Hello, Ive got Quantum 63.01 running on macbook pro. Yahoo barging in as the 'default search engine'. I go to my preference page I delete it, google is back to being my default search engine. A few days later, boom- there is yahoo again showing up as the default. This goes on several times a week, and its driving me nuts. If I didnt like yahoo before, I really hate them now. Ive gone through all of your solutions, there is nothing in my extensions or add-ons that shouldnt be there. So why does this continue to happen? I need to get rid of yahoo now. I even ran yahoo through the finder and there is nothing on my laptop for yahoo. Isnt there a script I can look for in firefox that can be deleted or something?? Any and all help is truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have been using Firefox for a while on win7. I bought a new win10 laptop and installed Firefox and am trying to figure out how to delete your FORCED yahoo search that was installed without my knowledge or permission. I can't get out of it and I can't open Firefox. I wouldn't mind using yahoo if it was a choice and not forced. I am totally not the only person who hates being forced to use software that we didn't choose, Current browser is MSN ie11.

When using Firefox, Yahoo often cuts in, usually with a DNS complaint, and won't let me connect. I don't use Yahoo. I continually strip it from the list of possible browser search choices, but it keeps coming back to the list, and makes itself my browser of choice. I keep correcting this, and it keeps coming back. It is causing me to have to use another browser most of the time, though I would prefer not to. Please tell me what I can do to prevent Yahoo from trying to control my computer!!!

My Firefox is 39.0, and my Mac 10.7.5. I believe Flash Player may be involved (maybe not) and that is version 18.0 r0, which is not allowed to act unless I tell it to.

I am using Firefox Quantum and when I type something in the address bar Yahoo searches pop up. There are obviously many other people with the same problem as I have seen this same issue brought up multiple times when I have researched this problem. I have looked at the answers provided in the various forums etc. and none have provided an answer that works for me. I have done the "about:config", "about:preferences#search", gone in and deleted or inactivated all add ons, etc. and either the expected response such as looking for the "keyword.url" is not there or does not work. If this can't be fixed I am going to stop using Firefox all together as this Yahoo search thing is SO annoying. I would think that with this being a common problem the help sites for Mozilla/Firefox would have the answer readily available. Furthermore, just my two cents worth, but I think it stinks that either Yahoo or some other associated program hijacks the address bar and changes the search from Google, which is what I had set up, to Yahoo without a warning or even without asking if I would like this. The results that Yahoo search produces are very inadequate.

I have an email account with Yahoo.com and I receive my mail on a W8.1 desktop PC and an iPad. The desktop uses Firefox 41.0.2 as browser; the iPad uses Safari.

Using the desktop, I find that many (but not all) of the messages I see in the list of incoming messages fail to display, i.e. they fail to complete downloading after I click them. If I click on any of those errant messages on the iPad, however, it loads immediately.

If I close Firefox on the desktop and switch to IE and then access the Yahoo email account, the errant message <does> display.

I conclude that the problem is with Firefox, right? Can someone please tell me how I can fix that bug so that I can download all my incoming messages on the desktop?

I want to delete and then reload Firefox to see if that fixes the problem. Can someone please tell me how I save and restore all my bookmarks in the process?

Thanks.

My computer indicate that only Google and McAfee Secure are search options. But when I type an address into the website space, a green plus sign appears in the search bar and then the search engine being used is Yahoo,, not Google. I have used a website to remove the Yahoo search engine, and I cannot find any evidence of Yahoo on the computer (but I'm not very computer literate). Help!!!

Hi I'm getting really frustrated where everytime firefox does an update it re-installs all the search engines I've deleted and then resets yahoo as the main search engine. Like others on this site I really dislike yahoo, it's a crappy search engine compared to others. Yes I can go in and re-delete yahoo from the list of engines in the settings but I shouldn't have to keep having yahoo forced on me. It's really annoying and I'm thinking about going back to chrome if there's not a permanent fix. Any suggestions or is it now a "feature" of firefox.

I can not log into my Yahoo accounts from Firefox. I have one open; I try to open another, and it consistently tells me my password is incorrect.

This IS NOT a Yahoo problem. I can log in just fine from Edge. I like Firefox much better than Edge, but if this isn't fixed I will permanently switch. I have uninstalled and reloaded Firefox 3 times. Once. the Norton tech did it for me. Then I did it twice. It doesn't seem to correct

None............and I do mean NONE of the posted solutions posted permanently resolve the problem. They will temporarily, but inevitably Yahoo rears it's ugly head again. Comically Mozilla has admitted awareness of the problem stating "it was a glitch in version 35, but it has been corrected and updating to version 36 will take care of it". So what are we on now..............version 42 and it's still ongoing. The I.T. department at the corporation I work for finally got so fed up with calls about this that we are no longer permitted to use the Firefox browser on corporate owned PC's. Unless Yahoo has a malicious hacker in their ranks or there is a "cyber browser conspiracy" between Yahoo and Mozilla I find it incredibly difficult to believe they can't resolve this!?!?!?
