Bookmarks won't sync in Firefox for Android version 33.0

I can sync Firefox among computers (XP, Vista, Windows7) and a Samsung Galaxy S4 (Verizon SCH-I545) on Android 4.4.2 and a Verizon Droid 2 Global Android 2.3.4 using one Firefox account with 885 bookmarks.

When I sync either phone with another account with 6334 bookmarks neither phone gets any of the bookmarks. The app does not even show a folder icon for Desktop bookmarks, just a few Mozilla bookmarks. If I try syncing just bookmarks I get the same thing.

I can toggle between the two account and on both phones with consistent results. To ensure a clean sync, I removed the account from the phone, cleared cache and data from the app then signed in with the other account.

I followed the procedure to access the sync log and it looks like it indicates success. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1012768 is a related question and from which I found how to turn on the sync logs.

My Chrome bookmarks sync with Chrome for android just fine.

I had not used Firefox browser for a couple years and tried it again after good reviews and and an article about casting Firefox to my Roku streaming device with Firefox Beta and then Firefox for Android 33.0. Casting works fine on both .

Note that on the Windows 7 Firefox during installation the Chrome bookmarks are identified as Imported from Firefox not from Chrome. On the Windows Vista they are in the Imported from Google Chrome folder.

I have quite a few bookmarks in my current default browser (CM Browser) and don't relish the thought of manually recreating them all. I also want to keep them organized by categories. The folder system is very helpful.

It appears this very useful tool is unavailable on Android even though it is on desktop. It's better than syncing, as changes don't propagate back to my account if I don't want them to. I don't really want to give my tablet access to my account - other family members use it in vacation.

I have used Firefox for years but have just got an android mobile which I was hoping to sync my bookmarks to.

I have set up syncing on the pc, and linked my mobile (it tells me that it is syncing and the time it did it)

Now, whilst I am not used to the mobile yet, when I open Mozilla Firefox for android there is no sign of the actual bookmarks that it has synced!!!!!!!!!!

I am unsure where they are displayed as I can see no folder option only a tab to the right of the "Top Sites" tab and there is only: 1. firefox about.. 2. Firefox, Customize.... and 3. Firfox support..... AND at this point I am totally stuck.

Please if you can help I would be very grateful thank you.

I want to access all my bookmarks that I have saved in Firefox for Android. I came upon this article that seems to suggest that there is a dedicated Bookmarks tab in FF for Android.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-delete-and-view-bookmarked-webpages-firefox-an#w_bookmarks-panel

But I don't see any such tabs in my android app. I want to backup all the bookmarks I have without using sync, because I want them backed up locally, not online.

Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to: 1. Get the bookmarks tab to show up. OR 2. Backup all bookmarks locally without using sync.

Using latest verison of Firefox for Android on my Oneplus 3T updated to latest version of Android available for it.

HTML5 Custom Homescreen Icon + Mobile Web App

I've been learning HTML5 Game Development, and have a question about Firefox for Android: How would I get a custom icon for a bookmark added to the home screen? It looks like Firefox either uses a favicon, or a default star.

On iOS Safari, I was able to accomplish this using <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="image.png" />, and the functionality seems to carry over to Google Chrome.

I tried using this code for a custom favicon on a specific page: <link rel='shortcut icon' type='image/x-icon' href='favicon.ico' /> but it only works when I view the file directly on the computer. When accessing the page through Apache, there is no favicon.

My other question was about Mobile Web App functionality. In iOS Safari and Google Chrome for Android, adding "apple-mobile-web-app-capable" or "mobile-web-app-capable" lets the webpage run as a fullscreen web app when saved to the homescreen. Firefox just opens it like a normal bookmark.

Any help is appreciated. I'm learning from the book 'HTML5 Game Development for Dummies.'

...it was said that improved Bookmarks management was expected in 3rd quarter of 2016. I asked about it in september last year and got some "upvotes" but no replies. Does anyone know if it is still in the pipeline at all?

PC sync is great, but I am really keen to have the ability to add nestable bookmark folders while on Android and to be able to save bookmarks to them or move bookmarks between them.

To me this is a vital part of keeping my life organised but I rarely use a home PC these days.

I would jump at a third-party solution too, sadly I do not have the skills or knowledge required to create an add-on. Could this be a solution?
