Starting about a week ago, seemingly at random tabs will open on their own. They always try connecting to the URL mentioned in the title. Now, this obviously won't resolve because that isn't a valid URL. This only seems to happen when firefox is already open, and isn't affected by running firefox in safe mode. I've ran some scans and haven't found anything, I've been through my startup processes and nothing is amiss there either. I feel I should also mention that this is only happening in firefox, I've left Internet Explorer open for a few hours to see if anything would happen and nothing did. Funnily enough it's just happened in the time it's taken me to type all of this out. That's about all I can think to add. I hope someone can get to the bottom of this.

Add-ons Manager displays Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.510.13 as being out of date, however, when visiting the Java website and running a check on the version, this returns the message it is up-to-date. Why then is Add-ons Manager displays this inaccuracy?...Is there a fix available that would resolve this ongoing issue as it is now beginning to reflect its effects on websites using the service.

Since I updated to version 29.0.1 Firefox keeps crashing. Before I had FIrefox 28 and no problems. I found out that my FIrefox uses about 500 to 600 MB RAM. Then the RAM usage suddenly goes up to about 1,5GB and Firefox crashes. What can I do, that Firefox stops crashing?

Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.600.19 Plugin, has been blocked by Firefox because its vulnerable, insecure or for the protection of all Firefox users.
Firefox states that The Java Deployment Toolkit plugin isn't unnecessary in most cases & users should keep it disabled unless strictly necessary. Firefox also states the plugin will be automatically disabled and no longer usable, yet it still shows up on my add-ons manager list.
Do I really need The Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.600.19 Plugin? How can I remove The Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.600.19 Plugin? Do I need to download Java 8 from the Oracle website?

How can I be sure it is only flash player and not shockwave flash?
I triple checked that where I update at adobe.com is the proper place for flash player, and I have the correct version, but I don't believe it ever showed as shockwave flash in addons.
I read that there is a critical update for shockwave flash, which wouldn't concern me, except I noticed the addon shows as schockwave flash.
Is this a bug in how firefox shows flash?

I'm getting a new (Windows 8.1) computer. I want to be able to use Firefox and Thunderbird just as I left them on the old (Windows 7) computer. Is this the right way to do it:
1. Backup both (to a removable disk) on the old computer with Mozbackup. 2. Download and install both on the new computer. Download and install Mozbackup of the new computer. 3. Restore from the removable disk using Mozbackup on the new computer.
Is this the right idea?

This is the error box I get as soon as I open FireFox. I never had it before. It started as soon as I downloaded FF27.0.1. If you cannot help me, I will have to remove FF from the family computer because it is very annoying. If you click OK, it goes away for seconds and comes right back. I will await your reply.

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with Facebook and other sites not allowing me to see or use the messaging functions. I think this may caused by conflicts between those sites and some of the plug-ins I use, one of which is DownThemAll.
In the "Problematic Extensions" page ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions ) it says that you should "reset these preferences via about:config:
network.http.max-connections network.http.max-connections-per-server network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server"
But there is no information about HOW to "reset these preferences". When I look at my about:config, I see the following lines that begin with "network.http.max":
network.http.max-connections;202 network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy;32 network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server;6
But what the hell does "reset" mean? Usually, it means that something is already listed or included, but disabled, and that manually selecting or enabling it "resets" it. How can something be "reset" if it doesn't even show up? Does the instruction mean that I should somehow *add* those four lines into about:config?
Also, the specific numbers at the end of each line are unknown to me. Do they look like the right values?

I wanted to switch from netscape to Mozilla firefox. When I downloaded the software I encountered email problems. I could read my emails, but i could not save, copy, reply. The entire menu on the left side of my emails disappeared. Netscape people said Firefox was incompatible. They deleted Firefox and I was back to normal. Later, I tried again to download firefox and have the same result. Now i seem to be unable to completely delete Firefox and cannot respond to my emails.
