Hello there! I have an issue with the context menu, which appears on selecting a word on any web site (you can see it on the screenshot attached one after another as it appears)

The context menu is too long, and most frequent options like copy text are in the end (I should switch it many times to copy anything, it appears only on the third tap, and some weird functions like search in Edge appears before the really useful ones). How could it be fixed?

Hi, this issue has been present for a long time for me, and with many versions of Firefox Nightly for Android.

I'm always using the latest nightly for browsing Youtube only, with a set of specific settings and addons (since we can't use profiles on Android yet)

My problem is I've configured the Homepage to never show anything but a few URLs I chose to pin, you can see my settings and my homepage in the screenshots attached.

Despite the "Recently visited" setting being disabled, sometimes, but not everytime, the last pages I visited are added to the Homepage, after the pinned sites. I have no idea what triggers it or not, if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a bug.

Thanks for your help !

There are three problems, all related, that are frustrating me with Firefox on Android. I have a Samsung Galaxy 24+. I am trying to get Firefox to use a local HTML file that are my bookmarks, but I am stymied at every turn:

1) when I click on the local, Galaxy, HTML file, I get the standard "Open with" pop up, but they only list: Chrome, HTML View, Android's Internet browser, and Samsung Print Services. Why doesn't Firefox show up there? This is important to me. Is Firefox failing to register its browser properly in Galaxy products?

2) The next thing I try to do is to sync bookmarks so that I can use my hundreds of bookmarks (rather than adding them into Firefox one at a time). So, I click on the famous three vertical dots and there is no "Sync" function in that menu, see attached. So I cannot import my bookmarks from my PC's bookmarks.

3) Thirdly, I try to type into the URL field what Chrome uses to access local files, which is for example: "content://media/external/file/1000005061" but Firefox android does not recognize that. When I change it to "file://media/external/file/1000005061" that does not work either.

Can you fix the three issues above? Thanks. Rick. see attached.

please i am Begging you let me put the forward/backward buttons on the search bar why do i have to open a separate menu to do this

ability to Choose what gestures do (for example, swiping on the search bar in either direction to navigate history rather than tabs) would also be acceptable, if slightly less convenient (as i suspect something like that would only allow moving forward/back one page at a time, as opposed to simply press-and-holding to pull up all your options to jump to)

i am losing my mind a little bit here i don't understand why it has to be so roundabout

Hello!

Look, i just cannot find a way to install my own small addon for firefox android that i made on my own device. I dont need it to be publicly available. I dont need noone to install it. I just want to install it on my own phone, and that's it, nothing more! That's just a small, few-lines-of-code addon which blocks annoying ads on a certain site me and my wife are using. All i want to install it on our phones. I dont care if it will be firefox nightly release for devs, or anything. If there's any way to install it, like using web-ext, adb, or maybe anything other than that - please let me know. I just spent 50x time more trying to install it on my own phone than actually writing it. Please, i really hope you can help. Thank you in advance!

I want to open multiple pages at the same time in Android 12, but Firefox for Android does not seem to support multi-instance (like in the attached image). I also tried beta and nightly but none of them worked either. As other browser apps (Chrome, Edge, Samsung, etc.) support it, I switched my default browser app to Samsung internet on Android (temporarily).

I don't want to use multiple apps (Stable, beta and nightly) just for opening multiple pages in a single screen. Is there any plan to support multi-instance in the future version of Firefox?

I am trying to set the home page on my Samsung S21 with android v13 and firefox v117. I cannot find any means for setting the home page. The customize homepage in the top (3 button) menu has no option for setting a different home page.

The homepage option under settings gives you exactly the same options as above.

The customize option under settings applies only to the theme and has no options for managing the home page.

Unfortunately every version of firefox is different and all the instructions I have found apply to different versions of firefox than the one I am using.

Is there a way to force "dark mode" for websites on mobile WITHOUT using an extension like Dark Reader?

I am comparing this to coming from Brave, where I am using their "experimental" Night Mode settings (which works great). For the desktop browser, I've gone to Manage Colors and swapped text/background white/black to make most websites appear as if they have a dark mode, but that option doesn't seem to exist on mobile.

I've attached 4 images that show the differences across the two browsers on mobile. Even Google's own Dark Theme doesn't seem accessible through whatever method FireFox uses, so I can't even use that dark theme without an extension at the moment.

If this is not currently possible, I'm hoping it's planned for future implementation. I can't suggest it either since the feature suggestion page appears to be down at the moment (being reworked?).

It seems like such a simple thing to ask. I want to be able to manually create a couple shortcuts to load my favorite web pages. The whole point of a shortcut is to avoid clutter, and streamline the process of using your favorite websites, right?

