Hello,

I wonder where the firefox bookmarks are stored on my android device. Although I also use Firefox Sync I need to know where the bookmarks are locally on the android device. Alternatively: can I export firefox bookmarks of an android device without usage of Firefox Sync?

I am running FF 80.1.2 on my device.

Thank you

I accidentally bookmarked some website, i removed the bookmark but when typing in the search bar it still autofills that website. I unchecked search bookmarks but it still shows, only when i uncheck search browsing history does it stop showing. I deleted history, and deleted browsing data but it still autofills.

I didn't remember if I bookmarked that webpage on desktop or mobile, thinking maybe it's pulling that autofill from the synced desktop browser. But I didn't find it in the history or bookmarks there.

This is probably a redundant question, but the Firefox for Android Update 79.02 seriously screwed up my bookmarks, (worse than they already were.)

Now all my Firefox for Android Bookmarks look as though they've been totally randomized like a thoroughly shuffled a deck of playing cards. All the folders are rearranged in a different order and the standalone bookmarks; the ones not assigned to a custom folder, the ones that FF v.68 listed AFTER all of my custom created folders are totally FUBAR. In Firefox v.68 just keeping the custom bookmark folders separate from the standalone bookmarks was a big deal. Now that's gone and finding a single bookmark in this convoluted mess is an exercise in futility. A few days ago, I wasted several hours, first figuring out how to actually do the editing procedure, in FF v.79.02, then going through the rote repetitive motions of manually creating custom folders for EACH of my standalone bookmarks, moving each bookmark into the new folder, and verifying the changes took.

I finally got getting everything looking and working well, only to learn just today, that my efforts were all for naught. Everything I did to clean up my bookmarks and make them easier to use, was automatically and thoroughly undone by Firefox v.79.02 a few days later. My custom folders are rearranged, and the standalone bookmarks are once again randomly mixed in with them. Adding insult to injury; it's happened to both of my Android devices.

How does Firefox v.80 for Android auto arrange my bookmarks? Is there ANY current ability to quickly change how FF v.80 bookmarks are listed? For instance, if the latest FF for Android bookmarks are currently listed by the date each was originally created, can that view be changed so that instead of using the date created, I could switch to sorting in alphabetical order?

Currently running version 80.1.3. on Android. I Sync with my Desktop Firefox. This has always worked well in the past. Ever since the last 2 upgrades something strange is happening when I try to save a new bookmark to a Mobile bookmark subfolder. After finding a new site to bookmark I will tap the Star icon. The bookmark is saved to the root of the Mobile bookmark folder. I have subfolders in the Mobile bookmark folder and want to then move the just saved bookmark to one of those Mobile subfolders. Starting to edit the bookmark I see no way to select a Mobile bookmark subfolder. I can click Mobile folder and it will take me to the Desktop folder but not to any Mobile subfolders. I don't remember the Mobile version doing it before the last 2 upgrades but maybe my recollection on that is fuzzy. Is there some way I don't know about to expand the Mobile bookmark folder to display subfolders when moving a just saved bookmark?

