I have two Mac systems, an M1 MacBook Pro and a 2018 Mac Mini, both systems are running Sonoma 14.6.1. Last week I had to reinstall MacOS Sonoma on my Mac Mini (2018). After installing Thunderbird I noticed a difference between the two systems. I’ve always had the single line email listing as in the screenshot MBP, but now the Mini has a two line email listing as in the screenshot Mac Mini. How do I get back to the single line listing?

Is there an option to set multiple event reminders for a single event in the calendar? If i set up or edit an event using my phone app I can choose to have multiple remiders for the same event (e.g. set a remider to 30 mins before the event and 24 hours before), and Thunderbird remembers and reminds me of both (altough only showing one of them when looking at the event in the calendar). However i haven't found any option within Thunderbird to set multiple event reminders, I also looked for extensions for this functionality but haven't found any that appear to address this.

Platform is Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon Thunderbird 115.16.0esr (64-bit) I must have caused this problem while making a mistake while adding a google gmail takeout file to local folders.
Now account settings shows Local Folders / Local Directory as:
/home/xyz/Downloads/Google Takeout/Takeout/Mail
In Local Folders the Outbox folder properties location shows:
mailbox:///home/xyz/Downloads/Google Takeout/Takeout/Mail/Unsent Messages
In another Linux system Thunderbird shows Local Folders / Local Directory as:
mailbox:///home/xyz/.thunderbird/g44es9f2.default-release/Mail/Local Folders/Unsent Messages
Which tells me basically where it should be pointing.
I tried to change (in account settings) Local Folders / Local Directory using the Browse... button but the Select Local Directory window doesn't give any access to the .thunderbird folder.
How can I change the account settings Local Folders / Local Directory back to what it should be?

As Someone who has an award for 508 Compliance, that is the US Federal requirement for accessibility to software. You should always keep it simple. The menu should always be at the top because that is what people use to decide to do.
The younger generation think a search bar is the starting point for finding things. You do not remember the desktop environment I grew up and still live in successfully today.
The main advantage if living on a desktop today is that is free of charge and I do not need to revise my hardware every 10 years let alone every couple of years because it still works and it is secure.
I have arranged my life so I do not have to move to dramatically reduce my carbon foot print. If you accept that environment desktops rule OK.
Also only having emails or events or tasks planning or finance on the screen gives you way more room to read things. I use two monitors because I have a lot to read. I choose what I want from a menu.
I use a search bar once I am on the right window
There should at least be an option to have the menu at the top.
It is the sort of decision that could loose you customers because it makes your product harder to use for those of us who grew up in a desktop environment not on a Web Page. And people who have to work in the US Federal Government.
In my web browser I always have the menu visible and at the top. Then the tabs then the URI editor The search bar is the third line down not at the top. Followed by the bookmarks toolbar then the web page.
Having the same format in every product would makes your products consistent and easier to transition between.
In the latest version of Thunderbird things have moved around for what to me seems zero benefit.
I would repeat an old maxim that has made me one of the more efficient programmers. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I am efficient because I spend most of my working out what not to change because it works. So actual hardly do anything.
One reason banks liked OS/2, was because it never needed rebooting. One bank had an OS/2 server running continuously for 10 years. When it eventually did break they had trouble finding it because no one had touched it for 10 years.
Enough ranting, thank you for what is otherwise a great product. Just be open to the fact that some of your customers would be happier if you just applied security updates and left the UI exactly the same as it was for the rest of time.
Having written utilities for Citrix Systems Inc. that ran exactly the same business logic running on 8 OS. It would be nice to have the same level of consistency in Thunderbird.
The issue with that goal is you structured your menus differently on Linux than Windows, so making things completely consistent would cause some unavoidable movement of items in the menu.

Hello, my grandfather uses Thunderbird and has trouble seeing when the text is too small, so I changed the font size in the settings, but this only applies to the window for reading the email and not to the entire application (example below, or on the right there is a font that my grandfather can read but in the titles of emails or menus he has trouble). Thanks in advance!

