I've got messages in one of my gmail Inbox accounts that I'm able to see in Thunderbird when it's offline. If I connect my laptop online while running Thunderbird, it will (of course) refer to the current status of my email messages.

I'm wondering: How can I migrate the offline messages that I want to preserve in Thunderbird into my online gmail Inbox account?

Thanks!

I have a very new PC running WIN10 Pro 64bit ver 21H1. Have downloaded the latest recent version: 78.12.0

One running the exe, it extracts, then reports "Sorry, Thunderbird can'r be installed. This version MS WIN7 x64 or newer..."

Also tried earlier versions 78.10.2 and 72.0b3 with same result, and the .msi versions which just fail but report nothing.

Something clearly very wrong. Had no issues installing Firefox 89.0.2.

Have spent well over an hour fiddling with this, including many reboots.

(I also installed a much earlier version on my WIN XP machine as I wanted to create a TB profile by importing MS Outlook data. I had no problems with this.)

After the installation of TB (78.12) , almost all emails in the "received" box on my email server have been downloaded in TB , AND deleted on my email server . I suppose this due to the default value of the parameter "server parameters -> leave the messages on the server -> duing 14 days max.

Now I changed this parameter to "until I delete them" , but I want to have again the messages available from the "received" box on my email server, in order to access them from anywhere.

How to upload again all these emails to the email ?. Thanks for your support.

Hi, I installed thunderbird and wanted to add the gmail-account of my 10 years old son. His account is a "google family link" account". I tryed it on 3 pc´s and it doesn’t work on any device. After that i tried it with my goole-account and it worked. Is there a opportunity to activate his account on thunderbird? I don´t want to wait until he is 18.

Sincerely yours Michael

I have just upgraded from a late 2012 27" iMac running Thunderbird vsn 78.12.0 (64 bit) to my new 2021 M1 iMac and have installed Thunderbird that also shows as vsn 78.12.0

I wanted to migrate all my accounts, settings, message filters, contacts and local folders but despite following carefully all the instructions in the Thunderbird help section "Moving Thunderbird Data to a New Computer" I cannot get all my existing folders showing.

When I look for the Profile Folder as directed, show in Finder then copy to a data stick it shows not as "Thunderbird" but as "kyeo000w.default". When I then paste that file into the Thunderbird profile folder on my new iMac and then run Thunderbird it does not show all my existing settings etc.

Any suggestions?

I have had problems using IMAP to download my Inbox from OWA. I've had some help in the forum understanding where things went wrong. I would like to start "fresh" but not delete all the settings in my profile. I tried the repair option, it seemed to delete INBOX and INBOX.msf. I was hoping to try again as cleanly as possible. As I have tried creating INBOX several times and each time I seem to get all my mail, but the size of INBOX varies by hundreds of MB.

If I just did this-

Close Thunderbird Manually delete INBOX and INBOX.msf Start Thunderbird

would I be creating any grief for myself? My biggest fear is deleting mail off the server, as I need to access it on a lot of devices.

Thanks.

Hello!

My work email came configured to receive emails through Thunderbird. A friend told me about HCL Notes (Lotus Notes, or IBM notes) and I decided to try it out for a while, and so migrated to that.

After some time I realized I like Thunderbird better and want to migrate back to it, meaning to receive emails normally in it and all.

Does anybody know a way to do that smoothly?

Thanks!

I have followed the instructions located here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer

but still cannot get my new computer to access my email accounts.

Apparently I have missed something with the profile or the proper path for it but I cannot figure out what it is.

Is there another step to take to complete the migration?

I had been happily using MozBackup since it came out and when my laptop died, had to move everything over to my desktop. Did the recommended copy / paste method found in these forums and now the backups don't work says corrupted. I realize add-ons aren't supported but two related questions:

a) Can I fix a corrupted profile ? b) Any alternative suggestions for backing up 15 years of e-mails

I set up my new Lenovo desktop (Windows 10), by copying Profile (C:\Users\<account>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<some characters>.default), all’s well now, but had to go through a lot of headaches and I’d like to understand why. What happened is this: I followed standard procedure in copying Profile, tried it several times, but the result was that it would only contain emails from 2020-present, not what I had on Thunderbird on my old desktop, which had separate years for emails going back to the early 2000's, as well as some gmail folders I'd copied over w/MAPI.

What finally got it to work was realizing (with the help of a Cox support tech), that there are TWO locations for the Thunderbird Profiles, the standard one under ...AppData\Roaming (the location you find on TB--"troubleshooting information-- open folder" ), and also under AppData\ Local….THAT was the one that contained ALL my emails, and copying that to the new desktop finally gave me everything I needed.

People on another forum had been trying to help me, and when I reported back that copying over the Local Profile did the trick, I was told that the Local Profile is nothing but a cache, and “Unless you have a very unusual installation, nothing of value is in that Local folder.”

Obviously this does not jibe with the endless hassles I/we had, and our subsequent solution. So I would really like to know: what is the deal with Roaming vs. Local profiles? Was there something unique about my old desktop/setup that made Local the correct profile? (The old desktop was custom-built in 2014, standard Windows setup.) I probably should have asked here first; mea culpa! And THANK YOU in advance for your knowledge/feedback on an unexpectedly baffling process.

Cannot download EE.net messages after the first one each day. Sending messages is OK. Original problem was blocked access because of others' spam. Provider unblocked and I changed password. Now, download is automatic when I first log on but after that message is, "connection to server mail.ee.net timed out". Shutting down computer and restarting does not fix problem. Next day, it is OK for first power up access only. Strange!

EE.Net webmail access is OK for send and receive. EE.Net Provider said no problem on their side. I also have primary WOW account. Sending and receiving messages there is OK. Regards, Art Towslee towslee1@ee.net
