I've got a Fastmail account, and have set up CardDav according to Fastmail's guide to get set up with Thunderbird.

Once my contacts synced, I was unable to see my contact lists in the Thunderbird contacts sidebar, nor can I add a list (the button is greyed out). Is this a known issue? Is it Fastmail specific, or a CardDav thing?

Previously, for years, selecting and deleting groups of emails took only seconds. For sometime now, the more emails selected to delete as a group causes the amount of time to do so to become longer and longer. Minutes go by. It feels like instead of dealing with all of them at once, it's deleting one at a time, but that's just a guess. What can I do to get back to where it used to be? Thank you.

I am going crazy. This message keeps popping up every time I turn on my Thunderbird email program on my Windows 10 laptop! Please see the attached file. I shows you the popup and what happens when I click on 'Next'. I 'x' it off, and a few seconds later it pops up again. The only way to stop it from doing so is to turn off my Thunerbird program. I like to keep it on so I know when I get emails. PLEASE help me get rid of this. Thanks so much.

Have used a Onetel e-mail account for a number of years.

Occasionally, the outgoing server drops out so messages can't be sent only received.

When trying to reconfigure with correct port numbers etc it will never reconnect straight away and there is always a long process to get it up and running again which always seems different every time.

I can never manage this by myself and always have to get help in. This has baffled the best brains in the business so any help or advice gratefully received.

When I start T'bird in normal mode, I get what you see in picture #1. Notice the custom menu bar at the top. I can still receive emails into the Inbox (but can't see or access them), and I can write an email, access the Address Book, Calendar, etc.

When I then start in Safe mode, with Shift key down, I get what you see in Picture #2. Notice that the custom menu bar at the top is gone. I have to recreate it every time I shut down and restart T'bird. That is unacceptable.

Please advise what I should do to correct this situation. If I can't, then I'm through with Thunderbird (after some 15+ years).

Many thanks, Robert Hawkins

Since the latest thunderbird update 115 I have multiple crashes & black screens, before this it was very stable. I have been using this since 2015 I think with little problem until now. If nobody else is having problems with 115 perhaps I should just use windows restore to go back to Dec 10th 2023. The only alteration to settings I made to try and fix it was to untick "use hardware acceleration when available". It made no difference.

Apparently the latest Thunderbird update is causing our Windows 11 print spooler to stop. I've seen this problem talked about elsewhere but have not seen a solution. The spooler has to be restarted, otherwise no app/program will print, since only Print to PDF is then available. This is making Thunderbird almost useless to us. Help.

If I create a test message to myself containing eg:

Line 1

Line 2

Line 3

(See uploaded image)

And then forward that message to myself, I have the following issues:

1) The forwarded message is displayed *twice* in my Inbox. (See uploaded image)

2) If I delete the initial message, and one of the forwarded messages, then the Inbox shows one message which has the errors of 1) The message Subject is blank 2) The message date is incorrect (See uploaded image)

3) If I restart TB, then this empty message in Issue 2 above is gone.

4) If I have issue 1 above, and I restart TB, then the forwarded message is only displayed once - ie restarting TB fixes issue 1

5) BUT if I now delete the original message and have only the forwarded message in my Inbox, the contents of the forwarded message is displayed as a summary and not in full. This is not always happening and so not alway reproducible and so I have not shown an image of this.

Hello, I'm using Thunderbird (and before Netscape Messenger) already 30 years. With this new version 115.4.1 (32-Bit) I'm now experiencing the symptom, that, when I reopen one of the mailboxes the focus is not in this mailbox on the last read mail as it was always in earlier versions, it now focusses somewhere so that you always have to scroll to the point where you have been last time.

Suddenly today Thunderbird won't access either of our Hotmail accounts. Error message reads "Login to server imap-mail.outlook.com with username my.name@hotmail.com failed." After several prompts to Retry/Enter New Password/Cancel, I even put the correct password in with no success and eventually received another message "Server has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem." Neither of these are true: I can access the server on my browser so I know the password is correct. Both my late husband's and my hotmail accounts are affected this way. Help! I am nearly 80 and not terribly computer literate and somebody else set Thunderbird up for me years ago because I wanted to be able to archive my messages locally (offline) and now it's suddenly stopped working.

Since the dawn of time, the Compact folder command on the folder context menu has compacted just the selected folder. However, I have noticed that in the latest Thunderbird version (I'm using 115.6.1) the Compact folder starts automatically compacting all subfolders under the current one. This is a big problem for me: under the inbox, which I need to compact fairly often because all messages pass through it, I have literally hundreds of subfolders, some of them dating from more than 20 years ago, when I used Netscape Communicator. Those folders are "read only" (I only have them for reference), and I do not want to modify them in any way, to avoid risking their contents. Thus, I DO NEED for Thunderbird to stop compacting subfolders automatically. Is it possible? How can it be done?

Also, after a folder compacting has started, what's the best way of cancelling it, short of closing Thunderbird? I understand that the compaction process is quite safe, as it copies all data to a fresh file, but would rather not risk data loss.

Something has changed with the search function in Thunderbird emails. This used to be fine and now is terrible.

If I want to search all my emails for something like where I mentioned a fish. I search "fish" now and nothing comes up. Search a friends name. Nothing. So so annoying.

Btw on my desktop mac.

So now I have to open a firefox browser open my yahoo account in the browser and search it there. Any word. It comes up no problem.

Or I have to go on my iphone in "all mailboxes" and search a word and it comes up.

What have you / thunderbird changed to make searching for any word in any of my emails impossible now.

Thanks,

Vince.

Thunderbird is using 20-25% cpu and is very sluggish. (This is a relatively new problem - within the past 4 months).

I have two gmail IMAP accounts and one POP account. All show about 30-40K messages. I am working on deleting messages from the servers and local archiving thinking that maybe the problem is with synching or compacting(?). Anything else to focus on? Is there a way to tell, or place to look for what is consuming so much cpu?

Re-running in troubleshoot mode with add-ons turned off does seem to help a little, but it's temporary.

Thanks

Good morning I have updated Thunderbird to the lastest version 115.6.0 (64-bit) on my Mac with Ventura 13.3.1 (22E261) and now I can not see my mailboxes and folders. Have tried everything - nothing works. Rest bookmarks work. Contacts and other functions. I can create and send letters from any of my mailboxes, I can search letters in all mailboxes in search field, but I can not see on the left bookmark nothing - empty list of mailboxes. I have download the program again, reinstalled, changed Thunderbird file in Programms - same thing. Please help.
