In last 24 hours or less I upgraded to 91.11.0 and now I have 102! Question is will Thunderbird 102 support TLS 1.2 or higher when used with Ionos. And why am not able to sync all emails in sub folders in my account with Ionos. I know it is a Ionos question but they have not yet answered my question.

I have been using Thunderbird for 25 years now. I downloaded latest version this afternoon but have no clue how long it has been available or what version I had prior to downloading 91.11.0 I use imap.ionos.com and smtp.ionos.com for a really long time. Problem is I had a lot of subfolders with many emails in each one I can see on my ionos.com log into site using Firefox but not anymore with Thunderbird 91.11.0 and current version of Firefox. There are only like 5 usual folders of I received an email from ionos yesterday saying.

Below is from Ionos to me and my email account.

"One or more of your devices or email programs are currently accessing our email servers unencrypted or using the TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 encryption protocols. This includes connections using SMTP (for sending emails) and/or POP3/IMAP (for receiving emails). Both unencrypted access and connections using the outdated TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 encryption protocols no longer meet current security standards. To protect your email communications, these connections to our email servers will no longer be possible as of 08/09/2022. What does this mean for you? The following email accounts were accessed without encryption: my email address is here *****@*******.com I block letters and numbers. Please make sure that encryption (SSL/TLS) is enabled in your devices or programs. We have summarized how to adjust the settings for some popular email programs in the IONOS Help Center. The following email accounts were accessed with TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1:

            • @********.com

For email connections between your devices or programs and our email servers to continue working after deactivation, they must support TLS 1.2 or higher."

I really like Thunderbird. Please tell me what is wrong and how to fix. And I called Ionos.com and they could not help with Thunderbird or with TLS 1.2 or higher. Please

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04. Would update to latest Ubuntu LTS but our internet is really slow and it's capped. Thunderbird version 91.9.1. I use TB to retrieve/send emails from two Gmail accounts. Both are set up as POP. This morning TB failed to get email from the second email account. First error message is "Sending of password for user XXX did not succeed. Mail server pop.googlemail.com responded: Username and password not accepted." I clicked OK, got second message. "Login to server pop.googlemail.com with username XXX not accepted."

Fortunately our main email account is still working.

Looking at Password Mgr in TB, I have 5 entries. There are two "mailbox://pop.gmail" entries, one for each email account. There are two "smtp://smtp.googlemail.com" entries, again one for each email account. There's one "oauth://accounts.google.com entry. This one has an extremely long password. 40 or 50 characters?

I read some stuff about OAuth but it's confusing. Read some instructions for tweaking TB to use OAuth but I don't want to break one or both accounts!

Why do I get error messages that says "Your network settings prevent content from being loaded privately" ONLY on my iPad but not on my iPhone or laptop?

I don't recall doing anything different on my iPad than the other devices.

It appears a update added encryption to attachments since they all start with OpenPGP and end with a .acs extension. I found it very cumbersome to use as many people I deal with do not use this type of security. I opened Tools\OpenPGP Key Manager and deselected it. I hope this has turned it off but am not sure. Also, during the time PGP was active, I sent & rec'd emails with attachments and it appears I cannot open them. I want to get rid of the .asc files and get my attachmeents back!

I have not been able to receive emails on my TB account for several days although I can get them from Talktalk Webmail. In order to try and solve the problem I have changed the passwords on both incoming and outgoing imap accounts but to no avail, although I can still get emails through my other gmail address. I have tried in safemode etc etc but still no solution. Please help and thank you in advance

Hi

I am having an issue with Thunderbird automatically sending a read receipt response email to the original sender when I open an email which has the tracking feature activated.

I have already tried changing the Return Receipts for both the account and global settings to Never Send and to Ask Me but both options just send the response.

I have also confirmed that my Exchange Online Admin portal has the Read Response set to Never Send but get the same result of the receipt email being sent if I open the email.

