I'm using DWService.net (a Teamviewer-like System) to access my computers and server.

The screensharing function is fully webbased and also works from mobile browsers.

Today, my Firefox for Android got updated to version 79.0.2 (Build #2015755339), and since then I noticed a weird behavior:

When I connect to a computer with Dwservice and do a click, the cursor re-centers to the screen of the mobile phone.

On the 1st picture, I clicked the minimize button and right afterwards the cursors jumps to the position shown in the 2nd one.

Hello, I've tried Adobe Acrobat and lots of other pdf-viewers, all the same: I cannot open or download any pdf from a website... When trying to open the pdf an error-message occurs (I try to translate from German): "file could not be downloaded. Save the file in your local storage/memory and try to open it afterwards". (and actually I have no clue how to save or download it when instantly after pressing/clicking this error message occurs^^ (even if I press a long time on the pdf, no menu appears offering a download (just one to save the website as a pdf))

Opening and saving pdfs works fine from other apps or from mail-accounts, and - I just tried it for the first time - as well from the chrome-browser (I was asked then if I'd like to use adobe or any other pdf-reader to open)

As I'd like to stick with Firefox and don't want to change to any other browser, has anyone a solution or hint? Thanks and Regards, Sholto

Using: Android 10, Firefox 68.11.0 and a Sony Xperia XZ2 compact

Hi everybody,

I've upgraded to firefox 79.0 last night. The first time I started the browser it begins to import my old data, but then it crashes and cause my phone to restart (Sony xperia z1c, ACIP 14.0, Android 9). After that, the phone starts to loop restarting every 2-3 minutes. It is clear to me that it is an underground process of firefox that it is causing that, because after having uninstalled firefox and replace it with an older version from my backup (68) everything is working fine again.

I've also tried to fresh install Firefox, by deleting it first and then installing it, but the same problem has happened.

Any idea how to solve this?

Many thanks!

So my problem seems to be different that the others I've seen like this. I have my own HTML files saved on my phone that I was able to open in Firefox before with them rendering correctly and all, but now when I try to open them, they just show the code in text form.

Here's what I tried: Refreshing, disabling AddOns, clearing cookies, cache, you name it; uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, and rebooting the phone.

The other things to bear in mind is that my file is a genuine HTML file. It doesn't have any crazy rich text markup or have a .txt extension or anything. The file also passes the W3C Markup Validation with no errors and no warnings. Like I said, the files rendered before just fine. There is this HTML viewer that Android comes with that still renders these files. I am also not rooted or anything either. I'm running Android 9.0 "Pie" with Firefox 68.11.0.

I believe this is my fault, in that I must've touched something I shouldn't have, but alas. Is there something that could be right under my nose that I'm missing? Or maybe a value in about:config I have to put in? (My about:config is precisely as it is when it is downloaded fresh from the Play Store.)

Can you help me?

I have two Android devices with Firefox as my default browser. Device 1 is a five-year-old Huawei MLA-AL00 (also known as Maimang 5) smartphone running Android 7.0 Nougat, EMUI 5.0.4. Its Firefox comes from Google Play and updated automatically. Device 2 is an Honor Tablet 5 bought earlier this year. It runs Android 9.0 Pie, EMUI 9.1.0. It does not have Google Mobile Services despite being released before US sactions, so its Firefox is imported from Device 1 via Bluetooth and can't update itself. Yesterday I tried to get Device 2 an Google Play but failed, leading to a total refresh of the OS that deleted older version of Firefox, so I have to import Firefox (which just updated) from Device 1 again. Now both devices show similar problems: 1. Firefox often freezes first and then quits. This happens every time when I press Enter after typing in the search bar of any search engine. It also occurs when I switch tabs (by the way, I hate the new tab design!) or when logging in Firefox accounts with password, the old-fashioned way. It freezes when I press the the continue button after typing my email address. This basically makes the browser unusable. 2. As a result of the issue mentioned above, it's impossible to log in Firefox accounts with password. Only the QR code way is usable. TBH I don't think the QR code is very useful. 3. When I logged in my Google account at YouTube on Device 2 this morning, Google says the browser is not safe to use. WTF is that?

On three nights, while I was sleeping, firefox burnt through 0,5 to 1GB of data of my cellphone data usage plan. Although this was reported as a bug four years ago, the issue is still open. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1274045 And https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1273552 And https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1565475

I appreciate Mozilla/Firefox, but this is unacceptable. It is costing me €15 in three days. And that money isn't even going to Mozilla but to my data provider.

I need to voice somewhere that this gave me serious reason to consider dropping the use of Firefox mobile. The above thread provides a workaround, but this shouldn't be solved by a workaround; it shouldn't happen period.

Firefox had always been my preferred browser and had never encountered any problem with it until the most recent update of the app as per above-subject. My first attempt to use the updated app caused a phone reboot and all subsequent retries led to the same phone reboot. And so I decided to remove and reinstall the app on my mobile phone in the hope that the problem gets resolved. However, when I tried to sync my Firefox account with the reinstalled app, it again just caused a reboot after an OCR on my desktop and prevented me from authorizing the sync initiated on my mobile phone. The same problem of the reinstalled app causing a reboot of the mobile phone persists to now every time I try to use the updated app for browsing. Prior to this, Firefox installed on this particular phone always worked as expected. At the moment, I need to resort to Google Chrome to be able to browse the web using this particular phone.

But the same updated app installed in my other phone (Cherry Mobile Android One G1) with an older Android version 7.1 works without any problem at all. And this has become my actual fallback for now when I need to use a browser on the go.

I wrote a simple php-fcgi script that presents a user with a few input fields in a form. User then clicks submit button and another php-fcgi server script checks users' input for sanity and, if everything is fine, a file is sent to the user via "Content-Disposition: attachment" header as a HTTP response. I would naturally expect that if a form is posted via HTTP POST request to a server script which replies with sending a file, the browser would keep that download stream even if it has to ask a user for permission/location/name to download it to. Indeed, desktop versions of Firefox do that exactly as expected and successfully download the file. Firefox for Android, however, does NOT. It terminates the download stream, asks user if it is ok to download a file, and then, after user clicks "Download", issues ANOTHER HTTP request, but this time it is not POST but GET and without any form data. Naturally, the download fails. In the logs of web-server it looks like this (IPs and hostnames are redacted):

[22/Aug/2020:13:07:31 +0000] IP ...net.ua POST /nya/nya.php HTTP/1.1 200 955 57120 http://...net.ua/nya/ [Mozilla/5.0 (Android 9; Mobile; rv:79.0) Gecko/79.0 Firefox/79.0] [22/Aug/2020:13:07:33 +0000] IP ....net.ua GET /nya/nya.php HTTP/1.1 200 166 284 [-] [MozacFetch/48.0.14]

The first one is the correct HTTP POST request that tries to send the file but is terminated by Firefox. Apparently that second HTTP GET request is being done by this strange "MozacFetch" agent with complete disregard for the HTTP method and its parameters.

What should I do to make Firefox for Android work exactly the same as its desktop counterparts in this trivial situation?

This error has happened for as long as I can remember. I go to a page that has media (often even ads) and I get a constant entry in my notification menu that I can press "play"on. I cannot get rid of this by closing the associated page or by dragging it to the side (which gets rid of most other notification items). The only way I've found the clear it is to close Firefox itself from my "recent applications"system window and restart (assuming I've defaulted that page and it won't restart with everything else).

This is an obnoxious bug.