I manually add three shortcuts to my "firefox home screen". Google, Google news, and another page that is hosted on my local network. That's it. I don't want recommended sites, affiliate links, suggestions, or sites from my history clogging up my very short list of favorite website shortcuts. For this reason I configured the home screen to ONLY show "Shortcuts". Sponsored shortcuts, jump back in, recent bookmarks, recently visited, and pocket are all turned OFF. Still, I sometimes get new shortcuts to other sites I have visited added to my home screen (without the pin icon) randomly. Some sites that I visit sometimes appear there....but not always. Just randomly. If I wanted to have my history appear in shortcuts I supposed I would check the option to show recently visited sites...but I don't. Why would I want shortcuts added for random sites I have visited when I could just look at my history? If every site I visit has the potential to be added to my shortcuts randomly, how does that make using shortcuts a convenience? It doesn't seem to matter what I want because Firefox just does it anyway....sometimes....

The only way to remove these random automatic shortcuts is to remove them from my history individually or clear my entire history. This means I'm constantly fighting to keep these randomly created shortcuts at bay. I don't want to necessarily remove sites from my history, I just don't want them to randomly auto appear on my manually curated list of shortcuts.

I attempted to work around this issue by using the "Add to my Home Screen" option. I could just have shortcuts on my android home screen instead of the Firefox browser home screen. Then I can turn off the shortcuts option under "customize my home screen" entirely. Unfortunately this works fine for some sites, but for others that option is replaced with "Install" instead. I assume this is meant to install the app associated with that domain. I don't want to install the Google News app or I would do so in the app store, not with my non-google web browser. That's a moot point though because tapping on "install" doesn't install anything anyway, but rather it does the same exact thing that "Add to my Home Screen" does. It adds a shortcut to my home screen. Great! Except the problem now is that when I use that home screen shortcut, all of the Firefox UI breaks (Incidentally this also happens to the Brave Browser as well). I have no address bar, no menus, no tabs. It's as if I'm looking at the Google News app instead of a page in Firefox. I do not have the Google News app installed, so I know that is not the case.

I have posted comments about this in the google play store firefox page, and even emailed developers. The only response I got was a confusing explanation that this feature was added to mirror the functionality of the desktop browser. Either I didn't explain my problem well enough or they didn't read my explanation. This is why I posting yet again in another place, and I'm trying to be very detailed in my explanation so there is no misunderstanding my issue.

I am a huge advocate for Firefox. I recommend it to everyone and I have been using it personally for decades. Before there was even a Chrome! So imagine how painful it is for me to be trying out Brave or even Samsung's "Internet" to see if they are viable alternatives to Firefox. It doesn't seem like I'm asking for something unreasonable... I just want a few icons on my screen that I can tap on to open my favorite web pages. I don't care if it's on the android home screen or the Firefox home screen, although I should be able to choose either or both. Unfortunately neither method seems to work without bugging out.

Again, I'm a big FF advocate. I would love to see you back on top instead of having a 1% market share....but I can hardly sympathize with your plight when what should be basic functionality is not working correctly.

Please make it so that random sites that I visit aren't added to shortcuts, at least unless I have enabled "recent" options. Please make it so that I can add ANY website to my android home screen, without seeing the confusing alternative choice, "Install". Please make it so that websites cannot interfere with the Firefox UI. If I am indeed using Firefox to view a page, then I should at all times have the UI available. I should always have access to the basic functionality of a browser, such as stop, reload, bookmarks, history, help, about, etc.

Hello,

I've been using Dolphin for a few years because of its interface, where tabs are displayed above the address bar.

But it hasn't been updated in over a year, so would like to move to Firefox… but FF on Android doesn't support that feature out of the box while it does in the web version.

Is there an add-on available?

Thank you.

I am unable to find a way to remove a single unwanted URL from the suggestions list on Firefox for Android. If the website I want to go to (and that I go to regularly) is called abcxyz, and I went to website abcdef once, Firefox will always try to autocomplete the URL to abcdef even though I do not want to go there again. I have found instructions for how to accomplish this on PC, but they can't be followed on a mobile device. I have tried deleting the cookies, etc. for the unwanted website and removing it from my history, but without completely clearing out all browsing data for all websites (which I do not want to do), I haven't been able to figure out how to remove a single unwanted URL.

I read the strings of comments regarding about:config not working and presenting a blank page. I have the same issue.

I have been a Firefox user for decades, preferring Firefox over all other browsers. However, without the ability to customize Firefox we, the loyal, may be forced to use another browser. Also, no customization is only contribution to other browser's owners/developers efforts to eliminate Firefox.

Is there a solution to fixing current version or Firefox, about:config in development or already available?

Thank you.
