I changed on my desktop system from classic Firefox (Rapid channel) to the Firefox ESR-version. And now I search a firefox ESR-version for my Android-smartphone.

--> Does also an ESR-version exist for Andoird like for desktop systems?

Yes i tapped sync and on my mac's firefox, the android device is not even shown .. i can see my windows firefox there and see open tabs from there but not from android

why doens't android firefox sync ?

Hello, I noticed that the Firefox Android app does not have a lock feature as the Google Chrome Android app does for private/incognito browsing. I feel as though this is a very useful feature that secures the icongnito tab in the google app so that I could leave the app and no one would be able to access the tabs other then me due to it requiring a fingerprint to open. Firefox seems like a good android app, I just wish that it had this feature.

This hang is not consistent. I have been switching back and forth to get details for this thread with no issue. But very frequently when I have switched away from Firefox to another app and then returned to Firefox the app has completely frozen. I can see everything clearly but can do nothing at all (neither the web page or Firefox). I haven't yet identified a pattern.

132.0.2 has Relay and CashRewards installed. 133.0b8 is vanilla.

I'm using gesture controls on HyperOS to switch apps.

No issues with any other apps.

Is this where I report such things?

Hello All, For some unknown reason, the browsers available on Play Store for Nvidia Shield are crap - so far I've not found any that allow me to easily sync bookmarks etc between Shield/PC/Mobile.

I therefore tested and found Opera and Vivaldi sideloaded to my Nvidia Shield TV Pro both worked perfectly.

I wanted to use test Firefox as I was about to use this as my main preferred PC/mobile browser, but first I wanted to check it all worked OK.

I was able to sideload and set up Firefox, but as soon as I open a webpage the Controller stopped working.

How can this be fixed please?

Please don't suggest a browser that's intended for AndroidTV on the Shield Play Store - they are all crap due to the reasons I mentioned, the controller with Right Joysick acting as mouse pounter works perfectly on Opera and Vivaldi, so I don't understand why this it doesn't work on Firefox.

I hope this can be fixed/resolved as I would like to use Firefox as an alternative.

Where is the option to do this? I only see the general "Delete browsing data" in Settings, and it does not let me select cookies for specific websites.

I have tried to solve this problem by using AI,but I have followed the steps given by Deepseek, I have made sure my device are support HEVC and AVC hardware decoding (Snapdragon 870), I also tried to switch my UA to Safari 18, MacOS X, it couldn't help either,but I do the same steps on Edge Canary it works. Prior to the 6/16/25 release, hitting the back button on the three button control on a page with no previous pages would open the home page without closing the current tab. After the update, it closes the tab before opening the home page. This was useful for quickly opening multiple tabs, as well as preventing accidentaly closing a tab. Please revert this change, or make it a setting.

Ever since the Fennec F-Droid 142 update, Fennec has trouble loading pages properly, even when you currently have Internet access. This happens when you try to access any page directly from the home page and from the status bar from within the app, and the page tries to connect but completely stalls with loading as a result. This issue is not affected by the in-app mini browser view that pops up when tapping a link in another app to preview in Fennec or when you have any other app open that uses the Android System WebView (or in most cases, any WebKit based browser, as it doesn't have to be the Android System WebView most the time for this bug to go away!) for loading content, which in fact this strange bug in Fennec will go away as a result.

This issue is only addressed in Fennec F-Droid 142 and does not affect any other forks of Firefox or even the proper upstream versions of Firefox where this issue does not occur. This issue only occurs every time after restarting your Android device, in fact the one that I'm using is a Google Pixel 8 Pro.

I have also reported this issue directly to Google engineers so that they know what might be going on. Given that I'm on a beta version of Android 16 (QPR2 beta 1), this is to be expected. Thank you all so much as hopefully someone at Mozilla will have a small patch ready for when Fennec 143 goes into testing pretty soon!

When will Gecko-based Firefox Android increase the number of default search engines in 2025?

Currently it hosts only Big Tech namely Google and Microsoft Bing and DuckDuckGo, which is Bing and MSN results in DuckDuckGo and Qwant (same Bing results) latter which works only in the UK.

I'm using Gecko-based browsers like Fenix and Mull and Iceraven, and they all come with like 5 to 10 search engine options.

Adding new search engines is a mess and doesn't sync with Firefox account settings, so futile efforts.

Even Chrome allows us to select our search engine, if we are visiting it too much.

Is Firefox really privacy based browser or just Big Tech in Firefox like Google as default search engine out of the box, no asking which the XYZ user wants?

Hi, I want to disable the "Thought-provoking stories" shortcuts from the home / new tab page on Android.

Following the other forum posts and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/hide-pocket-recommendations-firefox there should be a switch for "Thought-provoking stories" under Settings - Homepage - Shortcuts, but I don't see it. What can I do? Thank you for your help.