I have an eIDAS compliant certificate with a Qualified Electronic Signature on a Gemalto PKCS #11 compatible device which is issued by Microsec Ltd. (it is among the accepted CAs of Thunderbird). There are 2 other certs next to this one on the device which is issued by the same CA and can be seen by Thunderbird.

I can select (after unlocking the device of course) the signing certificate but it tells: Certificate Manager can't locate a valid certificate that other people can use to send you encrypted email messages to the address: <MY@EMAIL.ADDRESS>

I thought it should be OK because I would like to sign the e-mails but not necessarily would like an encrypted response (it is a nice to have for me as I would like to sign e-mails because of the legal binding nature of eIDAS QES signatures).

These type of devices do not support exporting the private key as a PKCS #12 file (at least not for consumers - maybe the CA could export it as they probably know the password necessary to do that).

When I try to send an e-mail with S/MIME signature then an error appears and e-mail cannot be sent.

I changed my email address to a gmail address a year ago, but I still use the Mozilla Support. Mozilla Support will let you change your password on your profile, but NOT your email address. I have tried unsuccessfully to advise them of my new email address and ask that they change it at their end, but nothing ever came of it. I never got any response. What do people advise me to do in this case?

I've just set up OpenPGP in Thunderbird 91.10.0, Windows 10, to receive Facebook notification emails encrypted. Facebook supports this, and I've just received an email from them which Thunderbird decrypted correctly and showed. The OpenPGP button shows above the email. But the email content shows as the plain text code of an HTML document. If I save the text into a file, give it an .html extension and open it in Firefox, it displays perfectly just like my unencrypted FB emails normally arrive. How can I get Thunderbird to display decrypted HTML emails in their HTML visual format? I've not used encryption before, but I couldn't find any relevant settings or preferences to change.

My Yahoo mail on Thunderbird does not sync emails anymore. I constantly need to reauthorize my Yahoo mail in order to get it going, which is odd. This happened after I changed password and I have removed the account from TB, re-done the account and used the new password to no avail. My saved password shows the correct password. What should I do for this to work?

I use v102.0b5 (64-bit) on Mac OS 10.14.6 with a main password to protected my mail account passwords.

When I start Thunderbird, I have to enter my main password. Problem: The little window pops up several times even while I am already typing my main password. So I have to wait a bit until Thunderbird "calms down" and re-enter the password. But even after pressing enter, it may pop up again, but usually Thunderbaird has indeed received my password and the access to my mail accounts work fine.

This should be really fixed as soon as possible because it is very annoying.

I tried to make a new profile. Then it worked, but only until next update (102.0.1).

This happend also after update to 102.0.2 and 102.0.3. :(

Now I tried to copy a not working profile folder from mounted NAS-drive to local drive. -> Profile on mounted device is working only in safe-mode -> Profile on local device is working well in normal mode

For me it looks like, TB is not able to read (decrypt?) stored PW from mounted devices in normal mode. (But it works well in safe-mode).

- Win10 - no addons

I changed my gmail password. I changed it in Thunderbird too. Now I cannot send or receive emails from that account on my laptop but it works on my phone. Something in Thunderbird is not set right. Gmail keeps saying username or password is not right. I am not computer savvy-(grandmother) any help will be greatly appreciated.

From few days, maybe 10, the password is no longer accepted by the server 'imapmail.libero.it'. But when I go to the web site and open my email account I have no problems. I am lost here, can't get no hints, no signs that something has changed; when I reintroduce my account details, Thunderbird is able to find the server 'libero.it' all by itself, and I have checked on libero.it site, the procedure to open an email client with Thunderbird, nothing seems changed. I repeat: from one day to the next, apparently the server stopped accepting my password through Thunderbird, but it still accept it when I log in directly on the site. I hope somebody is able to find out what is happening here. Thank you in advance anyway for your time. I can add only that I have another email account, with Yahoo, and this one is still working without problems: Thunderbird is able to open it without any trouble. I use Linux Xubuntu 20.04 lts; just updated Thunderbird this very morning, as normal with automatic updates, no change: the password is apparently refused by the server libero.it.
