System is win 11, latest TB, personal gmail account of long standing. I want to use TB as my email program for gmail. After installing TB, it asks for my gmail login and password, and recognizes the account, defaulting to IMAP, Oauth2, etc. When I press "done", I get a google screen saying that TB want authorization to access gmail files. But when I press "allow", the TB page shows an error message under the password field reading "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password." I understand it is looking for my gmail username and password, and these are correct. I have tried this many times, including with variations: removing and reinstalling TB, creating a pw just for TB in gmail (subsequently deleted). I have read all of the gmail installation help notes at Mozilla. Most relate to a 2022 change in gmail re Oauth2. Nothing helps. Any advice?

Hello, I'm having various problems with Win 11 and, before anyone says it, I can't run setup from the iso as a repair (this is one of the problem). So am finally thinking of biting the bullet and doing a clean instal. What I always find to be the biggest bedbug is setting up Thunderbird again, since I have about 6 accounts. Is there an easy way of making a copy of al the account settings to restore? Alternatively, do I simply copy back the profile(s)?

I have bought a new Mac Air and I want to get all the email address off of Thunderbird on my desktop and put them on Thunderbird on the laptop. I have had to move most of my files and items by Flash drive because when I migrated it the first time, I overloaded the laptop and had to start all over. So what file can I move from the library to get these on my new laptop?

I've used Tbird for 20 years. I keep my email files & such on a separate partition/drive from where Windows is. I recently had to reinstall Windows 11, which effectively uninstalled Tbird. I reinstalled and tried to get my profiles.ini to point to that previous profile so Tbird could see the 20 years' worth of saved emails as well as the ones from this year. I've tried several times and all failed. I've put the exact name & path of the profile I want in each location of profiles.ini with IsRelative=0, and told Tbird to use the name when it starts, but that has failed repeatedly. I had to uninstall/reinstall Tbird bc I'd managed to FUBAR profiles.ini Help?

The profile I want to use is E:\TbirdMail\ko07yqoy.slt

All of a sudden I get: Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account

and so I have no access to my local folders where I store all my emails. Any ideas what has happened? And more importantly how I get back to my email interface on launch. Thanks in advance

The hard drive on my PC running Windows 10 crashed and I have a new one running Windows 11. I used Thunderbird on the old PC and am trying to set up Thunderbird on the new PC. My email account is with AOL. When setting up Thunderbird on the new PC, it asks for the password. I am trying to use the AOL password but it does not work. The same password works on other devices. I have no access to the data on the old hard drive. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I am looking to understand whether there is a way to access my thunderbird emails from an old app used on a MacBook.

It hasn’t been accessed for some time, or updated, while the Mac OS has. Unsure what version this is but I can find out.

Is there a way for me to access the emails in the app by updating or some other way? Our email server also changed around that time I believe.

Thunderbird 115.0 on Linux/Debian is unable to verify and install addons from website. It just freezes when I try - and cannot even manually install addons that I download using Chrome. I even totally deleted all files and folders and reinstalled Thunderbird 115.0 from stratch... what happened?!

I found that after total removal - if I install a earlier version... that I can verify and install addons, but not with version 115.

I also found that I cannot import profiles from zip or even uncompressed folder. I confirmed the profile is less that 2 gig (1.2 gig) - so size of the profile should not be a problem.

I installed TB 115 portable to review it. I now have it all setup and configured to my liking. Now I want replace my installed v102 with the new portable ver. My plan is to upgrade to installed from 102 to 115.5.2 (same as portable). But what files/directories do I need to move to do this? I have the Installed ver on C: (Win10) and the portable on D: .

Road map please.

Thunderbird recently updated to ver. 115.6.0, after that it seemes that my configuration got lost: I cannot get contact to my mail at the provider. My settings are as stated by the provided as a pop3 account with the right settings. Worst of all is that my files used under the former version have gone lost, too. Is there any way to return to the former version of Thunderbird or is there another way to find my files? Regards Jens Madsen

Hi Folks, downloaded the new Thunderbird version 115.3.3 (64 bit) a few days ago. Since then I have not been able to get that version to download my emails from xfinity. I have updated xfinity to allow Third Party Downloads as identified in a prior search but nothing has worked yet. Thoughts? Thanks for any help you can provide!

moved thunderbird 115.6.1 from windows 7 to windows 10 and i can receive and forward new emails in win 10 but can not send new emails in windows 10. What do you think?’

I am trying to migrate from Mailspring to Thunderbird, yet have problems with adding my Google/Gmail accounts.