Hello everyone, my name is Francesco and I have a big problem that I can't solve in any way! I just can’t seem to solve a synchronization issue between two Firefox 135.0.1 (64-bit) installations on a Laptop and a PC (both running Linux Mint 22) and a Firefox 135.0.1 (Build #2016074239) on Android. Can someone please help me? I'm desperate!

Let’s start from the beginning: For a very long time, every time I connected to the internet with Firefox on my Laptop or mobile, my bookmarks would get completely messed up: folders duplicated endlessly, some empty, others identical to the original ones. The same happened with the bookmarks themselves: separators almost all moved to the bottom and multiple duplicates of my countless bookmarks.

After several failed attempts following posts from other users who had the same or a similar problem, as well as some Firefox support how-tos, I decided to try a different approach, which was also described in a post.

First, after logging out of my account on all three devices, I backed up my bookmarks from my PC in different formats (.html, .json), and after closing Firefox, I also backed up the cookies.sqlite, favicons.sqlite, and places.sqlite files—just in case! Then, I deleted all folders and bookmarks from the other two devices.

I then spent the whole afternoon cleaning up my bookmarks on the PC: removing duplicates and redundant folders, organizing separators and bookmarks the way I wanted, and making new backups as mentioned above. After that, I logged into my account from my mobile, triggered a sync from there, then logged into the other devices and started the synchronization on them as well.

But it didn’t work. 😞

PC and Laptop synced beautifully, everything was perfect, but the mobile, despite showing that it was syncing, remained empty—and still is.

I tried several forced sync methods as suggested in some Firefox how-tos (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1482205 and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-set-firefox-sync-firefox-android), and I also followed procedures from other posts where users had similar issues, but nothing worked.

I even tried different approaches: logging out and back in first with my PC, then with my mobile; replacing all bookmarks with the ones I had exported in good condition; checking if there was a new update on Google Play. But my mobile remains completely empty—no bookmarks at all.

So, after more than four hours of trial and error, I'm losing my mind 🤯, and I’m also getting seriously exhausted (it’s now 2 AM, and I’ve been up since 5 AM!).

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? A plugin? A folder on the mobile where I can manually place the saved files? Maybe a well-aimed hammer strike in a specific spot on the phone? Anything? At this point, even just a good joke might help me get through the frustration. 😜

Now, I just hope I can get some sleep—I’m so stressed that… 😭

Hello, after updating the mobile Firefox to version 135, I encountered a problem. When I start speeding up video playback on YouTube, a clicking sound regularly appears, as if it’s a micro-stutter in the audio. I uninstalled and reinstalled the browser, and the issue persists even on a clean browser with no extensions. A similar issue also exists in the beta version of Firefox 136 and the nightly version 137, which I installed for testing without making any changes. To check, I installed Firefox 134 again, and the issue does not occur there. My phone, the Tecno Pova 6 Neo, is relatively powerful with an 8-core processor at 2.2 GHz and 8 GB of RAM. I had been using firefox as the standard browser for years, but since the DNS-over-HTTPS feature I have had trouble with protecting my family on the web via DNS filtering. Currently the only solution that has worked is to use a different browser (the Spin browser, for whoever is interested). I have Firefox blocked using the Android family link feature (and they can't install new apps without permission). Personally, I would love to move everyone back to Firefox, but I can't find a way to do it safely. Is there a way to effectively disable DNS-over-HTTPS such that it can't be changed (kids are pretty quick at figuring out that they can just go to the settings and figuring out that they can turn the feautre back on). A parental control feature would be ideal, so I can just set the DNS-over-HTTPS to use the family DNS filter in a way they can't turn it off. Does anyone have an helpful solution, or is Firefox dead for family protection?

I'm quite annoyed about the new Android Firefox menu update. It takes up so much more space on the screen for not really adding any extra usability and the New Tab button is entirely gone in spite of there being plenty of space to have included it. Where did it go? I'd really prefer to have it back.

I recently downloaded Firefox on my Android device. It's been fine. However today, there was an issue. I have the settings set on my phone so bookmarks appear on the homepage. However, today, for some reason, the bookmark on the homepage was glitched. I'm not sure why, but I figured I just had to reset it. So I go rid of the bookmark on the homepage, and redid the bookmark. It was working again, but now, the bookmark isn't appearing on the homepage anymore. It's just a blank homepage, even though my settings are still the same. I've turned the settings on and off, reset fire fox, cleared cache, and the bookmark still isn't showing up. Pleas help me.

Just as the title goes. I've been using Mozilla Firefox on desktop since 2005. The best hands down browser ever. I started using Firefox on android back in 2019.

I still love the android version, but my only problem with it is tabs. They stay open constantly. In the desktop application you close out and all the tabs close. In the android version I swipe up and there still there next time I load in. I don't like this at all. Unless I quit out of Firefox from the submenu, the tabs will stay open indefinitely.

I was hoping Mozilla could add an option to auto close tabs in 6 hours or something like that. Or close out tabs when I swipe up in android.

I have moved about 20 friends and family to Firefox and it's always going to be Firefox from now on. You guys rock!
