When I am on Facebook and I am trying to post on a private group that I am a member of, it will not let me. I went t Facebook help and they suggested trying removing extensions like ad Blockers which I have done. They also suggested clearing my cache and cookies.

in Firefox 154, it looks like there are 2 places if you want to create exceptions to clearing data when exiting.

1. In about:preferences#privacy under "Browsing data": "Exceptions - cookies and site data"

2. and in about:preferences#history: "Exceptions - clear history on shutdown"

The 1st place allows more than just an exception to clearing data on exit, it allows negative exceptions too (i.e. "block" and "session-only"), whereas the 2nd place does not have those, and is only an exception to clearing data on exit.

having both of those dialogues is pretty confusing and seems duplicative.

what are the under the hood differences between them, and which one should be preferred for exceptions to clearing data on exit?

I would like firefox to be linked with face book, It's one of my daily sites, but since I made FireFox my default browser I have to sign in to face book evrytime I open it. They require cookies so change it please.

yahoo mail keeps requiring me to get code from gmail to view my mail. problem may be that my cookies are deleted when i close firefox. windows 11 desktop. Thanks for Your help

I have 2 different bookmarks. 1 for Citi Card Visa & ! for Citi Card MC. Both take me to the same online screen. Can "cookies" or something similar in Firefox be causing this and can I fix it. Citi Card techs can't help!

All of a sudden I have had problems getting into my gmail or anything Google through Firefox. I have tried deleting cookies and it would work. Now it will not work at all. What has Firefox done? How can I fix this?

Recently I have been having a problem with repeatedly needing to reset my password every few days on sites that always used to recognize me. It seems my cookies are being deleted automatically or something. What is going on with this?

History cache and browsing must be constantly cleared to access various sites. Ongoing, constant event to send this mail. Problem now. Sometimes, after restarts, FF forgets every site I'm logged into. Open tabs persist, the login sessions do not. I have no better observation of when this happens, I'm afraid - it's not every time. Because of this it's very hard to reproduce reliably - over the past 2 weeks, it didn't happen and now it was 2 days in a row. "Clear cookies and site data" is definitely off. I have no extensions apart from Dark Reader and uBlock. Because my daily work requires me to use a dozen sites I have to log into, all using 2FA, this is incredibly annoying. I have also completely reset my profile, which did help for a while but then it started again - so I'm thinking the profile reset was more of a coincidence than actual causality.
