first 3, and the last file (for Mac only?) I do not have.

But I found that by doing a "safe" opening of Thunderbird using restart done by Help/Troubleshooting Information, without addons, tool bar(s) and control(s), I am able to use the save password box and find the saved passwords in the password list. Only problem is that when I restart program with all addons, tool bars and controls, goes back to original problem. So it seems to be something in one of these addons, tool bar(s) and/or control(s) that is blocking use of the password list (and save password function), because the passwords are still found when I do another "safe" restart.

Saw similar problem in question from mike337 in 2020, resolved by removing the pkcs11.txt file, but I have no such file.

Any ideas what is blocking things?

Thanks

Hopefully I selected the best category for this. It was either this one or Other.

Some emails I receive have no visible content, except for an HTML attachment. If I do not known for sure it is a legitimate email, that would make me very suspicious, and I might think it is a virus attempt or such when in fact it is not.

For example, today I received an order confirmation for purchasing the EyeQue device. It came as an attachment. If I open Postbox (which was built from earlier Thunderbird code, as I understand it), the message displays properly as a normal email. Yet, with Thunderbird, I have the attachment.

What can I do?

Since Dorando keyconfig :: Add-ons for Thunderbird does not work anymore I could not find a away to change the shortcut for "Paste as quotation" from the default "Ctrl + Shift + O" to "Ctrl+Shift+V". (For more shotcuts see Keyboard shortcuts - perform common Thunderbird tasks quickly). tbkeys-lite has been recommended as alternative (also on Mozilla Support: How to turn off or change the keyboard shortcuts. But the above mentioned link can not be changed to the obvious and in other email clients used Ctrl+Shift+V with TBkeys as mentioned on the github-page: Defining a key sequence (meaning multiple keys in succession) where the first key combination in the sequence is the same as a built-in shortcut (like ctrl+j ctrl+k) is not supported. Can anybody help me solve this dilemma? This would be great as I use the command many times a day.

The thread pane for ONE sub-folder is all white, including the column headers. All the other folders and sub folders, including the inbox, display correctly in the thread pane, displaying black text on a white background. I can click on each message and the message displays in the preview pane below correctly. The folder pane itself is fine.

I'm running TB 91.7.0 on Windows 10 21H2.

I have tried Safe mode (troubleshooting mode) include resetting headers and controls - same issue. I have attached a screen shot of what that one folder looks like.

Any suggestions on how to get this one sub-folder to display correctly?

Thank you.

Running TB 91.7.0 on Win10 Home Dell laptop. Between the wife and I, we have several IMAP email accounts on our separate computers. The laptop is mine and it is the one that we take when travelling, so it has ALL of the email accounts setup in Thunderbird. When the accounts were POP, I could configure her accounts to not normally download on the laptop except on demand. Is there a way to setup the IMAP accounts so that only my accounts download based on the timeframe settings on the Server Settings tab and that the wife's accounts would only be downloaded/synced when Get All New Messages is clicked? Or any other way would be fine also, I'm not too picky, just don't need to see her emails when not travelling. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have 5 email accounts set up in Thunderbird; 4 accounts are at the same email provider. Two of my email account names are similar ("wayne" and "waynec") and are at the same email provider.

I just noticed that the outgoing server for each of those similar names (outgoing servers entered as "wayne@jagsnvettes.com" and "waynec@jagsnvettes.com", respectively) are being automatically altered by Thunderbird in the Account Settings Outgoing Server (SMTP) to be the same server:

    "wayne@jagsnvettes.com - smtppro.zoho.com (default)".

The outgoing servers for the two other email accounts at that same provider remain as I coded them.

Not a serious problem, as it appears the messages are sent regardless, and the outgoing server could probably be the same for ALL my email accounts, but if I code them all differently, why would Thunderbird make that change for only one account?

Hi, I am using thunderbird on 2 computers (windows+Mac) so i need to have the old mail folders, stored as local folders, accessible on both. I am using google drive for syncing them since today, on my Mac (will check the PC tomorrow only) the mail folders stored under the local folders have "disappeared" under the folder tree (left side menue in TB), only the header folder (local folder) is still there, the properties of this folder point to the correct folder in google drive, google drive is working and shows me all my folders when opening in Finder, but when I access this folder from TB (choosing properties of the local Folders icon) the folder seems to be empty. I tried to cancel different files from the profile following tips found in the help forum here, but nothing worked. any other idea using TB 91.7.0, with MacOS 12.2.1 thanks a lot for any help

About half of the email I receive every day is questioned by T-Bird as junk. I have turned off the junk mail settings altogether at the account level and the global level, Nothing works to stop it.

(Nothing is set at the email server level to filter for junk.)

I do not want T-bird to try and filter ANYTHING. I want it to just leave all email messages as received in the inbox, unquestioned, unmarked. period.

Even email from senders with just text in the message for which I have already marked a previous messages as NOT junk gets questioned as junk by T-Bird.

Please help, as this is most annoying and distracting.

Thanks a lot.

Thunderbird 91.6.2, MacOS 12.2.1

At least since the 9x.x.x releases, and maybe earlier, Thunderbird's folder pane displays some folders using document-like icons instead of folders. Also, with Favourite Folders and Compact View enabled, these document-like icons appear near the top of the list, just under Inbox, instead of being alphanumerically sorted like regular folders.

Here are two screenshots contrasting the document-like icons with the regular folder icons. As far as I can tell there is nothing in preferences or account settings that would account for the difference.

I'd like all folders to use folder icons, and to use alphanumeric sorting in all cases. How to achieve that?

Thanks in advance.

Something happened the other night - what, I'm not sure - and all of a sudden I couldn't see any info in the message pane for the Inbox of one of my email accounts. All the info showed in the message pane for all the other folders in both email accounts.

I've gotten most of the info back in the message pane for that inbox by selecting which columns to display. The only column I am missing is the column for the email Subject. The "Select which columns to display" list doesn't include the Subject option.

How can I get the Subject column back?

I'd like to be able to customise the background colour of a single column in the messages list, such that I can colour code emails that have been received from different accounts. Is this possible?

I've currently been able to colour code the whole row based on a tag that I apply for each account using the following code in the userChrome.css file:

/*Outlook*/
#threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-row(Toutlook){
  background-color: #157cc4  !important;
}
#threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(Toutlook){
  color: white !important;
}
#threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-row(Toutlook, selected){
  background-color: #E07D52 !important;
}
#threadTree > treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(Toutlook, selected){
  color: #157cc4 !important;
}

and similar for all the other tags..

Is there any way to customise this further to only apply to one column in the list (e.g. the Account column) rather than colouring the whole row?
