The Error message "Firefox has stopped working" pops up 5 times as soon as a youtube starts in the background. After i clicked on "ok" the error message disappeares and the video starts playing. sometimes it even happens when the video starts in the foreground. But then only 1 time. I reinstalled firefox. Deleted all Mozilla folders, no add-ons, i deactived the flash protected mode, i updated my Graficcard driver. No Crashreport available.

My GPU fan starts spinning(around 1000-1200RPM - yes I can hear it) when I'm watching a YouTube video only after i close a video game. This only happens in Firefox. Chrome, Edge and Opera stay at around 800RPM. I've tried everything: fresh install, deleted everything; went as far as deleting my Firefox Sync account.

Hello, i have a problem with Firefox, i watch many stream / video while gaming, the video start shaking back and isn't smooth at all . It usually start happen when i launch a game and the cpu have a big load. I haven't this issue with chrome or edge. It happen on twitch and YouTube. I love Firefox but i can't use it for that issue, very frustrating for me.

Firefox can't play any videos anywhere in ordinary mode. In SAFE mode, it plays YouTube fine but not any streaming vids., it says 'no content with suitable MIME found' - that's probably not TOTALLY the right wording but the MIME part's right and the overall sense of what it's saying is correct. It can't play streaming video even on YouTube in any mode, though! I know it's not Windows XP because Chrome plays it all fine, it's just I don't like Chrome (feels like Big Brother is Watching Me!)

I've got Firefox 52.9.

Can this version play streaming video, or wasn't it ever able to?

Yours puzzledly - I don't understand why starting in SAFE mode makes it able to play any vids. at all. I thought SAFE mode just turned off all plug-ins, yet if I turn off all plug-ins and start it normally it can't play any video. Only in SAFE mode. So SAFE mode must be doing something else apart from turning off plugins - but what!?!?!

Youtube page is showing blank thumbnails for me. Facing webpage rendering issue for some other websites also. This is happening for last 1-2 months. I am not using any extensions. Have an add-on for flash. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling firefox, opening in safe mode. No solution. See the attached image.

My FireFox just updated after closing and reopening it, and the videos would play, as in there'd be sound and the progress bar would be moving, but the picture would be black. I got an extension to enable switching between Flash and HTML5, but at best it just makes the playback really choppy and having to stop every 3 or so seconds, for about 2 seconds at a time, making videos unwatchable.

And no, this isn't a problem with my computer. The videos were working just fine this morning, literally just before the update, and had these problems afterward. Videos play fine on both IE and Chrome, which I just downloaded (had been using it off and on). When IE outperforms a browser in something, you know there's a problem. It is absolutely not my computer's problem since I'm enjoying the normal video playback that I was before, only on Chrome. With internet speeds of 20 Ping, 92.96 Mbps download, and 15.82 Mbps upload, I know it's not suddenly my connection. The videos are playing choppier on FireFox than when I had 8 Mbps download speed and about 0.1 Mbps upload.

I don't wanna go through a whole lot of rigamarole to get something to work, when I now have a perfectly working browser in the form of Chrome. I'm just gonna wait for FireFox to get its s*** together, and fix something that IT broke. I'm perfectly fine not using it until then. I'm not gonna put myself through tons of hassle for problems that FireFox itself has caused. This is just to maybe bring it to their attention that this is an issue that's occurring, and if I sound a bit annoyed, this is more civil than I originally felt.

Hello guys! I'm having some periodic crashes when i listen to youtube music in background. It happenes randomly, maybe once a week or sometimes twice a day.

I tried removing some unnecessary plugins but it didn't help.

When I got the last 2 or 3 updates of firefox, there were some websites I could not fully access. One of them is accounts google which also means not my youtube account either. All this in non-private browsing. I tried disabling all extensions, I tried in safe mode, and nothing changed. Also some other methods which did not work. And when I get to accounts google to sign in, I click on the next button and nothing happens. So, I tried private browsing and was able to sign-in to youtube and accounts google. I've tried all types of combinations on my content blocking but to no good result. I need a solution, please.

I'm working at a music company and we have noticed that audio quality for videos on Youtube is significantly worse in Firefox than Chrome and even the new Chromium based Edge browsers. The audio sounds like it is lower bit-rate with a total loss in low frequencies. You can literally play the same video in one browser, stop it, switch to the other, and immediately notice the difference.

Is this a Firefox caused issue, or do the Chromium based browsers support an audio transport that Firefox does not? I'd hate to think that Google is just purposely using lower bit-rates on browsers other than theirs for no technical reason.

How to Reproduce 1) Open Firefox to a youtube music video on VEMO channel (professional official music videos) 2) Open Chrome to the same URL/Video 3) Play the video on one browser at a time, switching back and forth to hear the difference.

Yes, for some reason Windows can't handle the Firefox & YouTube combo. It happens rarely, I'd estimate an average of every other day, but it pisses me off. Sometimes I'm not even watching a video, and instead have a tab open in the background.