I have a ZTE Axon 7, (A2017U), on Metro by T-Mobile, & I've resisted upgrading Firefox due to my inability to learn new procedures, systems, functions, etc- due to my Traumatic Brain Injury,(a work injury f/2000, which I'm STILL fighting w/State of Calif, in order to get any medical care for- which is an entirely different problem, BUT, ALSO IS INVOLVED WITH THIS UPGRADE ISSUE). I have a gigantic amount of bookmarks saved, 95% are legal/medical info, dating back to AT LEAST 2011, if not earlier, as I migrated these bookmarks from previous Android phones I've owned in the past. I had to represent myself in the WorkComp proceedings, after being fired f/work, becoming homeless, THEN learning employer was uninsured, due to his WorkComp carrier going bankrupt, & his failure to re-insure himself! I spent 7 years learning about WorkComp law, TBI, everything else, in order to "win" my case, with a 100% Disability Rating, which allowed me,(supposedly), lifetime cash & medical benefits! The info in my bookmarks on this phone, is STILL being used, & is invaluable to me! I CANNOT LOSE THESE BOOKMARKS! OR, THE MANY PASSWORDS STORED IN FIREFOX, for all the websites, accounts I use, in the Password Mgr! I'm on v68.8.0, my antivirus, Lookout Premiums, is going berserk now, due to my not upgrading! Plus, to make it all worse, I've recently been in & out of hospital, due to medical issues associated with my TBI, PTSD, & Seizure Disorder! My memory is malfunctioning, my eyesight is scrambled, if I upgrade, I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT MAKE ANY MISTAKES, that could cause a loss of ANYTHING stored in Firefox! Plus, I'll need to learn a new browser, which is NOT my strong point now, especially since I use Firefox, & my phone's, as a "work tool"every day, as I'm forced to battle for a normal life, since this WorkComp system in California is broken beyond repair, & I've been reduced to a dollar figure written on a piece of paper, that's been crumpled & thrown in the trash! I apologize for this reach-out for help, but being homebound, BEDBOUND, , & unable to go outdoors, has made me question why I'm fighting... But, I refuse to give up! I just need help, which is very hard to ask for! Please tell me upgrading Firefox is a simple click on my ZTE's screen! I have no PC to back up anything on, no way to go to a store to buy an SD card, nothing! I need to be led through the procedure to upgrade to v81, so I don't screw up! Thanks in advance, I'm waiting for someone's kindness, & assistànce... Ron J,, aka TBIMan2000

Hi All,

I want to access ABC News, then change to viewing NBC News, etc. I just want to go from one bookmarked site to another with the least amount of hassle - just like how the desktop version works.

Q #1) With android v81 I tap the menu 3dots, select Bookmarks dropdown, tap on the Bookmark name/URL, it opens but as a new tab (3 steps). I must eventually close this tab >Select tabs icon, tap X to close that tab, then select the tab I just left. This is now SIX STEPS. I just want one open tab and change that URL to other bookmarked sites. I can't find a way to do this, or setting to change.

In the previous version I would I would tap the address bar, it defaulted to viewing Bookmarks tab. I selected a bookmark and the page would open - Done. This was TWO STEPS.

Q #2) BOOKMARK ORDER: "We listened to what features you want...blah blah". Is there a way to reorder bookmarks? Our bookmarks migrated into v81 are not alphabetical, by date saved, by URL, or even in their order from the previous version. This is just odd. Does anyone know the criteria on how v81 reordered bookmarks?

The previous version put new bookmarks at the very bottom of the list. People hated this and asked year after for the ability to rearrange their order. It's a tiny ask, 60 minutes worth of code. Many just don't want to push their highly personal bookmarks through a server (Create account -Sync with PC). To get their list order Android users would remove all bookmarks then add them by one in the order they want, doing this several times a year as the list changes. Mozilla has allowed the reorder of Bookmarks in the desktop version since it's inception. So there's has to be an ulterior motive why they won't allow this with mobile devices.

I need to export a collection of Firefox bookmarks from an old Android tablet. The latest version of Firefox that will run on this system is 68.0.2, which apparently did not have the ability to sync bookmarks or any option in the settings to export bookmarks. I would be happy if I could get the bookmarks in an HTML file or a plain text file. Or perhaps if I knew the directory in Android where Firefox stores the bookmarks, then I could copy it to a desktop computer.

This tablet will only run Android version 4.4.2. If I could find a way to view the support forums from a date when version 68 was still supported, I am sure I could find the answer myself.

Thanks very much! Lloyd

Hello, I have recently migrated to Firefox from Chrome on both my desktop and my mobile device. With the chrome mobile app, there is a basic function where once you have opened a folder or subfolder in the bookmark browser, the app remembers which subfolder that was, and reopens to that same subfolder when you open the browser again.

On the mobile Firefox app, it always boots you back to the highest level of the folders, outside even the desktop bookmarks folder. Which means that if I want to use my phone to and access bookmarks nested deep in my subfolders, I need to go >desktop bookmarks, >bookmarks toolbar, >Personal, >Stories. This is every time I open the bookmark browser and access bookmarks in this subfolder.

This is in contrast to the Chrome app, where it would automatically reopen to the >Stories subfolder.

Is there some way to attain this functionality on the Firefox mobile browser? It's very inconvenient, to the point that I am considering moving back to the Chrome app.
