I do not use auto rotate to switch to landscape format but the manual rotate button which shows up when you disable auto rotate. When i play a video in the Firefox Browser on Android and rotate with the button it rotates to landscape. When I then play a video (for example on youtube, but not only there) and open it in fullscreen and go out off fullscreen and want to rotate back to portrait the button just does not appear and i am stuck in portait format. I need to close Firefox and start it again for it to work properly again.

I hope I am right in asking for help here since this problem does not occur with Chrome but if I am wrong please tell me where to ask for help.

When I am using the android Firefox browser to watch YouTube, it is fine when browsing and finding a video. I will click on a video just fine, and start watching it no problem. The issue occurs when I switch tabs or switch apps to do something else and return later. Once I return to the YouTube tab even if the video is not or was never in full screen, Firefox will then be forced into landscape orientation. This persists between tabs until I either restart the app or do a Google search.

I found a potential solution in these forums. In about:config there should be a setting called media.videocontrols.lock-video-orientation. I tried this, but there is no such setting there for me. I'm at a loss for what to do now.

I've started watching YouTube through my browser and I've begun to notice that it'll automatically change the settings on the site to block autoplay of audio and video, which stops background play.

I have the setting set to allow autoplay audio and video.

I notice it when I switch from the tab and it'll stop playing so I go to the page specific settings and it's switched to block.

How are they doing this? And what can I do to stop it from doing this?

Heya, I'm having trouble getting my microphone to work in Firefox on android. I'm using a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (Android 16, One UI 8) and tried both the regular version of Firefox and Nightly, the latter being my regular one, 'cause the UI is just better on a tablet. The regular one was a fresh install, so the issue shouldn't be corrupt cache or anything like that. I've given the app the Microphone permission in the android settings, it also asks for microphone permissions when using any site that requests it, but when I check site-specific permissions via the lil shield icon, there's no microphone. It's like Firefox thinks I have no mic at all. Not the Logitech Pro X 2 Lightspeed bluetooth headset I'm using, nor the tab's own. When disconnecting the headset, it still won't find the tab's own mic. Any other app works just fine, though, and webcam also works. I tried a few matrix clients, discord web, some webrtc and mic test sites... Seems to be Firefox, not specific sites nor android in general.

Anyone got any clue what might be going on there?

I default to a portrait orientation in my phone, when entering full-screen on a YouTube video Firefox automatically rotates the screen to landscape and then back again to portrait when exiting full-screen, that's great, however if I then change tabs and return to the tab where the video was playing (which is no longer in full-screen) Firefox rotates the entire site back to landscape mode. 100% reproduction rate. Temporary fix is entering and exiting full-screen again but the bug happens again if I change tabs subsequent times.

Issue description: Firefox for Android stops playing audio and video in the background whenever I switch to a new tab or move the app to the background.

This happens on multiple websites such as YouTube,YouTube Music, Spotify Web Player, and other media streaming sites. As soon as Firefox is not in the foreground, playback pauses automatically. this issue persist in every media playing sites.

Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Firefox on Android 2. Play any video or music (for example on YouTube or Spotify web) 3. Open a new tab or switch to another app 4. Audio/video stops immediately

Expected result: Media should continue playing in the background, similar to other browsers or previous Firefox behavior.

Actual result: Playback stops as soon as Firefox loses focus or is sent to background.

Additional information: - Happens every time - Tried restarting phone and reinstalling Firefox - Battery optimization settings disabled for Firefox - Issue does not occur in other browsers

Hello! I've recently been having some issues getting videos to play in the background from Firefox's audio notification media player feature. I very frequently use YouTube in the Firefox browser so that I can then exit the browser and still play the audio of a video via the media player, but last night that media player stopped working for me. When I close the Firefox app, I still get the notification as usual, but tapping the "play" button achieves absolutely nothing. I've tried to search the issue and test some fixes myself, but nothing has worked so far. The fixes I've tried include:

  • Activated "Allow video and audio" in the Firefox Autoplay setting
  • Made sure autoplay was allowed in the YouTube browser tab
  • Tried to play the audio while connected to wi-fi and while on data
  • Checked for updates to my phone, YouTube, and Firefox (I am up to date)
  • Deployed the old "turn it off and turn it back on again" fix, both in Firefox (closing all tabs and re-opening), and for my phone (shut it down and restarted it).

None of the settings for the media player or general notifications for Firefox seem to govern this issue, so I'm bringing it here. Thank you for taking the time to read through all of this. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for me! (I've included a photo of the notification bar for extra reference)

I'm using Firefox on my Android phone (model: Samsung Galaxy, Android version 14), and whenever I watch YouTube videos, the playback is choppy and lags every few seconds, even on stable Wi-Fi. This happens on both embedded videos and directly on youtube.com. I've tried clearing cache, updating the app to the latest version, and disabling extensions, but it persists. Videos play smoothly on Chrome. Any fixes?

I'm having an issue were any video on firefox i watch automatically pauses. sometimes it takes a few seconds, sometimes instantly.

I've tried restarting firefox and my chromebook, deleting cookies & cache and reinstalling firefox. but nothing helped. It seemed fine for a bit after restarting my chromebook but than it started happening again. Turning off adblock just causes it to pause the ads.

If anyone has an idea of what to do that would be great!

When I go to the firefox website and tap on the microphone to ask a question the Google speech services comes up and I cannot adjust the loud volume on your settings or the phone Google settings. I have a Samsung Galaxy A25 5g phone and on Android 16. I have tried finelock sound assistant and that does not help. Is there an extension that Firefox has that I can use to adjust the volume when tapping on the microphone on Firefox?

I also have a Lenovo Tab M9 9" HD Tablet that has the Android 13 version on it and have no problem at all adjusting the microphone volume on that through the tablet setting.