When I try to add a new account with my email and password, Thunderbird detects the IMAP details as follows: INCOMING SERVER Protocol: IMAP Hostname: imap.gmail.com Port: 993 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2 Username: <my email>

OUTGOING SERVER Hostname: smtp.gmail.com Port: 465 Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2 Username: <my email>

When I then try to connect, I get the Google sign in popup, where I re-enter my password and grant the access via 2FA. Then, the screen to give Thunderbird read/write permissions for mail, calendar, etc. appears, I click "Allow", the popup closes and Thunderbird tells me: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

I have checked other help articles; cookies are allowed, Thunderbird has no stored passwords for Google/Gmail, I have no overly protective antivirus software installed (only Windows Defender), I tried it with/without my VPN off.

I saw older articles mention allowing unsecure apps, yet this has been deprecated by Google in 2022 (I also tried "Password only" instead of "OAuth2", didn't work). I also never got an email from Google that a sign-in request was blocked (only the typical "Did you just sign in?").

Other (non-Google) accounts work fine in Thunderbird, and I only installed it today (so there should be no updates), while another Gmail account of mine doesn't work, either.

I am out of ideas what I could try to get my accounts to work... Can anyone help me?

But my Thunderbird 102 automatically updated to 115. In doing so it deleted all my Sent folders and Sent emails. Profiles backed up under 102 are incompatible with the 115 profile!!! Eventually, I was able to click and drag most of the deleted emails from a backup of 102 to 115.

If 115 is not a direct update why did it automatically update with attendant issues?

I had made a complete Timemachine backup, and migrated to a new mackbook Pro I do see my profile ( jgt4oy0r.default - 18GB) in ~/Library/thundebird When I launch Thunderbird, it seems it is pushing me to Account Setup.

Any clue?

On new device I downloaded Thunderbird from MS Store and I tried to copy my old profile, however despite successful copying to AppData\Local and AppData\Roaming, Thunderbird doesn't see the profile. I created a new profile to try renaming and replacing the files, but I noticed that folder for the new profile didn't appear in AppData locations. I tried to open them via 'about:profiles' and I received an error, I also tried to rename my old profile to new name I found there - but nothing helped. As my last attempt I tried to import files via Import Tool, but after choosing the correct folder, Thunderbird shows an error (more details are supposed to be in error console which I have no access to, as the files don't exist physically in AppData location). Export also failed as the file size exceeds 2 GB.

Is it somehow possible to successfully copy the profile to the version from MS Store? I'm sure that downloading installation file from Mozilla site would help, as I've been copying profiles many times before this way, but here I need to use MS Store as a single point of installations.

Over the last several months I struggled to get Thunderbird to allow me to set up email accounts for POP3 mail handling. For now, I have the accounts added using IMAP mail handling; however, in trying to fix the problem I removed and reinstalled Thunderbird a number of times. As a result, I seem to have lost all my contacts. To be more precise, there are no entries when I click on Address Book.

I have a dim recollection of having read that TB saves multiple Profiles and that Profiles contain many things including downloaded email and address books. I hope that is the case and that there might exist an older version of a Profile that contains my address book. If that is true, I need help finding the older Profiles, determining if they contain my address book, and recovering the address book without disturbing my current TB install.

Can anyone confirm or deny my supposition? If confirmed, can anyone tell me how to go about recovering my address book? I'm running TB v.115.7.0 on Windows 10. I believe I'm up to date on both.

To all a happy holiday season. It's time for another rousing rendition of an oldie, but goody! "Unable to login in at server. Probably wrong configuration,username or password."! Windows 11 version. So I utilize 3 different gmail account addresses. Accounts 1 & 2 loaded up fine. Account 3 has the exact display name, gmail address, and YES, the correct password. I have checked this on gmail from my windows 11 laptop, and my android email app which used Firefox as the browser to get to Google. Soooo...I know, right, it's been posted and somewhat answered here a zillion times. However it's never straightforward on whether its a corrected reply. NOTHING, and I mean, I've looked in every nook and cranny, uninstalled Tbird, reloaded. Cleared everything, cache, registry, tickets to see Taylor S. Nothing works. Yes, I checked for upgrades. Rebooted. Stepped away from computer, watched Seahawks win win win. Came back to computer. Still...nothing magically changed (you know that sometimes airing-it-out does work). Can anyone help here? I have been using Thunderbird to great satisfaction. When my computer of 10 1/2 years died, I started to use old laptop of my son who made me the second user. I d/l Thunderbird on my account and it all went well till a few days ago. No Thunderbird. I d/l again, profile not found/inaccessible. I did see advice here from last year, looking for the profile under Users, app data, roaming etc. but to no avail. There is no profile.

How to solve this problem? Also after d/l the set-up, the thumbnail looks strange, like half of the image as shown in the picture. I tried d/l a few times, same result. I was very content with the program. I want Thunderbird back!

Just trying to upload my email account. It has only partially completed the upload. Files are missing and alterations I made to my actual email account are not showing. Tried taking it off and reloading but has exactly the same errors!