I have tried all the solutions posted here and on other sites to no avail. No matter which colors I use in the settings menu, Thunderbird always displays a reply message in dark grey text on a darker grey background. I have tried the system theme, the light theme, several dark themes but the result is always the same. If a hit reply to a message (which is usually HTML) the reply window shows dark grey text on a darker grey background. Has anyone found a solution to this ?
Thanks

There is more than one account set up in Thunderbird, for this problem, if I can solve it for two accounts I can likely get it working for the rest as well. Hotmail accounts/Outlook. All of the accounts receive e-mail no problems. The new Oauth2 is set up and working. But when attempting to SEND a message, every time I must manually edit the "account" to use to match whichever account I am sending from. It is crazy, setting the outgoing smtp server 'user name' to use logging in on the outgoing server, just uses the latest one it is set to.
Sometimes if I forget to change it a message will pop up that e-mail can't be sent from whatever the other login is. It is almost like it expects to have a master account that all of the other accounts send e-mail through.
Tried setting up a second 'identity' but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Why can't the outgoing user account be set for each account independently?

Hello Support.
Thunderbird V128, Win10 (64bit).
How do I add or change the columns to show me nicknames or other fields when Composing?
During write (composing) there is a contacts list on the left.
There is a button (for which no help pops up when hovering) that allows me to add the columns "address book" and/or "email address", but no other fields like nickname or phone number.
Thanks, Mark.

When I downloaded the Thunderbird app to my new laptop and opened it, it already had a fortnight's worth of recent messages in the Inbox, plus many of my Sent messages. However, the remainder of the Inbox, dating back to 2010, was not there, neither were my address books. Why didn't a clean copy of the app download so I can import my Profiles? In addition, my old laptop uses POP incoming, but the new laptop seems to be configured to IMAP. Is this a problem, and if so, which should I choose for the new laptop?

Hello there,
I am using Thunderbird 128.11.1esr on macOS Ventura 13.7.6 (OCLP) and would like to have all my accounts displayed in one unified inbox:
In the past all my accounts relied on pop3, but now of them changed to imap only, which now shows up like this:
Is there a way for me to have just one inbox folder? I set it up like this ages ago but can't recall which steps need to be taken to receive the desired view.
If I choose View > Folders > Unified folders I get this:

I have just had to delete one of my accounts, and reinstall it after I kept getting an error message. Doing this seems to have solved the error, but now that account sits at the bottom of the list of all of the emails, but it is one of the accounts I use most regularly and it would be more convenient if it were further up the list. I cannot seem to see a way of moving them anywhere?? In other programs it appears that you simply drag the email address up or down to relocate it? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
I want to configure my E-mail default reply signature to use English only. But I haven't found any options for it. Many sample only told me config it in "Account Settings" -> "Composition & Addressing" but there's no options to configure the content.
Specifically, I want to achieve when I reply an E-mail, the reply signature "On Fri, 2024... xxx@xxx.com wrote" always in English, even if I'm using zh-CN version Thunderbird.
Thank you.

My wife's computer has problems printing from Thunderbird. Trying to print produces a message that says, "Your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem. 0x800706ba".
I thought the problem was related to her old printer, a Brother black-and-white laser printer, so I bought a new Epson ET-2800 series color printer, but the same message appears.
I have found a workaround. If I go to Settings in Thunderbird, clear the cache, and restart the computer, it will print on the next try, but later the same error message will appear on attempts to print. I have selected the "Clear cache at shutdown" option in Settings, but that doesn't help. The cache still has to be cleared manually.
I can print a test page with no problem, and I can print from other applications, so I assume that the difficulty is related to something in Thunderbird.
I might add that I use Thunderbird on my computer. Fortunately that problem has not arisen on it.
Suggestions for solving this problem will be appreciated.