My local technical support has given up trying to find the problem, and I have no idea what else to do.

Hello. I looked through the forum but nun helped. I can search on Youtube, but when I click to watch video page loaded either only Youtube caption, with search box, and nothing more, or just black rectangular. I just now installed latest Firefox updated, disabled all extension. In Safe mode I got black rectangular with message "your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available".

YouTube Default view used to show the video on the left, with the Up Next thumbnails in a column on the right. (If a playlist was selected, it would appear at the head of the right-hand column with the Up Next thumbnails below it.) Comments appeared below the video. On three other browsers (Chrome, Opera and Vivaldi) YouTube Default view remains the same as before, but ON FIREFOX it's changed to something quite different. In the new Default view the video stretches horizontally all the way across the screen. The height is increased proportionately, and on my laptop that means that the video won't fit on the screen heightwise -- what a nuisance, I have to scroll to see the upper and lower parts of the video image: I can't see the whole thing a once. The contents of the (old view) right-hand column now appear below the video, and Comments appear below that. To get to Comments I have to scroll, scroll, scroll. It is an ungainly and confusing layout. Peculiarly, the new Default view layout is practically the same as the Theater mode. Th only difference I see is that in the new Default view the panel above the video has a white background, whereas the in the Theater mode that panel has a black background. Now there's a useful feature! I never had any use for YouTube Theater mode. I would use either the (old, user-friendly) Default view or Full Screen. Why duplicate Theater mode features and then replace Default view with them?

I assume that this is a Firefox problem because the old Default view still appears on other browsers. I want it back on FIREFOX! How do I do it?

BTW I meant to attach screenshots comparing the two views, but the upload didn't seem to be working.

I'm receiving the error that the firefox 62 version that I have does not "recognize any of the video formats available" on youtube and I have also been having trouble with being unable to open other webm formats. I have as the other solutions asked refreshed firefox to it's factory state but that has still not solved the problem. I have checked the plugins page and it does show that the openh.264 plugin is there. Not sure why this could be happening. Ubuntu Linux 18.04

On an older laptop running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, with latest production Firefox version as of 24 Sep 2018, Youtube and other videos play poorly, loosing many frames or freezing video entirely, though audio continues. Restarting in Safe mode, all add-ons disabled, did not help at all.

Enabling and disabling Hardware acceleration and changing the maximum number of processes from 4 to other values (1, 2 and others) also did not improve display.

The Youtube HTML5 player verification, https://www.youtube.com/html5, shows all items checked, i.e. supported.

In contrast, copying the URL for thew video and pasting it into VLC (VideoLAN) network stream runs the video perfectly, so this is strictly a Firefox issue.

Google Chromium for Ubuntu was installed and played videos a bit more smoothly than did Firefox, though not as smoothly as VLC.

This appears to be a buffering issue. Increasing media.cache_readhead_limit and media.cache_resume_threshold did not force buffering for uninterrupted playback, though.

For about one month ago, YouTube HD videos (720p, 1080p) are not playing smooth on Nightly, regularly updated. Is there any solution? My machine is powered by Intel Core i5-4570, no graphic card. Thank you

At 1:30 am, my Firefox tab crashed while I was watching YouTube. Recovering the tab was fruitless as it continued to crash, and moments later all the tabs had crashed and couldn't be recovered. Then Firefox itself crashed, and now every time I try to run it it crashes - even if started in Safe Mode by means of Shift+Click. I was initially sure that one of the add-ons I installed yesterday were the cause. These add-ons were Auto Tab Discard, Tree Style Tab, OneTab and Tabliss (the latter two were disabled at the time of the crash).

After the crash, I went into the /Extensions folder and removed all of these recently installed add-ons, but it makes no difference. Besides that, the documentation states that if the crash persists on Safe Mode the extensions can't be the issue.

...as well as two more in the "staged" subfolder, YouTube AutoReplay and MultipleTab. Note that it's highly unlikely any of the remaining extensions here are the cause of the problem, as I've run these all for several months with no real problems.

I really don't want to have to resort to a Firefox refresh that strips all of my add-ons and customisations, so I'd like to exhaust all options before I get there - especially since, based on similar results from the net, it doesn't even look definitive that a Refresh would actually work to do the job.

It seems that the initial crash at 1:30 AM was submitted, with a Crash ID of bp-af627874-cb1c-4c73-b3f8-4c9000190127. However, there are quite a few .DMP and .EXTRA files in the \Crash Reports\pending folder, all of them between 1:30 and 1:32 AM.

I always play YouTube at 240p because I pay for the web by the gig. Suddenly they all start playing at 480, I have to "turn it down" to 240 at the beginning of every video. Can't imagine what it cost me before I noticed. I don't close Firefox before every video. Recently cleared cookies and cache . More recently had a power failure.

I looked into the Mozilla menu/add-ons/extensions, but can't find an srt extension to disable. How can I disable closed captions in my download? I'm using Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate 5.1.3 on MAC 10.8.5, Firefox 42.0
